  1. We got our vehicle as well. Our experience from a dealership/salesperson view was so different than yours! They bent over backwards to keep us informed every step of the way. We did change dealerships this time however. Our new vehicle is everything we expected with no flaws. Even sync works well (touch wood!), and after reading all the negative comments we were a little apprehensive! Our son-in-law says maybe its a generational thing, we're older so our expectations of "technology" aren't as great as younger people...lol! However, we feel for you, our orders must have been input fairly close, our trade-ins the same age Edge, so our wait and expectation of quality was/is the same. We also said in the midst of all this that we would never order another vehicle, however, upon looking at it, we're very specific in our "don't wants"...ie leather seats, panaramic roof and very specific in our wants. We hope you get the vehicle you want with a better experience. The worst feeling is that you're getting screwed and it sounds like you would be at your original dealer. Good luck!
  2. The original articles where Ford said they weren't affected and were monitoring the situation, were written around the 16-21st of Sept. Most of us have heard from our dealers/salesperson regarding the "carpet shortage" now. There are THOUSANDS of Edges sitting in Oakville waiting to be reworked for carpet. It's a massive time consuming expensive rebuild. Most who've ordered and have cars built waiting for carpet are probably not going to see their vehicle anytime soon. We just wish Ford had been upfront from the start. http://www.wheels.com/public/Reference/Fleetweek/9-29-2011-6-27-11-PM.aspx#3
  3. if you google or bing - pennsylvania floods auto carpet manufacturer you will find lots of links to stories, here are 2 of those links. http://www.bramptonguardian.com/news/article/1083472--lee-puts-damper-on-chrysler-production http://www.minyanville.com/dailyfeed/2011/09/15/gm-and-chrysler-run-out/ this is a quote from the 2nd link: "Ford Motor, however, appears to have dodged a bullet on this one. The company said it is "monitoring its inventory of carpet and floormats," but is still running at full speed."
  4. hmmm, sounds like us. Our order was Aug 20, dealer input into the system Aug 30, it was built on Sept 19th and there it sits at the Oakville plant. Our dealer/salesman has been great, and we were also told it was a carpet issue that was delaying it, however, the carpet mfg was up and running end around Sept 26th and they reached out to their competitors to assist them as well. We can't get a date for delivery. Ford REALLY needs to work on their communication . Our interior is called stone, the vehicle we're waiting for is a SEL AWD. It really makes you wonder if it really is a carpet issue OR something else.
  5. Just a quick question for anyone who has ever called the Customer Care/Customer Service number in Canada, where is the call centre located (offshore?) Every time we call them, they have to reboot their comp, or their system is really slow today....they can't tell you any info on vehicle status, they go over every contact detail which they already have in their system when it gets up and running. You're on the phone 10 mins min for nothing. On the other hand, heard today from our salesman (who really tries hard to get us info).
  6. It's nice to know the whys. A couple of ?'s ... .When the carpet is rec'd, I would presume they would fill the orders for the cars on the production line first, for the sake of expediency? .Is there more than 1 vendor for the carpet? The majority of mfging co's have at least 2 vendors for supplies....is Ford different? We do appreciate the info, we're anxious for our new Edge! Thanks Waldo. :fan:
  7. My partner just mentioned, the vehicle is going less than 50 miles to the dealer from Ford Oakville...so why would it sit there since the 20th of Sept? Could there by quality issues?
  8. Thanks for the info. It was making us wonder the whys and wherefors...
  9. Welcome to the club....same as ours, built, ship date was moved out and it's sitting on a ramp in Oakville.
  10. Just wondering if there is a shipping priority or quotas for certain areas, certain dealers etc? The reason we're asking is we're comparing some other 2012 ordered edges that are in transit for other areas with a later order/build date, ours is built but doesn't show shipped. These are customer orders we're referring to not dealer stock. The vehicles are almost identical to the one we ordered except leather vs cloth seats.
