  1. In response to Edge member: I was fearful that removing the battery from the intelligent key to render it inoperable would result in the loss of programming. Found it very easy to simply wrap it in Mylar and hide it in the vehicle. I purchased an extra key for $138.00 from the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and was suprised to hear that they wanted $75.00 to program it. I did it myself by following the instructions in the manual in less than 5 minutes! Charging that much to program a key that costs over $100 is adding insult to injury especially when it takes so little time and effort to do the programming.
  2. Purchased an extra Intelligent Key to hide in my Ford Edge vehicle in case of loss of the original. O course entry can be made to the vehicle via the keypad device. The problem is that it must be stored in such a manner as to make it unrecognizable to the system. One way to do so is to wrap it up in MYLAR, a material which blocks the signals from entering or escaping. Party balloons are made of MYLAR and of course can be easily obtained. I don't know how many layers it takes, I just wrap the intelligent key up in the material, put a rubber band on it and hide it in the vehicle. It works!
