  1. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into the 2014 Ford Edge Sport for the possibility its 22-inch wheels could break while on the road. This affects an estimated 20,000 examples of the crossover, according to NHTSA.

The case that instigated this evaluation was submitted to NHTSA in November 2014. The driver reported that the front, right corner of the vehicle suddenly dipped, and the Edge went into a field. No one was harmed, but upon investigation, the wheel had broken into two pieces, according to The Detroit News. When this happened, this crossover had been driven an estimated 8,500 miles.

NHTSA's preliminary evaluations are meant "to assess the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect in the subject vehicles." If a problem is discovered during the investigation, this process can lead to a recall. Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker told Autoblog, "We will cooperate with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do."

  2. Hope you will LOVE the way your Edge drives! Don't settle for anything less.

I definitely don't like the way the Edge Drives. Explorer is much more comfy and drives smoother. Seats in the Edge are uncomfortable, rides rough but that's expected since it's got 22 inch wheels and sport suspension, and it's fairly noisy inside. My wife loves it for some reason though. Planning on keeping it until the new RX's come out then trading this lemon in.

  3. Just bringing this post back to life for some of us new owner's. I just ordered 2 of the ATP FA-14 carbon cabin filters from Rock Auto. They were $10.37 each. I also ordered a Motorcraft Oil Filter FL500S and a carbon cabin filter for my wife's MDX. Shipping for the 4 items was a very reasonable $5.60 to the Dallas area.

If interested, you can use this code to receive another 5% off your purchase. I got it off the net and it worked for me. Just enter the numbers in the area on the ordering page that asks How did you hear about us, or something to that effect.

  4. Well I took it back and got the vibration in the seat fixed. As far as the transmission slip, thy said they did a software update to fix the issue. I have not noticed the issue happening again.

New issue came up where I would close the drivers side door but a light indicator appears in the dash saying the door is still open. Guess I'll have to take it back when I get my next oil change.

  5. Had a very similar issue with my 2011 Sport. I took it in about 5 times before I got pissed and just took it to my personl mechanic. In 5 minutes he found that the front brake rotors were the cause. I didnt feel any shake during braking but they were out just enough to cause vibration. As we have a somewhat "Tuned" suspension these little things make all the difference in the world. Once they were machined all was smooth. Mind you I find the rotors on the Sport Edge crap. I plan to eventually change them to something more durable.

I don't have any shake during braking.
