  1. *Update*

Ok, I was kinda happy with my stealthbox and jl amp. But I wasn't convinced it was all worth it.

I changed my high-pass settings to about 90 and the low-pass settings to about 95. That's better.

Then I remembered I hadn't setup my lc7i bass control and accubass settings. In fact, they were turned all the way down!

So I setup the lc7i bass settings.

I also added the remote control knob for the jl amp ( a must have IMHO ).

Then I re-configured the output signal on the jl sub amp to 31.6 volts.

Bingo! Bass is awesome! My system sounds gorgeous!

I love the remote knob so I can adjust the sub output on the fly, it's great!

    The Stealthbox and jx500/1d rocks!

  2. Ok I tuned my sub amp with a multimeter. The book says 31.6v but the guy at jl audio said to use 29.0v to be safe. So I'm at 29.0v.

I'm still playing with my lc7i accubass settings but so far so good. I also have the crossover on both amps set to 80.

The stealthbox is pretty powerful. Yet it's not very noticeable outside the vehicle, perfect.

I have no idea how you guys with multiple 12" subs do it. I must be getting old, ugh.

The system sounds awesome. The stealthbox doesn't make a huge difference but it compliments the system quite nicely. The lows are great. I think I need to order the sub amp remote knob so I can adjust the volume of the sub when I want. I think I just need to adjust the sub volume level to match the 4 channel amp a little better as something seems a bit off with certain songs.

  3. OK, the amp is all hooked up.

I installed the amp in front of the spare tire on top of a foam square that I bought; worked like a charm.

I'm not sure that I have everything adjusted properly.

I've got the Input Sensitivity and Bass Boost turned all the way down for the break-in period.

I switched my 4-Channel amp to High Pass and set both amp's crossover settings to 80.

I'm not sure what to think so far.....

I'm sure I need to get things broken in and adjusted properly before rendering a fair opinion.

  4. Sorry we were interrupted. We ran into some fire activity on Glendale. Our convo gave me some new information that I was not aware of. For instance, your Edge has the power liftgate where mine does not. I am thinking your idea of putting it in the area where the spare is would be best so you don't lose cargo room.

BTW, did you get a chance to check out the 10TW3?

    No worries.

Yes, I saw the 10TW3 enclosure but I wasn't so sure about the fit.

  5. So the amp will not fit perfectly under the rear seat. When I fold down the seat it won't fold completely all the way with the amp under there, bummer.

So I was thinking of installing it on the driver sidewall next to the lift gate motor. But, it looks like a real pain to take all that apart to get behind there and I wouldn't mind having access to the amp to make adjustments when needed.

Now I'm thinking of setting it in front of the spare tire on top of that that metal brace thing. Maybe I could make a piece of foam to fit over that large metal thing and have the amp cradled on top of the foam.

    Thoughts?

  6. Did you have to cut out the stock speaker "grille"? Seeing that in there makes me want to build something for my stock location. Let us know how hard it slams!

I didn't have a speaker grill to begin with, just the storage box.

I had to modify the opening after removing the storage box.

You can see how I modified the opening in the 5th pic.

I used a dremel tool to remove the storage box and to cut the opening to make it larger.

I gave it the maximum opening and kept the sub centered with the opening.

  7. I have completed the install of the stealthbox.

I still have to install the JX 500/1D 500W Amp.

The install took a while since I took my time and did it to perfection.

The install is not too bad, you just need to clear wires so the box can fit correctly.

Measureing, cutting, and drilling the Speaker Grill is the hardest part.

    Here are the pics......

  8. Ok the amp is in.

But....the stealthbox was missing a large bracket.

So I called up Crutchfield and JL Audio and they are overnighting the bracket.

Also, the instructions that came with the Stealthbox are a joke. They must be for an older version of the box.

Thankfully, I found the updated directions online.

Jeez, can't it ever just be easy.......

Now I just have to figure out where to install the amp. I already have my 4channel Alpine PDX-F4 in the side panel next to the sub.
