  1. I was working in my garage and my father was in his 2012 MKX getting used to the features.

Then I noticed this high pitch noise around me and thought someone's fire alarm was going off.

So I walked to the street to see which house, but the noise went away.

Came back to the garage and I heard the noise again.

Moments later I realized it was coming from the car.

When accessory/power is on while engine is not running, the car was making this noise. :banghead:

Very annoying if you want to have a radio on and wax the car or something, or someone in the car while you are working in the garage.

Anyone know why this is happening?

I asked a friend with 2011 Edge and it does the same thing.

  2. Only things I like about the Edge over MKX are,

-More storage compartment ; beneath the main console of the Edge is hallow like Volvo dashes.

-Knobs for stereo and climate; I find MKX's touch slide control very inaccurate, hard to use. I almost broke my ear drums playing with the slide control.

  3. Typically, HID lights don't work properly in halogen housing.

The projector inside the stock non- HID housing is designed for halogen bulb.

Since halogen and HID bulb have different focal points, aftermarket HID bulbs usually perform poorly in halogen projector( worse in halogen reflector).

The light might bleed out and cause glare to oncoming drivers.

Quality afttermarket kits with Hella/ Philips components ( OEM HID suppliers) was $600-700 with proper harness 5 years ago. I can't believe some kits cost under $50 now.

And stay with 4,100-4,500K range in bulb temperature. You'll get the brightest lights.

  4. Our MKX's HIDs are actually really bright. I assume Edge uses the same projectors?

I did bi-xenon retrofits to my Acura and dad's Honday Odyssey, one with Audi A6 projectors, and the other with Maxima projectors (same as Mercedes E class but with different cutoff shield that gives you purple line).

    Both with D2S bulbs.

Compare to them, MKX lights are very bright and wide.

  5. Oh I'm sure they like it!

Ive been taking it out at night and playing with Sync.

I learn it and teach my parents. :)

The audio is great and adaptive headlights are cool.

Now I want myself a new car. I've been driving my Acura EL (civic) since year 2000.

  6. 2012 MKX

    Canadian packages

    -20" Chrome wheels

    -Platinum White

    -Rubber mats

    -Rubber cargo mat

-Sight & Sound:Navi, pano roof, entry, remote start, BLIS, THX 14 speakers, adaptive HID, etc

Limited was $100-200 more, but didn't want the "Unique Aluminum" interior finish.

    WIndow sticker $53,980 + tax

Website Build price - $60.941 (weather mats, cargo mat weren't selected)

We paid $50,000 out the door with Costco discount. I think that's about $42,000 ish before 13% tax and destination fee.

Could have gotten the new 2011 model for $47,000

  7. Do you have to buy the updates?

We just picked up a 2012 MKX, and the salesman put an SD card.

I just checked and the sticker on it says 2011.

So, I put the SD card in my computer and looked at the files. The data is from Dec 16, 2010.

I might have to call my salesman. His knowledge on product wasn't that great.

Though when I was searching for update in Sync, it didn't say I needed one.

If they give me a 2012 card I can give the file to you.

All you have to do is send me an SD card that is big enough (this one I have is 16GB card and almost full) and I transfer file to the SD, and send it back to you.

    I'm in Toronto though.

  8. The 2012 MKX we just got supposedly equipped with a 14 channel amplifier.

The manual doesn't say anything about the THX system, so not sure if it's still 650w like the 13 channel version.

What's the advantage of having more channels?

All 14 speakers are individually amplified?

  9. Hello, guys.

This is my dad's 2012 MKX.

I already belong to a multiple car forums including his last ride's, so why not!

We purchased it with Sight & Sound package (Canadian) + 20" Chrome rims.

    -Navi

    -14channel THX sound

    -Pano roof

    -Adaptive HID

    -Blis

    -Platinum White

$200 MSRP less than Limited package but he didn't like the "Unique Aluminum" interior finish.

oh, we got it for $10,000 less than website's Build & Price.

The dealer had it in stock. Bought it last Saturday and picked it up yesterday.

New for 2012; mirrors with signal indicator.

    It is really a nice car but if I have to complain;

We both had imports for last 15 years. Coming from a Honda owner (both of us), Ford's Fit & Finish lacks detail and quality.

Plastic pieces around seats, rear cup holder, engine bay look flimsy and weak, but similar car (Lexus RX350) costs $10-15k more, so can't really complain I guess.

Just pick it up last night and I don't know if my parents can handle the My Ford Touch.

Too complicated, takes too many steps to get to what you want.

Hope it serves him well like his 2001 Odyssey has!
