Maybe I heard wrong, but I thought glass, in itself, keeps out some light and that automotive glass is an 80% tint in itself..I'll look into that stuff. Don't know what I think of having two different tints on the car, but it'd be nice when driving straight into the sun.
-
I guess the annoyance is relative. I hate traffic, but I guess you might be used to that, too. Hey, Prinzll, how is that 80% on your windshield? Very visible from the outside during the day? Not bothersome at night? I've been thinking about it, and we have the same headlight wattage/temp.

My shifter lights up, and I have an 08. The little knob next to the headlight switch that "scrolls" vertically to dim or brighten the interior lights might be down all the way, which I prefer mine set at. If you turn it up, the gear shift lights should brighten. I'm not sure if the steering wheel controls illuminate.

Got all my LED lights in. Map lights are from Ebay, hence the lack of brightness. The rear dome and license plate lights are DTBL. Really happy with them. Thanks, Dan! Unfortunately, all these pictures are daytime pics.
Very happy with Dan's response time and communication. The transaction went smoothly and I wish DTBL offered more lights for first gens.. LOL

First gen, here. I live in a small city where most roads are 25 mph, but my school is on a really steep hill. I get about 18 here. Back home, where the roads are long, flat and 45-55 mph, I got about 19.5, and on a recent roadtrip I took to florida I averaged 22, and hit 24 @ 75 mph. It's pretty good gas mileage for a heavy SUV. Best I could find in its class of its year. The ecoboost does wonders, though.
-
I also noticed some flashes with my HIDs, that are actually aimed lower than perfect, since they're in a reflector housing, I got a few flashes after properly alligning them. Still do, but like Dingo said, it's on a hill or in complete darkness. They still work great, too!

I think your question is better left to those with the second gen edges. I specifically chose the first gen to make it easier to install a touch screen head unit, but I'm sure it can be done with the second gen, at least with the nav unit in. I love my pano-roof, too. If the car has the stock sub, there should be a sub-out connection in back of the stereo, or you could just replace the current, stock amp, although, you'd lose use of that back sub unless you ran it off the head unit. That being said, I'm not sure how complicated it is to get the back of the radio in the newer models. Others should be able to help with that.

That shouldn't mess with your warranty... I upgraded my audio as soon as I got it. On-star's strictly gm, right, guys? Personally, it scares me to have navigation on all the time, like with on-star. At least it takes a little more time to pinpoint my location by pinging my cell phone signal.. Love JL's stuff, although I strayed from them in my edge (Got some Sound Solution Audio, now, just as good and cheaper). I picked my edge because, at the pricepoint, it offered the best mileage. Obviously you're looking to spend a little more, but I averaged 22 mpg highway on a long trip through the mountain recently. The second gens are more efficient, I believe. I bought mine from Germain Ford, and they offer warranties on all their used cars. Also felt more comfortable doing that since I could request additional ford parts to be added to the car before I signed.
Good luck with your search! It'll be great to be home! Hope you remain safe, and arrive back without issues!

No love to first gens?! LOL

LOL the name's kinda a play on words. It originated on a car audio. I didn't even notice that guy in the pictures! Let alone reality.

I guess you need it to get through all that snow in Wisconsin and that does suck about the bridge! I wish I had projector retrofits, sorry... Definitely on the agenda. Those are the OEM reflector housings. Crooked beam pattern, but hey, they still are better than the halogen garbage that came with it.

Just turned the 75k mark with my trip to Florida, and about to go have the Panoramic Roof checked out when I go in for my 75k check up. Has 76.6k sitting right now.

Good! I loved when I switched! Glad you're happy with the temperature, too!

I figured I'd share some fun info about my Spring Break trip with y'all, from beginning to end. Went to Fort Lauderdale, drove the edge a total of 2600 miles. On the way down, I reset my display to see how the trip would be affecting the Edge and my display said this:
I ended up hitting 24.3 MPG until I hit the mountains of West Virginia. Average for the entire way down, doing speed limits or five over, 22.3. Pretty hapy about that. Average for the entire trip ended up being 20.8, but the road home was 70-90 MPH, no exceptions.
This was also the first time I got to see my HIDs in pitch black light, so I got a couple shots of them on the road. 5000k 35w:
Might be hard to tell, but the lights were able to completely light the median, likewise on the other side, so deer/critters were not a worry for me the entire way down.
Something I wish I could have gotten a picture of was a comparison between other cars' halogens. I remember noticing that I could still outshine similar SUVs with halogens if I were even with their rear bumper.
Bright and white:
My dad's actually considered getting HIDs for his Taurus, and he wouldn't even let me tint his windows because he thought it was a waste of money. LOL
Apparently, Fort Lauderdale has some extremely wealthy people.
**side note** That blue clip came out when I took out my map light module to replace them... Never found where it should go, but everything works fine.
Oh, and then there's this.
There was the occasional Ferrari and even fewer Maseratis, but all of which were obviously camera shy LOL
Never did see a Lambo.
Never seen this before! They weren't extremely friendly...
And this happened a couple times...
It was neat the first time, but for the second and third, the 30 minute wait was just too much.
I had a great break, and loved testing EDGEr out on the WV Turnpike's turns. Held strong at 85 mph.

1100 miles each way, through the night, for spring break. There's beer and a beach at one end. Coffee stains your teeth. Now, back to studying for midterms...
-
Glad to hear the Edge is holding strong in the earlier models too.
Wanna: Don't be too jealous of the autobahn, it isn't all unlimited like you hear about. I think most people that drive on it cruise at an average of 85mp or so.
So I've been told. Arizona's freeways are similar. Still wish I had those in the midwest, or rather any street that had a section that I never had to worry about my speed.
-
Man, I get a consistent 19 mpg on my hilly 55 mph roads with some flat freeways and a small town of 25 mph. I'm planning a 2200 mile round trip to Florida next week. Hopefully the odometer doesn't make me kill myself, and I pray for the mpg's y'all are getting. The mountains through the Virginia's kill it! Four people in it with a big subwoofer/box and all the luggage. Just sounds like a nightmare.

v2 with the top hue is my vote.

Dingo, tell us how to do such a thing. Some bright light would be nice for those really dark locations with the windows tinted. Bright ones in a lit parking lot might be necessary if you happen to be next to a suburban or lifted truck so a car coming down the same isle could see you before you start moving.
-
Jealous of the Autobahn, I like pushing it past the speed limits when theres some open road, by a little more than a bit. I think it handles real well, even though I have the first gen. I've noticed that even at freeway speeds (65-70 mph) *unfortunately I don't live with Arizona speed limits* I don't get much pull of drift from the wind so it's easy to keep straight.
-
Thanks, Dingo. I expected them not to be allowed to put that in there (gov't bs) LOL, and since my car didn't come with a paper one and I don't find the online one easily navigatable, I thought I'd ask.
-
Just to let everyone know, I'm taking my car in for a 75k check-up on Thursday. Gonna have them run over the inspection and take a look at the roof. I'll let ya know what they say.

Does anyone know if this works before I spend ten minutes in the freezing cold?

I'd agree with dingo. Maybe make it a timeline? Older edges on the left, interior and exterior shot, faded into the shots of the new one? 2014 Sport concept on the far right, maybe? I'm partial to the imperial blue of the first gen... LOL Looks great though!
**edit: maybe include the handles of the corresponding edge in smallish print in the shots? Credit where credit is due, yeah? hah

Agreed. Weathertechs, HIDs, LEDs. The speakers are probably just a few of us...
