  1. Although it's been more than a couple of years ago for me, I chose the 2012 Limited. The 'base' model of the Limited had all the options I wanted. And I specifically did not want the panoramic roof or navigation. The only options mine came with were roof rails, and what I remember as the convenience option - which was remote start, and a few other nice to haves. I also was specific that it had to be Tri-Coat White with Sienna leather. Except for the 'shift to park' situation, it's been trouble free for almost 60,000 miles, and still get compliments on it.

  2. My 2012 Edge Limited has started doing the same thing. Have not yet taken it to the dealer. I googled the topic, and found this statement in a service bulletin. Also noted the same topic in an Explorer forum.

    "BCM 6535 - 2011 - 2013 Edge/ MKX/ Explorer ”Shift To Park”Message While In Park
2011 - 2013 Edge/ MKX/ Explorer “Shift To Park” message may be displayed with the shifter in Park if the shift cable is not correctly adjusted. Follow the shift cable adjustment procedure in the work shop manual section 307-05 to correct this condition. Remember that the shift cable adjustment is always done with both the shifter and transmission in Drive."

  3. My apologies, my Sienna Brown interior is in fact two tone. When I saw this post yesterday, I honestly didn't remember that it was two tone. I had to go look this morning, and it's exactly as in the pictures that Mark has posted. But with the other trim pieces that are also in black, I guess I just don't see the contrast as being that much of a distraction. FWIW, I've gotten tons of compliments on the overall color combination.

  4. As someone that has a 2012 white platinum tri-coat with the sienna brown interior, I may be a bit marginally biased, but I think it's the best looking color combinations out there. I had seen the combination on a dealer lot long before I made the decision to buy one. When I finally bought, that was the only one I would consider. The dealer didn't have any, and had to trade with with another dealer about 150 miles away.

Regarding the comment about the black accents, there are black accents in the interior, such as part of the door panels, the dash, and maybe some other trim pieces, but none on the seats.

  5. It doesn't. It exists at Bsquare and apparently Microsoft. It's all outsourced.

The ineptness at Ford was in picking Bsquare to start with. Apparently they screwed up the code so bad even microsoft is having trouble fixing it.

It also contains a lot of bug fixes, not JUST the outside temp.

Again - they don't work for Ford and that's a big part of the problem. They have a contract with Bsquare and that's hosing them big time.

I can pretty much guarantee bsquare won't be involved in the next generation of MFT.

Can't argue with that. This is a huge fiasco.

Do the reasons that Ford pulled the update from SMR have to do with the installation only, or are there known issues with the updates it applies to MFT? The reason I ask is that I downloaded the update on Saturday, and the install process went fine - was even able to update my status on SMR to reflect the latest version. Don't know if it matters, but I do not have navigation on my Edge.
  6. for those that want the new update but don't want to go to their dealer: http://www.syncmyrid....atepackage.exe

extract to usb drive that is at least 2GB. it wasn't available from syncmyride.com

install is the same as 3.0.2

    new version is 3.2

"Customers with the above referenced vehicles may experience the following concerns with their MyFord

Touch / MyLincoln Touch technology. The MyFord Touch / MyLincoln Touch Software Release v3.2 will address the following conditions and provide all previous performance upgrade enhancements:

    *Missing radio preset text

*Radio stays on key off after opening the door

*Voice recognition inoperative - pressing the push to talk button on the steering wheel does not initiate audio prompt "please say a command"; only Listening icon is displayed

*Sirius travel link fuel prices show as unsubscribed when it is subscribed"

Did the download from the original post in this thread, and could never get it to install. Noticed this morning that it's posted on SyncMyRide, so I downloaded from there, and the install went fine. The only thing I've noticed is that the temperature is in fact back in the center console. Yeah! (Easily impressed, aren't I!?)

  7. Yes, I've noticed the same thing with my 2012 Edge from day one. I thought about taking it in, but it seemed obvious to me that it was in fact just very sensitive to the slant of the road - either direction. I'm a high mileage driver, and already have almost 18,000 miles with no unreasonable wear on the tires.

  8. I've done just about the same thing for years with my vehicles, including my 2012 Edge with the 18" plastic/chrome, and I've seen no adverse reaction. The only things I do differently is that I use "Purple Power" which is somewhat of a generic version of "Super Clean". And instead of power washing them, I spray it on one wheel at a time, and brush them with a car wash solution.

  9. I have a 2012 Edge (December 2011), and I've encountered that same issue twice. I need to take my Edge to the dealer for something else (minor), so I'm going to have them check it out anyway.

But I'm also curious how the reminder to run a health report is supposed to work. I have mine set to notify me every 5,000 miles. So about 500 miles away from that interval, I started getting the reminder. At first I pressed 'Remind Me Later', because I'm anal and wanted to wait until I was closer to the exact interval. Then I eventually got tired of the nag, and decided to run it anyway. But now that I'm past the interval, I'm still getting the nag.

I never got the reminder under the old version of MFT, so I don't know if this is 'normal', or is this something that's now working quite right with the new MFT.

  10. I've just recently had the same thing start happening to me. It happens with a USB 16GB FAT32 flash drive, and an SD8GB card. Playing fine, and then all of a sudden I get the message that the drive is not recognized. For unrelated issues, just had the car into the dealer, and they verified the system checks out OK. BTW, I can still access my iPod OK.

  11.

Mine is intermittent - I think. Because I'm always listening to something, either music or audiobooks, even if it were constant, I just might be missing it.

Finally got around to taking my Edge in. Left a note explaining that other owners have found the wheel well liners to be loose, causing the noise. But they either didn't read my note, or disregarded it. So they spent a whole day looking, testing, etc. And guess what they found it to be? Right, the wheel well liners were loose! Aaaaaaaaargh.

  12. Anyone as long as you on 2.7 or up. Just to avoid confusion for a probably very small number of folks.

I'm confused on version numbers. I have a 2012 Edge, purchased in December, and not long after I had it, I went to Sync My Ride, downloaded the Status Checker Tool, installed it, and did all of what I was supposed to do. Sync My Ride reports that I have Sync VersionGen2 - V2.11 installed, and no additional updates are available. So other than the pending upgrade, how do others have what appears to be a higher version number? Thanks, Jim

  13. Hey fellas! This will be my first new vehicle purchase and i have been doing some research and I am a little nervous about spending this much money on a Edge Limited FWD with all of these issues. The good seems to be still out weighing the bad, but I am still doing more research, especially with this MFT software issue. is it any better in the 2012s vs the 2011s? I sure do hate to see the 08 TL go, but the Edge does look sexy in black...mmm yummy! any sort of imput would be apprecieated.

I was in your same position a couple of months ago. Strongly considered passing on the Ford Edge simply because of the MFT issues. I ended up buying a Limited with virtually no additional options. While I think MFT is a bit quirky right now, and looking forward to the upgrades, I'm glad it didn't keep me from buying the Edge. But to be fair, I'll say that because I chose not to get a model with navigation, I doubt that I see anywhere near the problems that other users do.

  14. Is the rattle constant, or comes and goes? I have a rattle up there that will shake or make noise like 3 or 4 times every few minutes.....haven't found what it is, but I will check the wheel wells this weekend!

Mine is intermittent - I think. Because I'm always listening to something, either music or audiobooks, even if it were constant, I just might be missing it.

  15. I just saw this post and I have had the same problem twice. You need to have the dealership check all the fasteners that hold the plastic wheel wells in place. The first time I had the rattle there were 2 fasteners missing and the second time there was a different fastener missing. It fixed the rattle both times and hasn't returned, not yet at least.

I just recently bought a 2012 Edge, and I have the same type of noise, but have not taken it to the dealer. I'll check both the mirror covers and wheel wells.

  16. Hi, I am considering getting a '12 Sport and have been playing around with configurations. I am wondering if most buyers get the Navigation option? It seems all Edge Sports at my local dealers do have it.

Personally, I'm not crazy about Nav as an installed option, just because it's become so ubiquitous in mobile devices and is relatively expensive (initial cost as well as updates).

Also, is the Driver Entry package pretty standard on these? Do most of you have it?

    I appreciate any help!

I just recently bought an Edge Limited, and specifically sourced out one that did not have the navigation system. I'm with you that they're readily available in mobile devices, I also have a fairly recent stand-alone GPS unit, and besides that, I very seldom need one. Before buying, the one thing that scared me the most was MFT, but I've come to the conclusion (my opinion only) that most of the problems that people have with MFT seem to be targeted toward the nav system. I'm not saying that otherwise MFT is without issues, but they seem to be relatively minor - and hopefully will be corrected in the Spring.

  17. Hello All,

I am a new Edge owner (2011 AWD Limited) and want to be sure that my system is up to date. I have downloaded the SYNC Status Checker Tool from Sync My Ride, however, it does nothing when I insert it into my USB port.

If the system is up to date, will it just ignore the Status Check? I have confirmed that the USB stick is readable and that the software was loaded. I have run the re-boot program from another thread successfully from the exact same stick, so I know it's not the stick. (it was wiped clean in between)

    Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    D!

I'm also a new Edge owner (2012 Limited), and encountered the exact same thing you did. I inserted the USB drive just like the instructions noted, and nothing happened. I thought I had misread the instructions, so I went back to computer, reread the instructions, tried again, and nothing. I ultimately found a menu item that allowed me to install the Sync Status Checker Tool. Apparently it was successful, because it wrote back another file to the USB drive, which I ultimately used to "Report Successful Installations". I don't remember the details on what the menu item was, or exactly where it was. I do know it was on the Information Tab (I don't have navigation). I'll check if you need me to.

  18. I appreciate the comments. I finally went with the premise that even if MyFord Touch isn't the best it can be, that it's not something to keep me from strongly considering the Edge. Based on looking at specs over and over again, building this model, and then building it again, I was pretty convinced what model I wanted to consider. So I visited a couple of dealers today, test drove the Edge, and was very impressed with the drive, the handling, and even with what little I got to play around with MFT, I was very OK with that! I ended up getting an Edge Limited with virtually no additional options, White Platinum, with a Sienna leather interior. I'm out of town for the weekend, so I won't get to pick it up until Monday. :(

Thanks again for the views, thanks for the comments.

  19. I'm a long time (30 years, Yikes!) truck owner (Chevrolet/GMC), and finally decided that they've gotten too big and bulky for my needs or interest. So I'm downsizing, and plan on buying a crossover. I've been intrigued by the Edge since they first hit the market. In fact, almost made the the decision to go with the Edge when I bought my last truck in 2007. I've yet to even test drive the Edge, but looking at them on the lots, and looking at all the specs and pictures, I'm leaning very heavily to give them a try - will test drive a Limited tomorrow.

But based on what I read, I have serious concerns about MyFord Touch. Am I reading too much into the issues that members have posted? Is the press making too big an issue out of the problems? Will the latest upgrade be the fix that's needed?

    Thoughts??
