I'll preface this by saying I'm a Edge girl. I had to have one in 2007 (SEL), then leased a new 2010 (Limited) at the end of the '07 lease. Now I'm coming to the end of that least and, well, call me boring but I think I'm going to go with the Edge again (was considering going to an Explorer since I drive an Explorer Sport before my '07 Edge but I really don't need the 3rd row seating yadda yadda yadda). My dealer doesn't have what I want so it looks like we are going to order. BUT I am wondering if I should just try to negotiate a continued lease of my 2010. Any opinions on my options here?
Option #1: Lease new 2013 SEL - I really wanted tuxedo black exterior with a black grille, 20" chrome rims, roof rails and power liftgate (I don't like the vista roof). Interior-wise,dark charcoal leather package. I'm REALLY disappointed that I lose out on the ambient lighting but I'm not a fan of the alacantra gray inserts on the SEL appearance package so that killed that. If you can't see, I'm pretty into the darker appearance inside and out.
My offer on this is: $33870 (off of $35237 dealer invoice) under Z plan. I think around $1750 in incentives etc. Works out to roughly $311/mo with 15k miles/36 mos. However I'm not so thrilled with how much they are quoting me to order the primed grille insert, paint it and install it - roughly around $450 all in (I'm not sure but doesn't it come in black straight from Ford? Or am I wrong about that?).
Option #2: Negotiate additional, say 2 year lease on current car. Of course I like my current car and it has the ambient lighting, but I don't get the new exterior appearance that I was after with the 2013.
I wish Ford had more ways to customize their cars. I'm trying to work within their pre-packages without going crazy with add-ons galore but its just frustrating that I can't get what I want (oh and to go from the SEL to the Limited in order to get the ambient lighting on the 2013 would add an amazing $60 extra to the monthly lease amount due to change in residual- sheesh).
Any opinions? It is the deal on the 2013 SEL too good to pass up?
