YOU are upgrading to an aftermarket Clarion unit... so they are correct about you having to get the harness... this guy did a factory unit... so no need for the harness....

Need to get this thread active again, cause I need help.... I did the wiring and mine still doesn't light up on my 2008 Unlimited.... I ran the power from pos #2 on the connector down the headliner and spliced it into the Purple with gray stripe wire... I then ran a wire from the #1 position to the black ground wire on the other connector at the mirror and spliced it into that..... Did I do something wrong? I used the wires I bought from the guy on here that have the factory Ford connectors and the spliced them in to the power wire using those blue connectors that you put both wires in and compress that metal tab that makes a bridge to both wires, forget what they are called...... Please help, this is driving me crazy!

Sorry to anyone who might search this topic in the future.... I'm giving up, too many issues for me.... If you get a radio from an Edge... then it is just changing out the buttons and wiring... but I didn't get that far. Sorry to the original OP, hope you get yours resolved, GOOD LUCK!

One more thing I noticed isn't working.... The date and time, it won't let me change either... I read online that it has to do with the antenna as well.... hope it is right... now I just need to hunt down the right antenna for this specific radio.

THX! Figures.... the little plastic thing that clips to the end of the wire that plugs into the radio was wrong... so I just removed it and plugged the cable in... must be the wrong antenna. Guess I'll have to look for another antenna that works with the radio.

OK, got my radio and installed... The number on it is 8E5T-18K931-EA..... When I power it on it says, "Navigation Fault, A system fault has been detected that may cause the navigation to perform abnormally, Please contact your dealership".... Any ideas what this means? The Nav doesn't work, it thinks I am in Michigan, which I am not... I'm thinking the previous owner of the radio lived in Michigan... lol I'm thinking I also have the wrong antenna, could that do all this too? The sync and phone buttons on the steering wheel don't work, the others do, so i'm in the same boat.... will need to replace the buttons and the wiring, once I figure it out...

Slight update..... did some searching online while waiting for my radio to get here..... The part numbers for the radio controls on the steering wheel are the same.... kinda makes me scratch my head about why we need to upgrade the conrtols... more searching.... lol

I did do searching, online and in here... didn't see what I was looking for so I figured I would post here because this IS a forum for these cars... and if someone could help me here the answer would be here for future people looking for the same knowledge. I ASSUMED someone in here would know because I have talked to a few people on here in other threads and there are VERY knowledgeable people on here that have taken apart their Edge's in ways I never thought of.... and have done MANY installations of things from radios to remote starters... so the knowledge is here... unless I get some bone head who thinks he is being cute and just wants to be an ass. If you don't want to help.. fine... don't... but don't belittle me because YOU read into my post and didn't like the way it was worded. All you had to do from the beginning, seeing how you are so smart and it took you "minimal effort", was do that and say, "I think I found what you are looking for on Fordparts.com"... and I would have said thanks a lot! and we would have moved on with our lives and future people could have had the direction on where they could find the information quickly....

I'll be doing the same thing... gotta figure out the wiring aspect of it. I am hoping it is just plugging in new pigtails and buttons and not actually splicing wires, but I will see and get back as soon as i can too. I had a problem with my first radio I got so I am waiting on the second to arrive.

WOW you two are reading waaaaay to much into things. i was just bumping it up by asking again.... very simple really. I know that if I had one and someone asked I was look into it and take a pic for them to help them. But I guess that is me who will go a little further for someone that I can help. But you two just read into things and live your little lives... sorry to think people on this board would actually like to help.

NO ONE has a factory Nav installed on their Edge that can take a quick pic of where the Nav antenna is located?

I need to mount the under dash factory Navigation antenna in my 2008 Edge... Anyone have a pic where it can go? Thx Marc

No problem, really is your best bet, Super easy! Plus, if something is wrong with the radio, they can tell you instantly

Dealer will NOT do this unless they have an Edge on their lot that is the same year as your car and has a Nav radio in it. And it will cost you $110 from the dealer. All you have to do is contact United Radio like I said in my previous post. I am going through the same thing as you right now!
