  1. We bought our 2011 Edge early this year. Since then, it's been in the shop for this problem (or maybe it's two problems) three times, and we're having the problem again. The car has probably been in the shop for about three weeks, but I haven't kept track. The problem: Acceleration/power, especially at low speeds, goes away, and a brown square appears in the left section of the instrument panel telling the driver that AWD is off. If OK is hit, a brown wrench appears below where the box was. While the problem is occurring, we cannot use the cruise control (which was very trying on our vacation). The brown box keeps popping up every few minutes, so after a bit I ignore it. The scary problem is that the engine can surge at its own whim. So far we've been able to control the car, but I don't know how long that will last. The problem seems to occur after the engine is fully warm and then we stop for a short while, with or without the engine running. We were in downtown Davenport, Iowa pulled over and looking at a map when the closest miss occurred with the surging. On one occasion, the surging occurred when we were stopped at a traffic light. What's been done: The throttle body has been replaced twice (the first and third time the car was in the shop). When I asked about why it was replaced again, I was told that the part number had changed. The computer was reprogrammed on the second visit. On one occasion we were given a button to push when the condition occurred, but of course it didn't happen while we had the button installed. Has anybody experienced anything like this? Any suggestions for us? The dealer's service department seems to be out of ideas. Thanks.
