  1. Would you just try it before you get all snarky? I thought the same thing on my Fusion until I realized that unlike previous vehicles when you hold the volume down button it doesn't go down slowly it goes down to 0 (muted) almost immediately. In other words they made the volume down button respond much faster so it works as a mute button just by holding it for a split second.

     

    I understand it doesn't go back to the previous volume but it works just fine otherwise.

    Sorry if I came off snarky? You came off condescending... That's what you get on written forums sometimes.

    I asked if I was just not seeing a mute somewhere, you tell me to use the volume button??

    I have a hearing deficiency, and I use hearing devices to help correct it. It takes me a little longer to get the volume set to the correct volume. There is a fine line being able to understand speech

    and getting feedback.

    I'll keep just turning it off.

  2. It's not necessary. Just press and hold the volume down button on the steering wheel and you will effectively mute the radio very quickly - virtually the same as having a separate mute button. Try it and you'll see.

    Your Funny, I could just reach over and turn the window crank until its down also, oh yeah it has one button down, so you don't have to hold it.

    All vehicles I've had in the last 15 yrs have had a mute button. Buy a cheaper edge that doesn't have voice control and you get a mute button.

    I just use my on/off button on radio, then it goes back to my correct volume. I think it should be pretty easy to have a mute function programmed with

    a cluster control action. ( that's the two big square four way switchs with the button in the middle)

     

    I was really wondering if I had just missed it or something, I have control with the off on switch. :hyper:

  3. I can send and receive with my Galaxy S III, but you cant send unless you are stopped, will not let you do it moving.

    You might check your to see if it shows up when your stopped.

     

    I have the 3.5.1 update now and turned on the show notification box in my iphone 4 bluetooth sync settings.

    I can now receive text messages :hyper:

    My phone provider is Telus BC, Canada

     

    Sending messages still doesn't work , heard this wont work until Apple unlocks something in MAPP protocol

  4. "This. ^^^^" does nothing to elaborate on all the issues I pointed out. Very weak counterpoint. Almost childish & not very professional- Again.

     

    The "mine works great" with no details really means nothing. Mine is great to If I define great just staring & doing nothing. I mention missing features and removed features and texasopa chimes in with nothing to support his position - no details, no elaboration. That is no debate or interesting conversation or true exhange of ideas or a diffeernt shared persectivewith that type of short reply.

     

    I made my points. Extended 2 year warranty with no mileage cap due to a messed up system proves my point. "This. ^^^^ " adds absolutely no value. I can read the post above .

     

    In the interest of full disclosure texasopa - did you have to pay for your new phone? I got Ford to pay me $300 to get a brand new iphone & paid me $180 for 6 months of a data plan due to my old dumb phone failing after the 3/12 upgrade. It was eaiser for them to pay me off then address the dumb phones not be supported at all at that time. Not a one was on the tested list post 3/12 update & my phone failed despite severaly log files sent to an Ford IT engineer. Dealership verified it was the MFT software from corp & a dealer could do nothng other that nod their head & agree that the customer was telling a true story. I am not interested in hearing more on why Ford thought it was prudent to approve that kind of disbursment to solve my issues to only have new ones surface with the BLAME THE PHONE.

     

    I was able to upgrade my phone, due to contract renewal. I had a iPhone 4gs, that would Bluetooth with no problem. But no text to voice. I got a new Samsung Galaxy S III. The text to voice does work on that. It will read it and

    I can repeat it, if I need to by the right steering wheel button.

    If I'm not moving it will show the text on the main screen if I want. I also get a screen after that with about 15 reply's if I want to send one.

    I guess what I'm getting at I knew my iphone wouldn't do what I wanted, when I upgraded my phone I made SURE to get one that did.     But, I still don't know what I can do now that I have my EDGE hooked up to my home wireless??

  5. I beleive many of us saw the Adds- pictures, videos, the auto show demos .. & then we put down the $$$., Then it doesn't work as promised.

     

    Funny...there is a section for apps in the MFT menu- there just aren't any released after 2 + years. Funny- there is a feature called app link- to actually link those apps to the voice infoentertainment system- it just doesn't work with MFT. Funny - isn't that the point of sync- to use your voice? Yea- must be us non average buyers that saw the vision and actually expected it to work. So the average buyer is expected to see that GLAMOR but never use the voice or press the buttons to see that it doesn't work. Yep. You got us. So glad we are not AVERAGE!!

     

    So Ford is revamping/overhauling the system- twice in 2012 with a PR/Marketing announcements, mass mailings of USBs & glossy books, extendning the warranty to UNLIMITED miilage, increasing the warranty time by a year and then by another year because us NON-AVERAGE minority car buyers expect more than the average buyer? WOW. Ford moved the earth for us few. You have LOST so bad in the defend Ford to hell and back that you no longer hear what you are typing.

     

    Ford said bring all your different phones to OUR system & we will SYNC! But Ford can not deliver & now Ford defenders blame us for actually following that call.

     

    So to get back more on point---If Ford puts tech in car- YES- the reasonable expectation is that the tech will work for the masses & will not be taken away with-out notice. A small % of non-compliance is expected. BUT as we know based on Ford's actions & the tech reviews- not are writtiings-- small non compliance is simple not so- there has been a LARGE non-compliance. And yes- We complain if something doesn't work. We complain louder when the result is it is left as non-compliant or when it is simply removed without notice- RATHER than make it MAJORITY compliant.

     

    Mine works great after I got a new phone.....

  6. Just got the latest 3.5.1 update installed (dealer termed it a RECALL). When I try to input the password for my home wifi network which consists of numbers and letters I discover I am unable to enter anything other than numbers because the other keyboards are completely ghosted. Anyone else see this?

     

    Mine is all numeric, so I was able to enter mine, but what good does it do? What can you do on wifi?

  7. How do you download the Mapquest directions if you don't have data service on your phone. I did it once before but I updated to 3.2 and the info got erased. I don't remember how I did it before. Phone call to Services? If so, what command?

     

    I push the sync voice button, and say services. It dials the phone and says you have received directions to XYZ, do you want to accept? (or something like that) Don't know if it will work without data?

  8. I would want assurance that the Lemon Law buyback is NOT shown on the title at all. But still, Carfax will probably show it. Have you looked at a carfax on it? I guess if the price was discounted big enough, you wouldn't have to worry about anybody wanting it when your ready to get rid of it. I wouldn't be worried about the vehicle, they have probably fixed that. I would be worried about my monetary future with it.

  9. I'm getting ready to get a new phone, presently I have an I phone that doesn't support the MFT text feature.

    I would like my new phone to do that. I am currently on AT&T and would like an android based phone. I thought ya'll would

    be able to let me know which phones support this by your experience.

    I would like to get away from Apple and I tunes, I have a new Android tablet that works great.

  10. I bought my 2013 Limited at the dealer that ls973800 mentioned, don't really know what plan I got but here is emailed I recieved before I purchased , I bought a Ruby Red. They also gave me $2000 more on trade then CarMax offered, which saved some hassle and quite a bit of sales tax.

     

    Invoice was $38145, $2000 rebate, $3834 discount Sales price $32311

     

     

     

  11. I just purchased a 2013 Edge Limited about 3 weeks ago. I traded in a Nissan Titan.

    I started looking at used Certified Edges, and found that they were all rentals. The best I could do was a 2012 Limiited with 27,000 miles for $28,000. I then requested info on line from my local dealer, and he gave me employee pricing and $2500 rebate.So for a little more I got a 2013, with no miles, and got the drivers package and navigation, which I really wanted those 2 things.

    The rentals were the base limited and most had a smell to them, All I looked at were black, which isn't good heat wise in Texas.

    I love the Edge compared to the Titan.

    just a quick breakdown from a service advisor of current going rates on a typical 30000 mile service.

     

    now, here's my gripe with your advisors attempt. judging by your sig you have a 2011 edge. well according to ford motor company, the fluid is good for 150,000 miles under normal conditions. since NONE of us drive in normal condtions i agree that trans fluid has to be changed out earlier, but not 120,000 miles earlier. my technicians inspect the fluid at every service and pull a sample for the customer every 30,000. i usually see the need to flush at or around 90,000

     

    Could you tell me what this is? "rear brake clean and adjust - 34.95 - 59.95"
