  1. So I know this is is a fairly well covered topic since it was such a big design flaw on the edges. My 07 AWD edge has the dreaded PTU leak, it was confirmed at the dealer when I got some maintenance done a while ago. In the summer it can sit in my driveway and not drip at all, and as soon as it gets cold it starts to drip, very very little though. My question is, is it okay to drive it while it leaks like that? I don't really want to pay 1600 bucks to get the seal fixed, and that may not even fix the problem permanently. Just turned over 100 000 km today, and it's never been replaced. Or can it cause more damage over time?
  2. Thanks for the replies. And what would a good rust inhibitor to use? I caught this early so only a few small areas are affected, it shouldn't be too hard to fix, and from now on I'll clean the inside of the doors to prevent this from happening again!
  3. I have a 2007 edge with 85000km on it, and I was washing it the other day and noticed that on the insides of the doors there was some paint chipping where the two pieces of metal meet on the edge of the doors. And on two of the doors it seems kinda bumpy, I'm not sure if this is rust under the paint. But the chipping hasn't started to rust yet, I'm glad I caught it early. Can I just get some touch up paint and be good, or should I sand it all down to make sure the bubbling isn't rust? Has this problem happened to others?
  4. So I have an 07 ford edge with 84000 km on it, before I left for school today I noticed there were a few drops of this very black oil. I've noticed before oil to the left of the oil drain plug (on the PTU is what I understand. I just never thought anything of the oil until I saw it on the ground this morning. It's not leaking very much, a few drops if anything. It's just annoying, I want to stop it from leaking. Is it bad for me to continue to drive with this leak? I don't have time to fix it yet. I've read that the PTU seal is a frequent problem, how much does it cost to fix this also? Thanks in advance.
  5. The brake fluid and calipers are fine, I can tell the problem just by looking at them, the calipers are unevenly wearing it seems, the rust just never seemed to wear off like I hoped it would, I think I will try to turn them, but ultimately I think I'm just going to get new rotors, less hassle for the future.
  6. Now before everybody goes on saying its because I warped my rotors by not tightening the lugs in the correct patten, just know that I know what I'm doing. The problem started after the car sat in the garage for about a year, there must have been some snow on the rims when I parked it. Anyways once I drove it out the next year and tried to stop it seems like where the caliper was didn't rust, but the rest did, and it's been over a year and it hasn't wore off. This caused the pulsation and uneven braking. Should I try and get the rotors turned? Or would I be better off by just putting new ones on? The front ones are the only a problem, the back are fine for whatever reason.
  7. Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear.
  8. So I bought some summer rims because I'm tired of constantly swapping tires on one set of rims. My winter rims have the stock band tpms (I have a 2007 edge) and I'm looking to buy some new monitors for the summer rims. I got a quote from the ford dealer and they want about 600, and I really don't want to pay that. I can get some used ones on eBay for around 100 for everything, but would they work? I'll post the link below. Will I have to re-program the sensors every time I change the rims? Or can I just swap them and they will work? But honestly if they don't work that well I don't mind. I just want to have them in case of an accident or something because I have heard that there are many stories about people getting sued for intentionally disabling a safety feature. Thanks. These are the monitors I was looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200832550622?redirect=mobile
  9. As the title says, I'm wondering how much my current wheels weigh, I've been looking like crazy to try and find the weight, but haven't had any luck so far. The reason is I want to buy some aftermarket 18s, and want to compare weights.
  10. I think I'm going to do a similar setup to what you did mike, I love the sound, it even sounds good in the video, and I've already installed a CAI with a sct tuner, so the last thing to do is add the exhaust. What kind of magnaflow muffler is that? And are the inlet and outlet in the centre or was it offset?
  11. That sounds really great mike! I was wondering of you noticed any difference in low end power?
