  1. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into the 2014 Ford Edge Sport for the possibility its 22-inch wheels could break while on the road. This affects an estimated 20,000 examples of the crossover, according to NHTSA. The case that instigated this evaluation was submitted to NHTSA in November 2014. The driver reported that the front, right corner of the vehicle suddenly dipped, and the Edge went into a field. No one was harmed, but upon investigation, the wheel had broken into two pieces, according to The Detroit News. When this happened, this crossover had been driven an estimated 8,500 miles. NHTSA's preliminary evaluations are meant "to assess the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect in the subject vehicles." If a problem is discovered during the investigation, this process can lead to a recall. Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker told Autoblog, "We will cooperate with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do."
  2. I definitely don't like the way the Edge Drives. Explorer is much more comfy and drives smoother. Seats in the Edge are uncomfortable, rides rough but that's expected since it's got 22 inch wheels and sport suspension, and it's fairly noisy inside. My wife loves it for some reason though. Planning on keeping it until the new RX's come out then trading this lemon in.
  3. Well I took it back and got the vibration in the seat fixed. As far as the transmission slip, thy said they did a software update to fix the issue. I have not noticed the issue happening again. New issue came up where I would close the drivers side door but a light indicator appears in the dash saying the door is still open. Guess I'll have to take it back when I get my next oil change.
  4. I have a 2012 Sport RWD with 15,000 miles and just experienced this for the first time the other day. It felt like the transmission slipped when I applied the gas at about 35 mph and it thumped back into gear. Will be taking it in to the dealership to see if they can diagnose the problem.
  5. Not sure if wheel bearings were checked. Will have to ask them next time. Anytime I go over 55 I feel shaking in the seat, anything less than that and it rides smooth as glass.
  6. So I took it back again and they replaced just the front two tires. It rides a little smoother but I still feel the vibration in the seat. Ugh guess I have to take it back a third time.
