  1. UPDATE: I learned it was the Engine Oil Sensor Switch. It was leaking oil from where the body and connector meet. I have since replaced it as it was only $12 via O'Reilly auto parts, I went with one of the aftermarket brands. I also learned it is not the easiest to get to with its location. I will say and meant to let you guys know before I knew it was not the Power Steering as that had recently been redone already. I would suggest investing in a short handle rachet, as well, for this job; as you don't have to pull the belt and the component off if you don't want to. It probably is the recommended route to go for one person, though. Also I would suggest once the engine cools done to go ahead and remove the oil filter to give you a little more room. You also, for best access, want the vehicle on jack stands or ramps, as I found it was easier to get to from the lower side vs. the upper side. I plan on posting a video on YouTube about this also and will let you know when it is there. -Mike
  2. My 2008 Ford Edge SEL recently started leaking oil, at first glance I thought it was from the filter area, but I have since learned it appears to be coming from the topside of a component mounted to right(looking from bottom up) that is driven by the serpentine belt. I have not figured out what this component is yet. Any thoughts are appreciated.
  3. I had the same issue a few months back, Gorilla. I took it to the dealers Ford Garage and learned it was a bad Turbine Speed Sensor, which is apparently an internal one also. I had purchased a ESP via the dealer when I purchased it and which was then covered under my ESP. I would definitely get it into your local Ford garage so they can help you with this.
  4. Anyone aware of any recalls on transmissions for the Edges'? A couple of months ago I had and issue with transmission, took to dealer and they found an internal sensor was bad. Thank goodness for purchase of extended powertrain warranty, good for 100K miles. Well last night it almost started doing the same thing again, stuck in a low gear; however this time the speedometer stopped working, got a Tire Pressure Monitor Fault, Mileage blanked out, Airbag light on and then the nice orange wrench also. Called dealership and going to try and get it in tomorrow night. Just wondering if others ever had this at all. -Mike
  5. I like mine, I purchased a used one a couple of months ago, with 138,000 miles on it. One of the internal transmission sensors went out within the first couple of days. But called dealership and they fixed no problem since. The only thing I am concerned with currently, and maybe some one here can advise is the mpg recently dropped rather significantly went from 20-21 city down to 14-15 city.
  6. Go online and just google the OEM parts. Each will need to be purchased separately. You may be able to find a junkyard or vehicle recycler that has them to save the cost of them brand new. Then you should be able to check you tube for a video on installing them yourself. I found them locally myself and just need warm weather to install them. Only cost me $175. There is my two cents on the topic.
  7. I bought it used. High mileage to, hopefully not a bad thing either. One previous owner that was in an accident with it, from what I could find on the Auto Check report. Did a lot of research on the Edge as well before purchasing this one. Family friend owns a Ford Dealership and Garage also. He was a great resource. Purchased the WeatherTech floor liners for the front and back seats also, but bought a Husky floor liner for the rear storage area. Purchased everything via Amazon also. This spring I will be doing a lot to the vehicle also to improve things like the fuel economy as well. Been way to cold to do anything yet. Bought an extended warranty via the dealership I purchased it from that covers the power train for an extra 100K miles also. Used it within the first week also. Internal tranny sensor went bad. I only had to pay $100 of what would have been an expensive repair.
  8. Bought my Edge a couple of months ago from a local dealership. Hope this forum can provide insight into issues when they arise.
