  1. Sorry to be resurrecting an old topic, but it's the most appropriate one I could find since you include the TSB #. I had the same problem with the rear vista roof plastic trim rattling and told the service dept about it when I dropped my 07 Edge off for the first oil change. They called back and said that they couldn't duplicate the problem (they seem to say that a lot), so I told them that I believed it was related to TSB 07-16-11. This made them happy and they gave the car back to me sans the rattle. The invoice had it written up as: "Cause: 7922 Repair 071611A Part#: 7050036" I don't know what that means, but sadly the rattle came back after a couple of weeks. This time I took a very close look at the plastic trim and was able to determine that there is double-sided tape holding it up and every week or so it fails and the trim 'drops' down until I press it up against the tape again. So when I took it in 7,500 miles later I told them again that the vista roof has a rattle in the back. This time they never told me that they couldn't reproduce it, but when I got it back there was no more rattle. That was yesterday so I sincerely hope that I'm not back here replying to the same message saying that it didn't work. The invoice has it written up as: "Cause: 15417 C-K Reseal Top Trim At S-R MT50282 Adjust Sunroof Part#: 7850282" I don't suppose anyone knows what that means? If it fails again, this will be the second time I've had them try to fix it with no resolution. What should one normally do after that?
  2. I noticed that one of the power adapters didn't work - the one inside the center armrest compartment. When I was having the Edge serviced I asked them to take a look at it and when I picked it up they told me it tested out fine and that my device must be at fault. So when I got home I did more tests and with the same device I tested all three power adapters. The center armrest compartment one still did not work while the other two (back seat and centeral console) worked fine. I finally popped the hood and looked inside the fuse box and with the help of the manual was able to locate the three fuses that match up with the power adapters. Sure enough one of the fuses was blown. It makes me feel that the service dept didn't even bother to check or else they would have noticed a blown fuse (and told me about it instead of saying that it was working fine)! This in itself is pretty annoying - what's the point of taking the car into a Ford dealership if they aren't even going to look at an issue? So the point of my question: Can one buy the square cartridge-style fuses at a typical auto parts store or if not what is the best way to go about getting a new fuse?
  3. Well I dropped my 07 SEL+ Edge at the dealer to have them look into the grinding issues along with an oil change and some other issues. I had them keep it overnight (when it happened to snow here in Atlanta, so it was unusually cold) and they said that they were unable to duplicate the problem. When I dropped it off and explained the problem, the service advisor said that the grinding noise issue should only happen when it first comes off of the train. It's a little aggravating that they claimed that they were not able to re-produce the problem or give an explanation like the rest of you did. I guess that it is normal based on what other owners are saying, but I wish I could hear something official from the service dept.
  4. Thanks for the responses guys. Izzyaz, It's a 2WD with 15k miles on it and I'm in Atlanta, so it's mild. At first I thought the problem was also due to cold temps, but I think it seems to happen when it isn't cold outside too. I'm glad to hear that others hear/feel the same thing - it sounds like normal operation (with the rust coating thing). I just wish the techs at the dealer would say so! Thanks, Jeff
  5. The entire time I've owned my 2007 SEL-Plus Edge I've noticed that for the first couple of minutes after a cold start that when I brake I feel and hear a 'grinding' noise coming from what I assume are the front wheels when I brake. After a minute or two the problem goes away. I took it to the dealership to have them look at and of course they said that they could not reproduce it. I looked in the manual and see on page 214 the following passage about the 'Advancetrack' stability control system and it states, "During AdvanceTrac with RSC operation you may experience the following: A rumble, grunting, or grinding noise after startup and when driving off" I assume that this is what I'm experiencing, but when situations I encounter it aren't during times that the stability control light illuminates - I've actually had the light come on once or twice on a slippery road so I know the difference. I also feel that while the sounds are similar, but brakes felt different and the car decelerated when the traction control system engaged. So now I'm not so sure this is the same thing. What should I do? I can pretty easily reproduce it myself every morning when I leave for work, but like I said, it only lasts for a minute or two and there are no other symptoms (braking responds fine, etc) it only happens when the Edge has been sitting off for at least a few hours. Thanks for your time, Jeff
