That's an interesting concept. I can't say I'm really sold on it though. I think that grill really sets the Raptor apart, but on the Edge it somehow makes it look more plain. By filling in the area where the grill on the Edge swoops down and extends into the bumper area it takes a lot of the aggressive look out of the front end. The wider headlights also take away from the kind squinting and pissed off look that the front of the Edge normally has too. I can also say you definitely wouldn't want to replace replace the HID lights on the Edge with stock F150 units. A lot of guys are spending anywhere from $500 to $1000 to upgrade the F150 lights to HIDs. You'd have to have pretty big stones to even try to mod a Raptor grill to fit an Edge. I've been told that a replacement runs around $1500.
  2. I just did a little more research and everything I've read completely agrees with that. Thanks for the answer. Looks like I'll be getting the clay out this morning.
  3. First, just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I'm trying to make my way through the whole thing and the information in here is awesome. I've always tried to keep my vehicles looking good and have done a decent job but this is definitely filling in the areas that I didn't have a clue about. I've been using good products for awhile now, mostly Zaino. I just recently purchased the Porter Cable polisher and some good foam pads to help me out. My first go around with the new polisher was on my wife's Edge Sport and it's been my best success yet. I clay barred, then used some Optimum Opti Seal, and finished up with Zaino Z-2. Completely happy with the results. Here is my question and I hope it hasn't been answered since I'm still wading through this thread. I read early on that polishing and sealing is one of the first thing recommended on a new vehicle. That was fine with my wife's Edge since it's been sitting on the lot for awhile. My truck however, was ordered and built on 2/14. I've been holding off on going through the same process with it because I've read elsewhere that you should give it 2 to 3 months for the new paint to properly cure. Is this true and if so what is a good waiting time?
  4. Anybody know if this nav unit has a second usb input? I guess more accurately, whether it has a free port on the back of the unit. The sync system in my truck ('12 F150) has a secondary that I used to run my phone input just to give it a cleaner, factory look but it's only got one input on the dash. Not as big of a deal in this case since the usb ports are in the console but I was still curious. I'm not even sure how i'd get to it this case if it does have one. On the F150 there's a panel where the center speaker on the dash is that you can remove with a couple of screws and just plug it. I do like a mount you guys used. I'm torn between it and the pro clip at the moment.

Your's looks great. I'm not sure I'll do much custom work to the Edge since it's my wife's vehicle and that sort of thing doesn't mean much to her. About the only things I'm looking at doing right now are some setback protector for the front seats to keep the kids' footprints off the leather and a some Wet Okole seat covers for the rear seat to protect it from the car seats and all the things that kids tend to drop and lose track of. Most of my mod money will probably get spent on all the goodies I have in store for my Raptor. I was able to get it for the day yesterday so I could detail it. I clayed it then put down a coat of Optimum opti seal followed by some Zaino polish. What a difference even on a new vehicle. Incredible shine and it feels like polished glass now.
  6. Just got my sport last week. Rolled off the dealership lot and went on a trip with the family. On the trip home it had about 100 total miles on it. The first 60 miles was on the highway and had about 5 or 6 small towns to slow down through. I set the cruise at 60 on the open stretches. The last 60 miles was mostly uninterrupted interstate and I had the cruise set at 68. Between myself, wife, and 2 kids it's around 400 pounds plus another 100 to 150 of extra cargo. I was happy with the mileage which was just shy of 24 mpg when I got home. If it's anything like my truck, it will pick up a little from break in and jump some when I do the first oil change at 1000 miles.

Just purchased a new 2012 Edge Sport for my wife. I was kind of behind the eight ball since I just took delivery of my Raptor a couple of months ago. I would have rather waited but our Explorer was getting some miles on it and I wanted to get rid of it while it still had some value. So far I'm pretty impressed. I had a 2010 as a loaner while I was getting some work done on my truck and liked it but they really stepped up the dash and interior on the '11's and up. I have to say it gets up and runs and handles pretty darn well. The only issue I've had so far is having to do a master reset on the nav when it wouldn't accept any destination inputs. No big deal. I was pretty happy with the deal I got as well. Bought it for invoice minus $2750 in incentives. I had to move a little more than I wanted on my trade but still came out pretty well considering it needed new tires and the gearbox for one side of the power fold rear seats had given out. So hello everyone. I'm hoping to learn any tips and secrets I can here and pass on any info I come up with after I've had the vehicle a little longer.
