  1. I didn't know such a thing existed, checking it out now.
  2. For the first time in my car's history, I used synthetic oil. Can I switch back to synthetic blend the next time I change my oil? Some people say no and other say that's just a myth, that it's okay to switch back. What about for a 2007 Ford Edge with 85K miles on it?
  3. After doing a bunch of repairs around the 80K mile range, I'd like to keep better track of them and be notified of future repairs needed. I'm thinking about using a site and have kind of narrowed it down to one of these. Any preference or tips? http://www.driverside.com/ http://www.carbot.org/ https://www.motortab.com/ http://repairpal.com/repairpal-certified-shops http://www.ownersite.com/
  4. It's because it's HTTPS. You can't simply type motorcraftservice.com in and have it work, you have to either Google it or type HTTPS. Once you do go to it once though, the certificate is cached and you can access it by typing motorcraftservice.com.
  5. I understand that. I'm saying it didn't work at all. Copying/pasting it, clicking the link. According to my browser, it's not a valid website. I also tried it on multiple browsers at my home and work computers, same thing. But I understand what you mean about the manual. Thanks for the tip.
  6. That link didn't work for me, but thanks for the tip!
  7. How do I go about fixing that? Would the dealer be the best bet? Would they know how to fix it?
  8. On my 2007 Ford Edge, the far left light came on then went away. It's the orange light of a car skidding, sort of like the slippery road ahead sign. I wasn't sliding or anything, it was on for an hour while I drove straight on a dry freeway. I have noticed that my Edge goes into skid mode a lot more than most cars. When I pull out onto a busy road, it seems to happen a lot even if it's not raining. And when it is raining, I can't even pull away from a stoplight without sliding around a bit. Is this connected? What is the light for?
  9. I noticed in my Edge that when I turn off the car and take the keys out, the cigarette lighter power cables remain active. This was a nice feature at first, but I now have a Bluetooth car kit and it's causing issues. When I turn the car off, my phone is still playing music to the Bluetooth adapter, so I have to remember to pause it every time I get out of the car. Does everyone else's Edge do this as well and can it be turned off? I do like it for the ability to leave my phone in the car and let it charge when I am gone, but it would be nice to turn off if I could. If it can't be turned off, does anyone know of a workaround for Bluetooth car kits?
  10. Yeah I noticed right away that mine was super low as well. I was averaging about 14 city and maybe 20 highway. I've either gotten used to it since getting it (a year ago) or it's gotten better. But from what I hear 1) it's common for vehicles this size and 2) it's not that low compared to others. Plus I do mostly city driving. Here's a link to my first post about it with some more info: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10974-2007-ford-edge-low-mpg
  11. My 2007 Ford Edge SEL had a window sticker of 18/25 MPG. Most of my driving is city based, downtown, stop and go driving, but after going a full tank, I realized I get around 14.5 MPG. Is this normal or is something wrong? If something is wrong, can this be fixed?
  12. Wow that's awesome. Thanks for the pictures. I may end up doing something similar. Though, that is a high price tag.
  13. I have several questions about a custom sound system. I know this is a lot, but it would be great if I could get at least some insight into the best way of doing this since I've never done this with a car before. I have a 2007 Ford Edge SE. Receiver: I would like a radio receiver to replace the stock Ford one that has Bluetooth capabilities with A2DP streaming so that I can pair my iPhone and play it whenever I get in the car, even if it's in my pocket. I would also like to be able to make phone calls with it. There may even be a way to utilize Siri in that when I have my headphones, all I do is hold down a button to active Siri (even my wireless Bluetooth headphones). So this seams possible. It would be nice if it had an LCD touchscreen (prefer at least 7") to utilize all of this. USB Input: A USB input that can either be located in the center console (preferred) or the receiver itself. Something that can charge the USB device as well as accept audio and video input (for example, to stream a movie to the LCD screen). Speakers: I'm thinking 6 speakers is a normal option for custom built sound systems, right? Two in the front, two in the middle, and two in the back. There is a huge section in the center console (once you take out a cover) that goes all the way to the ground level basically. That seems like a good option for an amp. Is this how things are normally done? Let me know. Controls: I have the basic Ford steering wheel controls on the left side for cruise control and empty slots on the right side. Newer models have audio controls for MyFord Touch in place of those blank ones. It would be great to add controls for the new receiver that do volume, track control, mute, and possibly that Siri/headset button. Also a remote control would be handy (though I can use the iPhone as that). I know a lot of receivers come with a remote control already. Extra: Down the road I would like to add a rear-view camera and I know that a lot of LCD receivers have the capabilities of displaying that, so it would be nice to find a receiver that can. Also, it would be nice to have AC power jacks (at least 1) on the front panel. I'd like to get a price quote on both of these. What I think may be a good idea is to go to Custom Sounds, get some perspective on things and possible units. Then I can go to Best Buy or online and purchase the hardware a lot cheaper, then go back to Custom Sounds and have them do it (or stay at Best Buy if that can do a comparable job). So as a review, here's what I'm looking for: - Receiver - Bluetooth (A2DP) - LCD touch screen - USB input - Charges devices - Audio and video input - Located in center console (preferred) or receiver - Speakers (6) - Amp - Ford steering wheel controls - Volume - Track control - Headset button - Mute - Remote control - Rear-view camera - AC power jack
  14. The cars that I see as somewhat similar to the Edge are: Nissan Murano Mazda CX-9 Lexus RX Series Porsche Cayenne Turbo Volkswagen Tiguan Nissan Rogue Volva XC-90 Buick Enclave BMW X3 Hyundai SantaFe Saturn Vue Saturn Outlook Dodge Journey Toyota Highlander Honda CR-V
