  1. I took it in yesterday and left the car @ the dealership all day! I knew from the get go that it would have been very difficult for the technician to replicate as the wipers dont stop working on the first drop of water. They apparently used a hose for about 5 mins to try and duplicate my complaint but they were not successful. It was a very frustrating experience if I'm being honest as this is one of those situations that dont manifest when you need it to. That being said, I ended up speaking with the service manager and he agreed to order the motor and have it swapped as I stressed a few times that it was a safety issue and snow is just around the corner. He did say that there was no guarantee that this would fix it since they were not able to replicate it. I will take it in again on Saturday and hopefully swapping the motor would take care of this problem.. Will keep you posted

  2. Hey Guys, I'm hoping someone can help. My windshield wipers dont work when it rains. Only the highest setting seems to work. Manual and low intermittent settings stopped moving or don't work at all. Before it stopped working altogether, the motor seemed to have slowed down and eventually gave up.

When it all dried up/no rain, all settings were working again as normal. Any idea what's causing this?

  3. So this issue has popped up again. This is after the software upgrade as well as the replacement of the GPS Module which seemed to resolve the issue for a while but now I am back to the GPS being off sometimes by small amounts and other times like today several streets off and getting worse depending on how long I drive.

So the question is what kind of recourse do I have? This is a HUGE Safety issue that showed up when I was using the Navigation System for what it is designed for - giving me directions to an address that I've never been to. It actually took me the wrong way off the highway and couldn't make up its mind in its "Off Route" messages and almost caused me to get in an accident trying to look at the screen and figure out where I was supposed to go.

I e-mailed Ford and they said that this is a known issue that they have NOT yet resolved on vehicles with the larger tires. They suggested I keep dealing with the dealer and they will eventually roll out a fix.

I am considering hiring a lawyer to get them to buy this back. Between the NAV having a mind of its own, the Voice Controls not working consistently and the mileage being so far over stated by Ford I am so sad that I've wasted my money on this POS.

Anyone have any thoughts / suggestions on recourse?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Just to give an update on my situation, as soon as i reverted back to the 20s that came with the car (from 17" - Winter tires), the GPS has been working flawlessly without any issues. So i guess mine had something to do with the "dead reckoning" issue as stated before

  4. I know this is an old thread, but i took my time to buy and put things together. I did a lot of research and before i go ahead and do the installation this spring, i want to make sure I have everything that i need to move forward.

Here's a list of things that I have at the moment

    • Alpine PDX-V9
    • Audiocontrol LC7I
    • NVX XKIT44
    • Infinity Kappa 682.11CF (already installed in all 4 doors)

I will be tapping into the speaker wires at the door (front and rear) instead of going behind the head unit. I'm also planning to run new speaker wires from the amp to the speakers. I am aware that our alternator is 150 AMP but considering that my 5 channel amp is 800 W RMS/1600 W max power, will i be required to install a capacitor? I believe that with the system installed, i will be needing at least 100 AMP from the alternator. This is the calculation I've been using (800 RMS (AMP) + 400 (sub) / 12) = 100 AMP (not sure if i should have added the sub in this calc) . Will that put too much strained on the alternator?

Finally the speakers are 2 ohm and the sub i have is 4 ohm, will that be a problem?

    Pls advise

  5. Had similar issue - after GPS worked flawlessly for 1st year + (approx. 14,000 miles on new vehicle). Have watched this forum for last several months on the issue.

GPS sporadically, usually every trip, but not 100% of time, would show off-route, location arrow would be 200 - 500 ft. off to side or behind actual location. In urban areas, this caused GPS to constantly reset driving directions (suggested route) and erroneously pick up location on side streets, etc.

My dealer recently replaced the GPS "antenna module" (receipt being mailed - I will post part ID when received) - and issue appears to be resolved. Has worked for last 3 weeks perfectly.

Previous repair attempt included "reprograming" the module - which did not work. To assist dealer - I provided pictures of GPS screen when malfunctioning....

Will post repair codes for both service visits.

PS: also had previously tried the following (none worked): Master Reset (per Ford telephone support suggestion), twice tried the battery disconnect / reconnect (GPS would work for limited time < 100 miles). Also, dealer had previously confirmed software updates properly installed.

Josh, did your issue start after changing to winter tires as well?

  6. I just purchased the Alpine Pdx-v9 (5 channel amp). Will I be required to buy an (LOC) as well? if so, which one would you recommend? How many channel?

By installing an LOC, would I still get full power from the amp?

I don't have the sony system and I'm planning to keep the stock HU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  7. I would go with the Alpine PDX-V9 only because the 1 channel has more power but the issue with using 4 channel amps is you cannot seperate your door speakers from sub. Only because your crossover is either on HPF, LPF, or Full. That's why I got two seperate amps so i can independently control them. Plus the rear door speakers bring more mid bass range while fronts will be full or high range. This is why I had to had a subwoofer into the mix.

Thanks for your input abhp06. I appreciate it

Where did you find the Kappas up here in Canada? I've been looking online to buy 2 sets, but haven't found any yet.

I purchased them from Sonic Electronix

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_60698_Infinity-Kappa-682.11cf.html

They gave me a discount of $17 per pair on top of the final price.. You have to place your order over the phone though.

  8. So I finally pulled the trigger on 2 pairs of Infinity Kappa 682.11CF after "extensively" reading this forum. I tried calling a few places to get a decent amp and one guy offered me this one for $400 CAD. He mentioned that an under powered amp would be better for the speakers as well.

Alpine PDX-5 (getting rid of old stock) http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pdx-5/default

My concern is this amp would/is probably underpowered when taking into consideration the specs of the speakers + my sub. The sub I have is the 10" Alpine Type S @ 500W RMS.

What are your thoughts on these?

Please also advise on any other amps that you deem fit for my settings. I'd really appreciate it.

  9. Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this question has ever been asked before, but after doing a quick search on the forum, I was not able to find any results related to what I'm about to ask.

I have noticed that some of our Edge does not have the plastic cover thing in the front grill that partially hides the radiator. Most of the Edge's out there has a 5 inch plastic "insert" on both sides but mine doesn't.

I've checked out a few models and it didn't matter what trim it was. I currently have the 2013 SEL appearance package and as you can see on the ford website, it has the inserts but my car doesn't have them. You can actually see the metal piece of the radiator on one side. Anyone know why and what can be done?
