  1. My wife has a 2008 Limited and lately the nav. system has been acting up. Sometimes she'll be driving and out of the blue the nav. system's screen goes grey and it says it has detected an error but no related code or clue as to what the error might be. It never seems to happen when the navigation system is actually in use, though. When the system is actively giving direction to a destination it works very well. The only thing that gets things back to normal is shutting car off and restarting it. I'm assuming this is a mild form of resetting the system. She wanted me to remove the DVD from behind the nav. screen and check the disc for possible dirt or damage. I opened the screen and while I was cleaning the disc the screen closed and now when I try to get the screen raised to replace the nav. system DVD it won't allow me to as the "access disc" button on the touchscreen is dimmed and not accessible. 1 - Any ideas on how I can get this DVD back into the system? and 2 - Should I try to reset the nav. system completely to possibly fix the error messages on the screen? This seems to be the natural next step in trying to fix the system. Thanks, in advance for any help.
  2. Hi there, My wife's 2008 Edge how do I inspect the emergency brake shoe and adjust the emergency brake? Thanks inadvance.
  3. Hi there, On my wife's 2008 Edge I was just winterizing it I cross-threaded 2 wheel studs on the rear passenger side hub. I've got the new studs from Ford and have the rear wheel off in the shop but when it seems like the rear rotor should come off to let me replace the studs there doesn't seem to be enough room to get the rotor off. Am I missing something, here? On my 2003 F250 the rotor would just come off at this point and it would take about an hour for the whole job. Anyway, any suggestion and feedback/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance.
  4. Hi there, I need some help in finding out how to get the overhead console's sunglasses storage door completely out and replaced. Yesterday, while waiting for my daughter, I was sitting in my Wife's 2008 Edge Limited and noticed that the sunglasses storage door appeared to be closed but the left side of the door wasn't quite flush with the console's trim. I to gently twist the door to get it to line up withe the trim piece and inadvertently broke the door's left plastic hinge. Needless to say my Wife is none too impressed with me and, of course She's a regular wearer of sunglasses!I need to find out how to get either the door completely out and then replace with a new one, or, take out the overhead console and go from there. If I need to just replace the console, so be it! For those Female readers, I understand the error of my ways and will leave well enough alone in the future and will humbly take any advice that comes my way. For those male readers, please take pity upon my situation and offer up some ideas as to how I can get this unit out and replaced! I am mechanically inclined and have lots of shop space to get this done. Thanks for the time and thanks for reading my post. Regards, bfuller
