Wow this was really helpful, it took a while to find the programming/overide button. Mine was tucked in and tiewrappered with a bundle of wires. tried to do the programming without the LED and was that ever a mistake lol. Took a while to find it as well and had to use a mirror to see it while doing the programming. Once I did that I was able to make the switch no problem at all and fix what I had messed up. To answer why one would make this change, it's for two reasons. 1. less wear and tear on the starter motor and two just the convenience factor. Mty Girlfriend always laughed at me that the engine shut off because I opened her door first.
