Just another data point. My 08 AWD Limited has 210K on it. I had to replace a PTU seal at 90K (which I caught right away) but never had any other issues. Perhaps it is luck of the draw and perhaps I'm one of the "lucky" ones but mine is still going strong.

My 08 Limited has 165,000 miles on it so I'll be changing them again soon. Best advice, as was said earlier is to take your time and take pictures. It is not hard, just can appear overwhelming initially. Make sure you replace the gaskets as well when reinstalling the upper manifold. They are not expensive.

My 2008 has nothing compared to macbwt but 150,000 trouble free miles driving in the NY metro area is nothing to be ashamed of. As the saying goes take care of the car (regular maintenance) and it will take care of you.

I have an 08 Edge Limited with 150,000 miles on it. Like the one you are looking at it is fully loaded (roof, nav, power trunk lid, etc). Mine is AWD as well. The key is the maintenance. I have absolutely no issues with mine and fully expect to go well over 200K with it. My daily commute is over 120 miles and I don't even think about the mileage on it. That said, I make sure I never skip a service though I do most of them myself. As for issues, the only non-maintenance repair I have had to do was the infamous PTU seal on the AWD's. Mine went at 92K. I may have been lucky given the other horror stories I have read but mine was fixed on the first try at a reasonable price at a Ford dealer I trust. I never had another issue with it. I'd say that if you can get proof of maintenance on the car, the mileage shouldn't be a worry. Tom

Autom8r, or anyone else with 100k on the car, did you have any issues removing the old plugs? I'm about to do mine at 99k but am a little worried about running into a siezed plug. Did you end up having to replace the manifold gaskets? Thanks

I have a 2008 also but never experienced the problem you are having. The Sirius tuner is mounted in the trunk under the spare tire cover. I would check the connections back there to make sure all are tight and you don't have any cuts/nicks in any of the wiring.

You could go to Helminc.com. They have online subscriptions to Ford shop manuals. I think you can get a 72hr subscription for about $10 US. It should be long enough to do the job or at least be able to print off the instructions.

If there aren't any obstructions it could be a bad antenna or a problem with the Sirius tuner. I have an 08 and the tuner is located in the spare tire wheel well. It's mounted on the front wall of the well towards the bumper. I'd check there first and make sure all connections are tight. I did have to have mine replaced for the same thing (not acquiring a signal) but it was easy and didn't involve removing the head unit or anything like that.

Have you tried www.motorcraftservice.com ? You can get an online subscription to the repair manuals. In the past I've taken a short online subscription (72hrs) - done the repair, and printed the directions off for the next time. They seem to be pretty complete. Good Luck

I had a couple of issues with rattles and managed to track both down. You don't mention if the noise is coming from the front glass or fixed rear glass. My front glass noise was actually coming from the shade and not the glass. I had a passenger in the back seat push up on the headliner while the noise was occurring and it stopped. Traced it to a loose screw holding the shade bracket. Like yours it was only noticeable in certain temperature ranges. If it is coming from the rear fixed glass it could be one of two things. The black trim ring can come loose causing a rattle, Push up on it and see if it stops, I also noticed that I was missing two of the little rubber spacers that sit between the black trim ring and the window frame which was causing the rattle. I had a 2005 Subaru Outback and traded it for the 2008 Edge Limited AWD I own today. I live in the Northeast and last winter I did not notice any significant difference between the two cars in winter weather handling. I've been quite impressed with the Edge. I have a R/T commute of more than 100 miles so I have been through a bit of tough weather. I've been using the stock Pirelli tires but with them now hitting 35K miles, I may switch to dedicated winter tires. Honestly, in any car my experience is that the tire can be the limiting factor more than the type of AWD system. Good Luck in whatever you decide.

The 2009 has "button" fasteners ( I think 4 of them) installed in the side trim of the cargo area up high on both sides and also 2 "latch" type rings on the floor door trim piece on either side of the door latch. I don't know if there are any on the floor itself so it might not interfere with a cargo mat. Not sure.

* Great they are replacing both - mine also led them to a rear speed sensor at one point. Hope all works out.
