  1. Finished with the engine. I ended up just taking pictures and will do a write up. Was too hard to film a lot of the areas
  2. There was 110k on it. A youtube vid would of been a good idea but didn't want to take the time to record what I was doing. Maybe I can do it for putting the engine back in.
  3. there's an engine support bracket on the far side of the engine. The bolts on that were really hard to get to. I had to pull the passanger side drive shaft out to get to them and it was still a pain. If you remove the rear exhaust manifold cat they would be easy to get to but it's also a pain to get to the backside nuts that hold it on.
  4. Got the engine out. Was more of a PITA than I expected, but was able to pull it through the top. Looking through the intake and exhaust ports, the valves look fine. And looking down through the spark plug hole the cyclinder looks good. I'll tear it apart and hopefully find out what happened.
  5. Yeah true, but conflicting results on weather it was or wasn't made me believe otherwise. Along with being able to spin the cams 360 degrees with no problem.
  6. After removing the plastic lip in the back under the window, there's tons of room to remove the engine. Shouldn't be a problem pulling it out the top.
  7. Got the engine back togather. Started it, and it wasn't running well. Did a compression test and number 6 is a dead cylinder. So going to just pull the engine and put a newer one in. We'll see how pulling the engine goes
  8. heres a pic of the sprocket, still waiting on parts. Half of the key for holding the gear in place on the cranshaft is still stuck in the crankshaft so I gotta try to drill that out. Hopefully I don't damage the crank
  9. No the sprocket is metal. Was using full sythentic 5w-20. I think I figured it out though. I think my tensioner is bad. I'm able to push it in with my hand which I don't think I should be able to. So I ordered a new timing chain and tensioner, see what that that does if the valves aren't ruined.
  10. Oh it's np. Any idea what could cause the timing gear sprocket to crack and the key that holds it onto the crankshaft to shear? Was running fine, and when I was pulling it into the garage it just shut down.
  11. Yeah I saw that site, but then I found another forum where someone was saying that on gates.com it said the engine was a non-interference engine. I called ford and they weren't able to find anything out, it didn't say if it was or wasn't in their computer. I guess I'll do a compression test and see if everything is okay or not.
  12. Thanks for the info. I'll try calling a ford dealership tomorrow and hopefully they can give me an answer. I don't think any of the valves got bent, didn't sound like anything was getting hit when I cranked it over before I took it apart.
  13. My 2007 ford edge just cracked the primary timing chain sprocket for some reason. So I'm trying to figure out if it's a non-Interference or not. Can't really find any information about it. One site I found says it is not but then another one I found says it is.

    code p2272

That fixed it! Interesting, thought all 4-wire o2 sensors were the same

    code p2272

All rite I ordered the downstream o2 sensor, see if that fixes it. Thank you

    code p2272

Hi my CEL came one a week ago and pulled the code p2272 which is o2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2 running lean. So I replaced the sensor with a o2 that was for the upstream that I had. The CEL came back on after replacing it. My question is are both the upstream and downstream o2 sensors the same sensor or are they not interchangeable? If they are I'll probably be replacing my catalytic converter next sence I can't find anything else wrong.

    Bad water pump

So i got the timing cover off, the water pump put a hole in the timing cover. When I pulled the timing cover off the timing chain slipped off the water pump pulley messing up the timing. Does anyone know how to set up the primary timing? It says in the repair manual there should be 3 timing marks on the timing chain to line up but I only see one on the chain. Edit: Pulled the timing chain and it does have timing marks, 2 that are black that I couldn't see with it on. Got the new water pump on and the timing chain back on with the timing marks inline. Will take picks of the what the pump did to the timing cover and what the bad water pump looks like

    Bad water pump

Figured out after doing some research that there are weep holes on the water pump that leak water out of the front engine cover so it makes sense.

    Bad water pump

I just bought a used a 2007 lincoln MKX less than a month ago. I was driving home and it started overheating so I pulled over and it was leaking coolant. Got it towed home and looked at it the next day and all the coolant had drained out. I put water back into the radiator and right away the water started leaking out on the front passengers side. I turned the engine on and I can hear the water pump whining like the bearing is going bad. My question is if it was a bad water pump that was leaking would water be able to leak out of the front engine cover? Or is it more likely the head gasket blew and it has an external coolant leak. After running it for a little bit water started getting into the oil and the water that was leaking out had oil in it too. I'm just hoping its just the water pump and not also a bad head gasket.
