  1. Just painted mine about 2 weeks ago. I guess you could go to ford and buy their paint, I used Duplicolor exterior paint. Ford Silver Frost. It is a very popular silver they used for years. I had a can left over from fixing the rear bumper on my 1998 Ford Contour Sport. Hear is the final picture. When I got the car it was pretty beat up.

    By the way, the panel just pops out. Open the armrest and grab the panel and pull straight up. It is held in with clips. Just remove the black rubber ring around the shift area and the cup holder rubbers. The "ash tray" was from my Contour and is used for change not smoking. LOL

    Looks good... What kind of prep work did you do to it?

Ticked off to say there least but yesterday a piece of slate similar to the material of a clay pigeon flew up from the highway from under the car in front of me and smacked my front bumper resulting in, what I call, spider cracks in the paint. I buffed out most of the scratches but the paint cracks, I don't know of any means to repair other than repainting the bumper although I am hoping someone has a trick.

     

    If not, guess I'll live with it for now until I can get the bumper off and have it painted.

     

    Thoughts?

  3. I have been having trouble getting my phone to pair since WP8.1 came out and I got that working, I think. One recommendation was to pull the fuse... my fingers can't get in there and hold onto the tool so I just disconnected the battery for the swame effect. No big deal but my SAT1, SAT2 and SAT3 are GONE!

     

    Did the restore to default settings, nope, nothing. Did the master reset, nope, nothing.

     

    Going on a road trip where radio reception is sparce at best so I'd like to have it working.

     

    Any thoughts?

     

    I did a search but didn't see anything that adressed the issue unless I overlooked it.

  4. Totally agree with akirby especially on the older Edge's like the 07 thru 10 (don't know much about the newer models). I think you'd be very happy with CAI, tune, exhaust and better brakes.

     

     

    I have a performance vehicle and was pleasantly surprised at how the Edge handles... it's tempting to want more HP but there are plenty of mods that will make you happy without compromising the drivetrain.

     

    It would be great if the SHO motor was an option on future vehicles but I think the best we're going to get is the Ecoboost 4 cylinder.

     

  5. I have 96k on my Edge now and it's time to change plugs and PCV... both seem straight forward.

     

    What plugs do you guys use or recommend. There is a $2.50 rebate on the Autolight irridium plugs that brings the cost down to $4.59 but I also have a supeercharged vehicle and used to put those in and dumped them in favor NGK TR6 plugs at a couple of bucks. Won't work here but is irridium worth it?

     

    Also, based on your experiences, is it necessary to change the intake gaskets? These things normally are good but I thought I'd through it out there and see what y'all have done.

     

    PCV... there were some thread on this and I am good there but would certainly take any tips if ya got'em.

  6. akirby, yup, read em and the one you referrenced. Just none of them specifically said anything about one fan not working, unless I missed it.

     

    This site is awesome and the input is valuable.

     

    I can get the Dorman module from RockAuto for 135.79. Not familiar with Dorman and RockAuto and prices range from 124 to 279 (Motocraft).

  7. Looks like this thread died without any reslove. Any chance we can reopen it and get some responses to it? I am having the same issue and need to diagnose the problem and repair it. I have done a search and found good info but like Carlozv, I have yet to see the second fan come on.

     

    Should both fans be on with the A/C running upon startup or does the engine temp need to raise before the 2nd fan comes on?

     

    Fan on the drives side comes on when engine is started and A/C is on.

     

    Any help on this is appreciated!

  8. Props to this forum!!!!

     

    All of a sudden my sun shade decided to go wacky. Won't open with the window while the window opens. To open it you have to hold the switch down and it will jerk to the open position and there are more examples but why go there.

     

    The fix from above did the job. No idea what it decided to fail but all is well now. Hope it stays that way.

    This is EXACTLY what I am looking for! I was going back and forth about leaving the Ford emblum origninal or to Plasti Dip it too. You have given me food for thought.

  10. Hey y'all...

     

    I am want to Plasti Dip the chrome front facia and the chrome wheels on my '08 Limited. My son did this to his '14 Subaru Outback and gotta admit, it looks good.

     

    First off, has anyone used Plasti Dip and what was your experience? Any pointers? Acording to the website it looks striaght forward.

     

    Secondly, the front chrome facia. I'd like to take it of to spray it and I actually removed the upper fasteners to see what I would be in for. It looks like the facia is secured by screws to the lower bumber cover. Does anyone have access to some sort of manual that will give me an idea on how to do this? I can mask it off and leave it on the vehicle but that is only if I can't find a way to take it off safely.

     

    My Edge is white so I am going with flat black to match the lower cladding around the vehicle. Sort of like a Sport model that wasn't available in '08.

     

    Thoughts?

  11. ACCORDING TO THE UPDATE SITE, 2009 IS AT V1.1 and that's a dealer update. there is, however, a program you can run on your pc that you then put on a stick that can lower the volume on the radio for ringtones and custom ringtones as well as two other apps.

    It's been a while since I have been to the site but I thought the only update was the v1.1, please let me know where I can access the earlier update and I'll give it a try.

  12. ...dunno if it helps, but 2013 rings with default tone, no matter what phone I pair it with (either WP8 running on Lumia 925 or IOS on my wife's IPhone 5)

    Info to have for sure but the dang thing worked for a couple of months right after I bought the car. Then something weird happend? I guess I'd like to know if other phones that are paired if they set the ring tone to the phones, does it work or not?

     

    Everything lse is good but this.

  13. I bought this vehicle used for my wife and I am very impressed.

     

    I don't think there have been any updates to the SYNC software so it is still running 1.0, however... from what I have read, that is not much of an issue.

     

    Here's my problem. The ringer defaults to gawd awful SYNC default which will wake the dead! This was not always the case. When I first paired my phone to SYNC, the ringer on my phone was what SYNC used. Somewhere along the line, I got an update for the WP software and it may have been circumstantial or coincidence, but I think it was after that my ringer went to that funky loud ringer. Which is odd since you would have had to select the ringer setting in SYNC and not the phone.

     

    I have tried all three ringer options in SYNC plus the forth option for SYNC to default to my phones ringer. The funky ringer values will work although none are acceptable and the forth doesn't do anything. I even used the ringer off function which produced nothing as in "off".

     

    So using my phones default ringer flat doesn't work when it once did.

     

    I have removed the phone and re-paired it via BT. I have reset the entire system to factory. I have removed ALL BT devices.

     

     

    I have searched this board and the SYNC board and I haven't seen a post specific to this or I may have missed the post. Any suggestions is appreciated!

  14. My blower started working again for a little bit and I could hear the fan making a noise, so I replaced the blower motor and everything is working great now. It was nice to come to work with high heat!

    Keep me posted on this... mine has yet to fail again since it started working. I suspect it is the blower but more info the better. Good luck and I hope you fixed it once and for all!!!

  15. gbergkamp, not sure on the testing procedure but I was just going to get my volt meter out and start playing until I get an idea what's going on, then post it up for feedback. For me, once the system fails again, I will verify voltage is coming to the fan assy. If that test is negative, then I have a problem upline in the EATC and I don't have the foggiest idea how to test that. My inclination is to just order parts!

     

    However, I haven't gotten to the first test and I totally understand the cold. Tonights low here is 14. Fortunately the blower has been running everyday but the day we came home from the airport which was a week ago today.

     

    I did pull the filter our and make sure there wasn't something obstruction the fan. Oddly, it has been working fine but there wasn't an obstruction so I doubt that has anything to do with it.

     

    Verey frustrating. One time it failed I was driving and hit a pot hole. Dang thing came on right afterwards making me think I have a lose connection. Haven't checked that yet but I have reached under the dash and wiggled anythig I could get my hands on when it failed again and to no avail, nothing.

     

    Very intermittent and frustrating.

     

    Let me know if you see a pattern or stumble on a fix and I will do the same!!

  16. Thank you to WWWPerfA_ZN0W for posting those pictures showing the location of the blower motor control unit. I'm still trying to figure out this new Windows 8 computer and how to do things.

     

    Akirby was correct when he mentioned the EATC as maybe being at fault. This part is described in several different ways, including the listing on Rock Auto as a blower motor control module/resistors. On the pictures posted by WWWperfA_ZNOW, it is called an EATC on the automatic climate control system and an EMTC on the manual climate control system. Might be why there are two different MC part numbers and prices on the Rock Auto listings for the part.

     

    rgigowski, I am over in the Forney area, about 10 miles east of Mesquite. I don't get over to your side of town very often at all. Ever since I sold my 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible years ago for extra money towards a down payment on a house, I just haven't been into car shows too much. Maybe some day when it's warmer I can check it out.

    Understand the attachment to the 442. We have a 71 GS convertable that has been in the family since new. My dad bought it my senior year in high school. Today the car is in Florida with my brother.
