  1. Well it is fly by wire...so one theory is the accelerator position did not get communicated to the ECU. Maybe check the connections around the pedal?

Do you have any monitoring tools? I believe the Phone app OBDII scanners can log the pedal position. OBDLink does have the PIDs.

Nothing showed up and it hasn't happened again. I'm going to chalk it up to momentary glitch for now.

  2. Had an issue this weekend while driving through Colorado. I went to accelerate and I could push the pedal to the floor and would get no response, no engine rev or anything. I let up a little and tried again, same thing. I had to completely let off the pedal and then it would work fine. It did this twice and never again all the way home to Vegas.

I was in sport mode both times and no CEL came on. I haven't had a chance to see if any pending codes have been set.

    Any thoughts?

  3. Well I replaced the cabin filter on my '10 Edge Limited and I must say it was easier on my '08.

I ordered the Fram filter with Arm & Hammer part # CF10547

The filter isn't an exact replacement like I thought. You have to remove the filter from the plastic frame that it is enclosed in, then you have to push the filter in the slot paying close attention to a small plastic tab that sticks down. You have to lightly push past the tab and then the filter will go in the spot perfectly.

This is the cheapest I could find it.

  4. Little late to the party here.

Back in Feb we traded our '08 Limited for the '10 Limited.

I find the brakes better on the '10.

I disagree about the noise I think the '10 is quieter.

We do get better MPG also but that was advertised also.

Our payments went down $80/mo but we went to 60mo at 0% from 48mo at 3.9%

They gave us $21k for the '08 and we only owed $11.5k so 10k was a nice dwn pmt.

  5. Any other suggestions? I can’t find anything in the Driver Information/Message Center (or in the Owner’s Manual) which tells how to turn OFF the Illuminated Entry/Exit. I’ve set “AUTOLAMP” to zero, but this only affects the headlights. The parking lights & instrument lights still come on for 25 seconds, whenever a door is opened or closed (as discussed on pages 112 & 113 in the Owner’s Manual). On a previous vehicle (Dodge) I was able to disable these lights by simultaneously pressing buttons on the key. I suspect there is some similar feature on the EDGE, but it eludes me.

I think it's called Easy Entry or something like that to shut off the lights.

  6. I just bought a new 2010 and traded in our 2008 and the first thing I noticed was the brakes were immensely better. I am hoping that this doesn't change as it gets older. On the '08 they were soft from the beginning so I don't know if they will get softer as it gets older. Anybody notice the same thing? And has your brakes got softer or stayed the same?

  7. Actually the hard drive is 40GB, but 30 of it is reserved for the Nav and Gracenotes database, leaving 10 available for the Jukebox. The database is updated with a DVD that you must purchase, but once the DVD "downloads" it's content to the hard drive, you can throw away the disc. There is no separate DVD slot for the Nav disc like in the system on the 2008.

    Thanks

  8. Introducing myself here - I just purchased a 2010 Ford Edge SEL AWD with some add-ons like SYNC and something else. I can't remember. lol

I pick the 'thing' up on Monday. It's White with black interior and some chrome stuff.

It seems like an awesome vehicle by all reviews and my impressions. I was initially looking at purchasing my fourth new Subaru but the Outback has changed dramatically since the '98 I bought new and, the Forester is not looking good these days either. It's slow unless you get the turbo and then only available in auto-form? That in itself was enough to make me say, If I can't buy a peppy Subaru that fits my needs in manual-form, then I'll buy another auto and shop elsewhere. So here I am :)

And no. That's not a typo - "it's" name is Edgar, hence the username.. The wife named it while we logged mile 4.1 on the ODO during the test drive.

And if it matters, I also own Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, a Kia Amanti and a BMW M Roadster.. The Amanti AKA: Grandma, is leaving us soon.. :)

I go by Jpeckinp here. Welcome and have fun learning.

  9. Not sure when this dealer is talking about but my 08 AWD Limited is back at the dealership for the 4th (and final whether fixed or not) fix.

Any luck? I know it's only been a week or so.

I haven't taken mine in yet, I started to notice it about a month ago. I really shows up on real cold days and I was hoping to get it fixed once the weather warms up a little.

  10. Apparently it is a completely sealed unit and one cannot check the fluid level. My 2008 AWD Ltd is scheduled to get the seal replaced WHEN they can get the seal and bits. Apparently Ford has generated an Engineering solution. Will see.

I haven't scheduled mine yet. I guess I should this week.

  11. Looks like I might be a new victim of the PTU leak. Been noticing a burning smell for a few weeks but wasn't sure if it was me or another car around me. Last few nights I have been at stop lights alone and smell it so I know it's me now. Made it to 27K.

Question for those that might know. Is the fluid transmission fluid or is there a special fluid for it and is there a way to check the level?

  12. OKay Mr. Edsel, why do some people on here have A: No relay, and B: no capacitor......and their hid kit apparently works flawlessly. I do not understand why some work on some Edges and not on others. Please explain to me why this HID kit works on some and not on others. If you can answer that question, I will send you a buy one get one free coupon for a 3-pack of hanes boxer briefs.....BTW, what ,if any, HID kit do you have installed and do you have the auto-on feature on your edge. Voltage is voltage, I have the relay hooked directly to the battery, so why would the voltage "switch on and off" when it is hooked to a direct 12volt source ? Even if the voltage "dips" why does the light go out and stay out.......don't tell me to do "a quick search" on something you obviously know nothing about.

Well with over 20 years building/repairing electronic circuits I know nothing as you say so I won't bother telling you why.

  13. If you would have done a quick search you would have found you need a Cap added on the Edge because Ford uses switched headlights. You can't see it but your lights are switching on and off very fast. It helps increase the life span. The Cap keeps the charge up on the relay by basically acting as a battery in the line to keep the voltage up above a certain point. Most of us only needed 470uF 35V or better to do the trick.

  14. I have towed my 2008 Ford Edge, Front Wheel Drive, about 7000 miles. It tows great and I love the car. One thing concerns me. Every time I get back from a trip and park the car in my garage, I get a very, very strong hot transmission smell. I only get the smell after the car is started up and driven after towing. I smell nothing when I check the car, while it is still hooked up, along the road. The fluid is not burned when I pull the dipstick and the car performs fine. The smell goes away after driving it a few miles but I am concerned. I have read and re-read the instructions and I am following the manual exactly. The Ford dealership where I bought the car has no answer. The Edge has 12,000 miles on it. Does anyone else have this issue?

I'll assume you are within the weight limits? Have you considered an extra trans cooler? They are pretty cheap.
