  1. My 08 Limited has 165,000 miles on it so I'll be changing them again soon. Best advice, as was said earlier is to take your time and take pictures. It is not hard, just can appear overwhelming initially. Make sure you replace the gaskets as well when reinstalling the upper manifold. They are not expensive.

  2. My 2008 has nothing compared to macbwt but 150,000 trouble free miles driving in the NY metro area is nothing to be ashamed of. As the saying goes take care of the car (regular maintenance) and it will take care of you.

  3. I have an 08 Edge Limited with 150,000 miles on it. Like the one you are looking at it is fully loaded (roof, nav, power trunk lid, etc). Mine is AWD as well. The key is the maintenance. I have absolutely no issues with mine and fully expect to go well over 200K with it. My daily commute is over 120 miles and I don't even think about the mileage on it. That said, I make sure I never skip a service though I do most of them myself.

As for issues, the only non-maintenance repair I have had to do was the infamous PTU seal on the AWD's. Mine went at 92K. I may have been lucky given the other horror stories I have read but mine was fixed on the first try at a reasonable price at a Ford dealer I trust. I never had another issue with it.

I'd say that if you can get proof of maintenance on the car, the mileage shouldn't be a worry.

  4. I recently purchased a used 2008 Edge and I LOVE it!! Just dont tell my employer (mopar). Anyway I love the sirius and just started my account and am noticing that with the A/C on the signal cuts out (almost like a CD skip) every so often. With the A/C off there is no issue and reception is flawless. Is this normal?? I know chrysler has several updates to software for satallite cut out problems. Any thoughts on the matter from more seasoned Ford owners??? Thanks in advance.

I have a 2008 also but never experienced the problem you are having. The Sirius tuner is mounted in the trunk under the spare tire cover. I would check the connections back there to make sure all are tight and you don't have any cuts/nicks in any of the wiring.

  5. If there aren't any obstructions it could be a bad antenna or a problem with the Sirius tuner. I have an 08 and the tuner is located in the spare tire wheel well. It's mounted on the front wall of the well towards the bumper. I'd check there first and make sure all connections are tight. I did have to have mine replaced for the same thing (not acquiring a signal) but it was easy and didn't involve removing the head unit or anything like that.

    Hi all, 3rd post.

    2010 Edge SEL.

Have and like Sirius, but there are times when I do not get reception, instead I get "acquiring signal" and nothing.

This happens sometimes after I drive the car home, with Sirius working, then park and go out 1/2 hr later and no signal.

I turn the unit off, wait a minute, turn it on, and still no signal.

Then 10 minutes down the road, I get a signal.

It's happened about a dozen times so far, and I cannot see any obstructions to signal reception.

Does this sound like the radio/head unit, or it there a signal issue?

    Thx

  6. I had a couple of issues with rattles and managed to track both down. You don't mention if the noise is coming from the front glass or fixed rear glass.

My front glass noise was actually coming from the shade and not the glass. I had a passenger in the back seat push up on the headliner while the noise was occurring and it stopped. Traced it to a loose screw holding the shade bracket. Like yours it was only noticeable in certain temperature ranges.

If it is coming from the rear fixed glass it could be one of two things. The black trim ring can come loose causing a rattle, Push up on it and see if it stops, I also noticed that I was missing two of the little rubber spacers that sit between the black trim ring and the window frame which was causing the rattle. Hope this info helps.

  7. I am going to be trading in my 2007 Edge FWD for a 2010 AWD. What are your impressions of the AWD performance in rain and snow? My wife has a Subaru Tribeca so I guess I would be surprised if the Ford Edge is even in the same ball park performance wise.

I had a 2005 Subaru Outback and traded it for the 2008 Edge Limited AWD I own today. I live in the Northeast and last winter I did not notice any significant difference between the two cars in winter weather handling. I've been quite impressed with the Edge. I have a R/T commute of more than 100 miles so I have been through a bit of tough weather. I've been using the stock Pirelli tires but with them now hitting 35K miles, I may switch to dedicated winter tires. Honestly, in any car my experience is that the tire can be the limiting factor more than the type of AWD system.

Good Luck in whatever you decide.

  8. Depends how high the lip is. Works with my Ford cargo liner.

The 2009 has "button" fasteners ( I think 4 of them) installed in the side trim of the cargo area up high on both sides and also 2 "latch" type rings on the floor door trim piece on either side of the door latch. I don't know if there are any on the floor itself so it might not interfere with a cargo mat. Not sure.

  9. Thank you for the info. I have heard this exact problem with other vehicles and the steering angle sensor was the culprit. I talked with my guy today and he says the codes are for a rear wheel speed sensor. He said a common problem, so they are replacing both to be proactive. The bad news is that the parts have to come from the U.S. ( I am in Canada , where they make the damned thing ! ) So I have at least a week of driving a crappy Focus.

Great they are replacing both - mine also led them to a rear speed sensor at one point. Hope all works out.

  10. What ended up being the problem ? I currently have the same issue and its at the dealer right now. They are looking at it in the morning.

I've been through this - multiple trips to the dealer, multiple visits for Ford reps to look at the car. Multiple senors, PCU and other parts replaced. They finally found it to be a faulty sensor in the steering wheel. It was sending a false signal triggering every alert on the dash. They removed the center part of the wheel where the horn/airbag exist, replaced a position sensor and I never saw it again. You might want to talk with your service manager and have him talk with Ford about it if it's not something else obvious. I should note that the alerts were all being triggered in error - aside from the annoyance of having the lights go on and off, the car was fine. hope that helps....

  11. Lex -

I've been reading this with quite a bit of interest - thanks for solving it. If it's not too much trouble can you show a "final" picture of what the connections look like? I'm trying to figure out the best way to wire this up.

    Thanks

    :happy feet: SOLVED :happy feet:

    Here is the final solution!

    ------------------

Tie into blue wire w/red striped wire connector for the mirror up in the headliner - this is your power source

Tie into whatever ground you desire (metal connection in roof, black #14 pin wire, there is a metal bolt right there in roof) - this is your ground

Power source wire goes into pin hole #2

Ground wire goes into pin hole #1

    You decide your own connections.

    ------------------

see my previous posts about location of said 2 critical pin holes and photos.

Thanks for the help and tip offs.... it allowed me to trial and error and piece it all together! Enjoy as it is a great, simple mod. knowing what I have here now, this is maybe a 15-20 minute mod well worth the effort. When you supply power to car, viola... you can now see the lights at night :)

  12. PROBLEM SOLVED

On day 5, finally my Edge is ready. No more false lights going on and off.

The culprit? Incredible as it seems, the Steering Position Sensor installed just behind the steering wheel and adjacent of the turn-signal lever. For some strange reason, this sensor was wreaking havoc on the rest of the system, creating false warnings, and even disabling the airconditioning compressor. This tiny sensor really has big powers!

Drove the entire weekend, and it is perfect! But my dealer did agree that it was a real challenge to find this error, and they "learned a lot" of the debugging process.

I am glad to be again in my Edge, because I couldn't stand the bumpy-ride that their loaner car (new Ford Explorer Sportrac) gave me. I guess, I'm not a fan for Rugged Trucks suspension.

    Nilton.

I'm having the same exact symptoms with my 08 - it started happening the day after I bought it. My dealer just ordered the same part (steering position sensor) but it's on backorder. Just curious if you ever saw it occur again after they replaced the part or is it still working since they fixed it.

    Thanks

  13. Picked up my brand new 08 Limited last Saturday. During the first cold engine start on Sunday morning all of the dash warning lights stayed lit. Message Center read "ODO Data Error". As the engine warmed the lights went off one by one until only the Service Engine light remained lit. Regular odometer reading replaced the error message in the message center as well. Dealer pulled code P0260F and called Ford Hotline. Ford recommended updating the PCM software and replacing the PCM should it occur again. Needless to say, the next morning same exact scenario occurred on cold start. By the time I drove 10 minutes to the dealer the lights (except for the Service Engine) are out so dealer wants to hold it overnight and see if it generates any different codes when cold. Any one else experience anything like this? Anyone know what that code means - I couldn't find it anywhere although the service ticket makes reference to the PCM "losing data". BTW - it seems to drive ok even with the service engine light on - no misses, leaks, odd smells or lurching. Car was built in April so it should have most of the updates. Thanks in advance..
