  1. We traded in our 2005 Crv for a 2008 edge with the loaded package 3 months ago. Huge difference. I will try and list some pros and cons from the pv gen crv to ford edge. Sorry, does not apply to latest models. Crv road noise sucks like all hondas. One of the reasons for getting rid of the crv was we got fed up of road noise. Cannot hold a conversation on the highway. The crv was very reliable.... I know our edge will not be...period. After 6 years of having the crv, the steering and suspension was tighter than the edge and felt like the first day driven off the lot. Honda just built a solid car. The edge batery died, car audio broke, steering is wobbly. This is a certified edge with just 33k miles and i bought the esp till 100k miles. Cargo space the crv holds more in the back since it is more boxy than the edge. The edge is way more comfortable and just feels 'loaded' with more features. Cannot compare the crv to edge - the edge feels more richer from the time you sit inside the version with leather and the climate control and vista roof. And the interior of the edge is at par with crv, though people complain the edge interior is plasticky. To each their own. Mileage in edge is disappointing but to be expected since it is a heavy car. The crv mileage is overrated for a 4 banger. Was lucky to get 25 on the highway and 18 in town. The biggest disadvantage is merging on the highway especially when the crv was loaded....hated it when it was loaded with family and we went weekend camping....almost a safety issue. If the crv had a 6 cyl in the crv, i would not have switched out of a crv. Love the edge so far so and definitely feels a huge trade up. And this is coming from someone who had 2 very reliable hondas prior to comingto ford. Also, honda quality has dropped off in the past 2-3 years...no doubt about it. Cracked engine blocks in civics, accord piston issues that burn oil, rear brakes suck, skimping on paint thay chips easily, and the new designs make me yawn.
  2. Same thing happened to me. Bought a certified 08 and in 2 weeks the battery went dead. Got the same error as you. Ford is replacing the entire radio under warranty. Car goes in to the dealership this Friday for the replacement.
  3. Got to admit I was nervous about getting a Ford, coming from all Hondas always. We were willingnto trade reliability for some luxury, and the risk of a breakdown. We love the Edge so far! We got the premiumcare plan wto add to the certified Edge we got. In 2 weeks, the engine crank got longer, and I took it in to the dealer today after the Check Brake System came on. They semi-cleaned the terminals, jump started the car after cleaning and sent me on my way. i should have realized something was fishy right then. Went to get a state inspection and the car would not start. Called Ford roadside assistance, got a jump start and back to the dealership. After complaining to them politely, they decided to replace the battery. In the process of the battery going dead, something in the radio got screwed up at the shop and they said they have to replace the whole radio now, 6 cd changer et al. And I have to come up with the $100 deductible. Wasted day away from work. Anyway, canceled the ESP I bought at the dealer for $1400 for 3 yr/72k miles and got it from Zeigler for $1100 for 4 yr/100k miles instead. will use the money saved to install a remote starter. Any recommendations if it should be dealer installed, or any other shop can do it?
  4. Got a certified 08 SEL with Premium Package, Vista Sunroof, 18" wheels, Sync with 32k miles for $18,000. Add $1300 for Premiumcare Plan up to 72K miles. Dealer also installed new Goodyear Fortera tires. Hopefully wife will enjoy the ride. I put in Husky liners in the front, rear and cargo area and rear bumper protector. Will be seitching to Mobil 1 synthetic and Mobil1 filter from now on.
  5. Hi, just wanted to introduce myself to this incredible forum. Just bought a certified 08 Edge SEL with the Premium Package and Vista sunroof last week. Have enjoyed it so far. Had 32k miles and got it for $18k plus ttl. Bought the PremiumCare plan for $1300 but after reading on this forum, am deciding to cancel it and keep the money in a rainy day fund. $1300 for 2 and a half years coverage seems steep given since it is certified, the powertrain is already covered. The F&I guy definitely got the beter of me! My wife is going to be the primary driver os the car, and we upgraded from our Honda CRV. The Edge definitely feels way more luxurious on the road and the ride is super comfortable. fingers crossed it holds up reliability wise. I plan to do all the basic maintenance myself like all fluid changes.
