  1. Any thoughts on this one?! Just a little shocked in a one week old vehicle! Of course anything that has moving parts is prone to breakage whether it's new or old...just strange that the window was able to power down but not up, and only the passenger window??

I'm sure you tried this already, but how about moving the window lock switch back and forth. Other than that, it's probably a bad window switch.

  2. I certainly do not have any problems with it. I also would like to add that the fit and finish of the vehicle is remarkably better then my 2007 Edge was. Loving it!

I agree. I have the white pearl paint, and they really did a great job on the finish.

  3. I leased an '08 Edge Limited. I loved it so much, that when my lease was up, I automatically went with the 2011 Edge. I love the upgrades. (HID headlamps, totally redesigned interior). Now saying that, I do have some complaints.

    1) The transmission shifts in weird spots, especially when going around corners after lets say a right on red arrow. I can keep pushing the pedal down and it doesn't seem to catch a gear. Then all of a sudden, it grabs first gear and the engine cranks to 4k RPM. That's really pissing me off.

    2) Even though I love the new interior, I think they went too far with the "touch" buttons. It's almost to a point where you start keeping your eyes off the road to see what the hell your doing.

    3) As others have said, the hazard light switch is way too sensitive. so Ford- "PLEASE MOVE THE FREAKIN' HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH" I can't tell you how may times in the past month I've turned it on accidentally.

    4) This Edge seems almost harder to see out of. I mean, I drove my other one for 3 years, and never even came close to a curb when going around a corner in a parking lot. I had 250 miles on my 2011, and scuffed the damn chrome on the right rear wheel already. I think the seating position is different.

    5) The blind spot mirrors that they incorporated suck in plain english.

OK - enough bitching. Believe me, the '08 had plenty of quirky things that bugged me.

  4. this is actually a good point. when I first read the title of this thread, I was like "huh?" and thought, what's the point of that. but now that I read this, it makes total sense. hopefully someone figures it out and posts it here.

probably the one thing I'm not that good with is electrical... but if it's simple enough by way of step-by-step instructions adding a wiring harness I can do it. would probably be worth the trouble.

I'm sure there's a way to do it. I was able to do this on my Expedition by reading a thread on the Expy forum.

  5. I can't say or stress this enough- Ford REALLY rushed this CUV to market. There is ALOT of things that should have been ironed out before being sold. I think Ford should read these forums and maybe send us Edge owners out a questionnaire asking US what should be done to improve these vehicles. Alot of the things we hate about our Edges could be fixed with better quality control, and good old fashioned common sense on the assembly line.

  6. OK- One simple question. If you were to go over to Saudia Arabia, and ask OPEC "What can we do to get oil back down to $60-$70 a barrel again?" What do you think their response would be? Ok, so it's not such an easy question.

  7. I agree with the above. I got my leased 2008 Limited AWD in November of 2007 and I have less than 900 miles. I only drive locally (city) and my mpg is about 11??? Here again, this is a heavy vehicle with the 20" rims, gas prices, etc. I'm averaging $80.00 to fill it up (BUMMER). I got the Creme Brulee color, cargo cover ($165.00), a locking gas cap ($65.00) after market all weather floor mats (Sears $30.00), wood finish and lowjack also the remote entry (dealer perk thrown in) all for the low, low price of $37k. with a $8k down...(YIKES!!!) The look is what sold me, as a previous Mazda3 hatchback owner, the edge reminds me of the Mazda3 on steroids....BTW, I would have gotten the CX-7, but the premium gas and added perks I wanted were prohibitive, well at least for me. Fortunately, I already had a portable Garmin device and didn't get the NAV with the backup camera. However, with the volume up a bit, it's hard to hear the backup sensors, so beware, I've had to get the touch up paint already. And they say hind site is 20/20??? Hmmmm. :finger:

OK- at least I'm not alone on this. I'm getting around 14mpg around town. Granted, I get around 22 on the highway, but it drops right down once I'm on the backroads again.

Another point of disappointment for me are the sync/volume controls. These could have been on the left side of the steering wheel. The Mazda, if I recall, had the controls there and the cruise controls on the right side. I find myself constantly hitting the Media button when turning, thus causing whatever listening is going on to be interrupted. This is really annoying at best! :censored:

My gripe: There is no channel seek on the steering wheel, only the presets. So when you want to seek the Sirius channels, you have to hold your hand at the radio and keep pressing the up and down arrows. Very Annoying!!!!

Has anyone else had the frustrating experience of the sync system not recognizing your voice commands? I must look like a lunatic to people outside as I'm yelling at the mirror because it's not understanding my responses. I tried searching syncmyride.com for some helpful tips, to no avail. Also, I use a flash drive for my mp3 files and winamp to edit the playlists, as well as phonetools software, for my Motorola cell/camera/mp3 player/phone. I thought the lack of accessing the phone directory/list while in motion was also strange? :banghead:

Yes, it happens to me too. I never thought about how stupid I must look yelling at the mirror. I noticed commands like "call home" or "call house", are not recognized. I have to put a persons name in front of it to make it work. "call Susan Home".

Sync also doesn't do a very good job at noticing artists names. I gotten pissed off so many times, I just don't hook up my ipod anymore.

Aside from these things I still like the crossover/suv/truck? For a few dollars more I could've had a down payment on another house...o well.

  8. Solas- First, I agree with the little covers. they really are a POS. I think Ford needed a quick fix, and they had some extra material laying around. :P . Second, if you put the lights on auto, and pull out the fog light switch, the indicator will light up when the lights go on. I actually put a piece of electrical tape over the sensor on the dash so my lights are on at all times, including the fogs.

  9. I just turned 8600 miles on my Edge and am getting 19.6 mpg. Mostly highway, but sometimes I drive it like I stole it.

I am getting around 20 on the highway (what little I travel). But I hear ya, I feel like I drive my Edge more, lets say "spirited" than I did my Expy. :yup:

I find myself traveling between 75-80 on the highway. I normally don't go that fast, but in the Edge, it doesn't feel like that speed.

Speaking of that, does anyone with the 20" wheels feel like their speedo is off by a couple of MPH?
