  1. Less than 2 years after driving 800 miles round trip to get the Tri-Coat Platinum White Sport that I wanted... Uncle Sam is moving me across the country and everything from the BBQ grill to the stable of motorcycles and even the Edge is for sale.

Its fully loaded except for AWD, includes TSW Nurburgring (or factory sport 22's - your choice).

    45k Miles
75k Bumper to Bumper warranty / 100k power train warranty will transfer.

Local dealer here in nor cal are asking $32k for similarly equipped. A good thing I guess, because I need a tad less than $28k to payoff. I'll consider a edgeforum discount too.

Pics in library. Will also post updated shots when it stops raining!

PM phone number so we can talk.

  2. I know this is old, but i did H&R's on mine a while back and i cant stand the larger wheel gap in front and am debating removing the rubber insulator. Any update on how it has rode (noises, ride quality, etc.) after doing so and putting some miles on it? any input is appreciated!

Just over 20k miles since install, no issues. I couldn't feel a difference in the ride after removal, and it hasn't made a sound.

  3. I just installed my H&R springs and i had a bit of trouble with the front. I had to install the springs upside down otherwise the simply did not fit...not even close. I am assuming H&R painted the label upside down. Has anyone had this problem? The part number painted on the spring is 51605 F. On the coil below it had a H&R logo and F/N. What does F/N stand for?

I,am wondering if I have the wrong part. I had to remove the lower isolator on the front...the bottom of the spring would not properly seat int it.

My vehicle is a 08 MKX AWD in case that makes a difference. Also, I purchased the springs from tirerack.com, they arebreputable and usually know their stuff.

Same here. H&R printed upside down.

  4. I was looking into ideas on coloring or replacing the gaudy chrome grill trim, and realized I had 2 roles of carbon vinyl stashed in the corner of the garage, from a previous project.

It was alot harder than I imagined - but only because I went great lengths to make sure the carbon weave matched all the way across the front (as opposed to just cutting random mis-matched pieces)

Otherwise, just like all the previous plain vinyl wrapped grills, it was pretty easy!

I used a blow dryer to mold the corners a little better, and went all the way under and all the way over. All the way over as in all the way over the top and and under the hood to the radiator shroud bolts in the center, and all the way to the trim mounting bolts above the headlights.

I wasnt able to remove the headlight trim. I didnt want to take the extra time. We'll see how well it holds up, and if I ever need to re-wrap the trim, I'll for sure remove the whole bumper and individual trim.

  5. Great looking Rim!! And not a bad price.. I did the 22x9.5 TSW Snettertons on my Edge wrapped with Yokohoma Parada Spec-X's and I love them. Paid right at like 2,300$ from Discount Tire for everything out the door, including warranty on the Tires!

I remember lurking a while back and seeing you post about the Snettertons. They look good, but I was moving away from the 22s all together, and once I was set on the Nurburgrings all bets were off. The more I drive with them, the more I really appreciate the weight savings. The look is really growing on me too. The flat gunmetal offset against the white platinum pearl of the Edge really pops.

I'm going to spend a few hours cleaning up, polishing and waxing this weekend and then I will get more pics up...

  6. Another update. I pulled the front springs again and removed the rubber isolator at the bottom of strut. Its super dense rubber and about .25" thick, so pulling it out and re-installing the springs gave me that much more drop. Not very noticeable accept that the front and rear wheel gap is now just about identical. Before, leaving the isolator in place, the rear was slightly lower than the front.

Pull that rubber out for an even drop!

  7. Nice job, and thanks for the tips! Your Edge looks great!

I have not lowered mine yet... but its on the list. With your couple of tips especially the rears I will be a little better prepared goin in. And yes removal of the front plastic window cowl is a huge time saver on removal of those top strut bolts! Did you mark those rear adjuster bolts before you loosened and backed them out to lower the arm and drop the stock springs?

The adjuster was already marked (factory?), i just lined it up again when I was done. It didnt matter though, it was still off a ton on the alignment rack, the drop springs pull it all over the place.

  8. Drove around a bit yesterday, and I had to report back with more news on these wheels.

Butt dyno is no longer marginal. Kickdown acceleration, from 6th to 4th, or from 4th to 2nd saw a HUGE, HUGE improvement. So much so that my wife even noticed.... she asked like a smart ass "what did you do now, its faster than I remember"

Braking also saw a massive improvement. I no longer feel like I'm towing boat when I try to stop. Braking is much more balanced and tight.

So far, its all good news from the weight savings!

  9. Installed the H&R lowering springs on Thursday. Took me just over 3 hours. Hardest part was the upper strut mounts under the hood, until I realized that the plastic windshield cowling comes off and the upper strut bolts then take about 10 seconds to remove.

The lower bolts come off and the strut just slides right out past the rotor. Surprisingly little compression was needed to get the mount unbolted and swap the H&R springs in. Two man job reinstalling the struts - fit the bolts in their holes from the bottom and have a helper thread the nuts on from above to hold the unit in place while you line the bottom up and install the H&R triple C camber bolts!

The rear springs are where I really made up time. The service manual would have you unbolt 8 or 9 things and remove the caliper, rotor, hub, and knuckle. I've attached pictures that prove that process unnecessary.

Basically, just put enough pressure on the arm and spring to relieve the tension on the rear camber bolt and slowly remove the nut locking the adjuster in place , then move to the other side of the arm and spin the adjuster bolt all the way out of its hole. As long as pressure is maintained on the arm just under the spring, the bolt slides out and you slowly lower the jack and then swing the arm down, swap springs and reinstall the bolt and nut. Total time on BOTH rears was less that 40 minutes.

Picture shows the rear camber bolt being backed out (after locking nut was removed from the opposite side) and the arm swinging down for the spring swap.

    Easy stuff...

  10. Lookin' good! Better ride AND mileage, can't beat that :) Aren't those tires a bit wide, though? How do they sit?

They are a little wide, sure. But that was the idea. If I went with 20s, they had to be meaty and have a taller sidewall than the 265/40 of the factory so they would still the fill out the wheel well. The 295/40 brings the overall diameter right up to the size of the factory wheels as well, so the speedo isn't affected much.

I'll take a closeup when I get a chance, but they only stick out about a .25" further than the OEM sport wheels/tires. They look great.

  11. Finally got around to installing the Gunmetal TSW Nurburgrings (24.5 lbs!!). 295/40/20 Falken Azenis 453CC weigh in at 36. Factory Sport 22s tip the scales at 84 lbs.... Total weight savings of 24 lbs on each corner. For the wheel weight savings naysayers? +3 MPG.

Butt dyno is marginal. The suspension however, is phenomenal. The ultra light weight wheels coupled with the H&R springs act x10 out on the road. The Edge litteraly glides around now. The reduced weight seems to go a long way in helping the shocks keep the wheels and tires planted to the road....

Edit: can't post from photo bucket on my nexus. Uploading now.
