  1. I think I answered my own question and found this TSB 12-3-18: 18 INCH CHROME-CLAD ALUMINUM WHEEL OUTBOARD RIM FLANGE CORROSION http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/TSb/DownloadPdf?id=176769
  2. Ressurecting an old thread here but we have this problem on our 2008 Ford Edge, all four of the 18" outer rims are getting really corroded. There's like a white or creamy colored film around the outer rims and it looks horrible. I keep our vehicle meticulously clean but it seems to get worse and worse. Our weather in Vancouver is mostly rain. Very little snow if any at all so seldom is there any salt on the roads. Don't know what could be causing this but what is our recourse? These wheel covers are so expensive. I've read on the Internet about many others with the same problem, maybe there is a TSB since it is such a widespread problem?
  3. Resurrecting somewhat of an old thread here but I get this exact same problem and I'm wondering if anyone has managed to resolve it. I have a 2008 Ford Edge with 96,000 km on it. It's in immaculate condition. When I slow down to about 10 km per hour from about 30 to 50 km per hour and then step on the gas to speed up again right away, I get a "jerk' or as it is referred to here, a "hard shift" (while accelerating slowly from already moving fairly slowly). It is hard enough to move me in my seat which is why I think this is also a safety issue aside from a mechanical one. I've looked at many other threads about this, seems like LOTS of people with all different years of Ford Edges and even the MKX have this problem. My vehicle has done this from the day we bought it. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it is so annoying. If it's something as simple (?) as replacing the transmission sensors (as someone noted in one of the threads here in this forum) as opposed to replacing the whole transmission, I could live with that. I finally called Ford Canada today about this issue and they have "no information" available about this problem which is really interesting because it seems to be so widespread. They also told me that they do not monitor the Internet as there could be "Ford haters" in these forums! I'd say most of the people here are Ford LOVERS. I don't expect them to monitor the Internet but hello... do we have a problem here or what? I see no TSB about this anywhere, including the Ford Canada site.
  4. No, it's not the bulb The light only comes on when the visor is in a certain position. I managed to get the lens off but I'm wondering if anyone has taken the entire mirror off of the visor and if so, how did they do it? Our home link buttons work fine in any visor position. When you're looking straight up at it, there is constant 12VDC+ positive on the right side of the light bulb socket (looks like a small fuse holder) so I am assuming that the ground on the left hand side of the light bulb socket is switched and the ground wire is loose. The contacts seem fine. I can't see any screws so if anyone has ever taken one of these off the visor, let me know what the trick is. BTW, the bulbs for these vanity lights in the visors are DE3021 - slightly smaller in width but same diameter. Took a bit of searching on the net and calling around but I managed to find them at Lordco (in case you're reading this and live in Canada).
  5. I'm not a fan of car alarms, at least not the 'affordable' ones. Seems that every alarm we ever had (installed by the 'pros') would go off with the slightest nuance. In the last vehicle we owned, we had a simple flashing blue LED on the console that was easy enough for even a non-technoid like me to install. I'd like to put one of these in our 2008 Edge AWD Limited, just the flashing LED (which flashes by itself, no relay needed - that I know for sure). Has anyone in this forum done this and if so, where did they put the LED - console, dash, elsewhere? And where was it connected? Our last vehicle was real old and the wires were simple to figure out. This Edge is quite different with all the electronics (no navigation but just message center). Ford wants a small fortune to install a security system - probably a week's worth of work (for me in order to pay for it). Thanks in advance.
  6. Works like a charm, so glad I joined the forum and thank you for answering my questions so quickly!
  7. That explains it. For some reason, we thought there were _two_ memory positions for each driver. That didn't make sense to me but thank you for clearing it up! You've been so helpful
  8. Just going to out to the garage to do this now, sorry for all the questions. Seems to me I read somewhere on the forum before posting my original question that in the 2008 Edge, I can only program 1 memory position per IKT. I thought since there were position 1, position 2 and a set button on the driver's door, I could program two different seat memories per IKT. Do I have this correct? Or, does the 1 apply to one IKT and the 2 apply to the other IKT (in which case, how do you which IKT to use or does it matter)? Thanks again. My wife and I find this so confusing
  9. I didn't get around to doing this yet today, busy with the kids. One question before I try this tomorrow morning (from a non-techno person). Key in ignition obviously but do I have to turn accessory on or is just key in ignition good enough? That's not clear at all in the user manual (unless I missed something). If accessory needs to be on, perhaps that's why it didn't work for me because I'm positive I did this as per the instructions on page 136. I pressed lock (not unlock) on the IKT, though - seems to me in the manual it says you can press either one. Thanks in advance.
  10. Ok thank you. I will give that a try and report back.
  11. Hi there, we just bought a used 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD in immaculate condition. We love it but cannot figure out how to program the memory seats for my wife and I. There seem to be 2 separate sets of instructions in the users manual on page 136 and on page 150. Does the easy entry feature have to be disabled first before programming? Key in accessory mode or just key in ignition? Do you get two settings (1 and 2) per key or just one? Can someone be kind enough to give us a step by step instruction on how to do program them? No matter which key we use, the seat settings stay the same as per how they were last set when the vehicle was turned off. The seat does not move at all when we press the unlock on the remote.
