  1. I'd still get the codes read....my other vehicle was having an occasional misfire with no CEL. When I read codes I found an intermittent O2 sensor issue and also was logging the misfire blocks to see if it was a single cylinder or not. Software like this can be very useful in finding your issues.

Good advice .........If there are codes stored and you have a decent scanner you can pull Freeze frame data and see exactly what was going on at the time of the code setting. Its great tool to see the whole picture, its helped me diagnose many customers issues over the years

  2. I've never looked under the car, but why would the whole engine need to be removed for an oil pan gasket? seems like something that is accessible from below.

It looks simple at a glance but the timing cover has to be removed because it is attatched to the pan which means valve covers etc also need removing along with PS etc....nice weekend job its good fun ;)

  3. I have a 2010 Ford Edge and wanted to know if anyone has ever changed their oil pan gasket on the 3.5L ? If so any issues or estimate on how long it will take and what needs to be taken off to change.....thanks

Bit late on a reply but its a major job involving removal of the motor...whole job is around 15 - 20 hours

  4. Most techs in dealerships get paid flat rate , in other words if a job calls for 2 hours and I complete it in 1 I still get paid for the two hours.

The PCV valve is located in the valve cover and will require you to remove crank vent tube from the valve which is screwed into the valve cover, once removed you will have no option to replace the pcv as the locking mechanism is damaged during removal.

    Good luck
