  1. Note that there was an announcement (Jan. 9, 2014) by Ford that 2010-2013 Edge and MKX vehicles built at the Oakville Assembly Plant from May 3, 2010 through March 28, 2013 are having the brake booster warranty extended to ten years or 150,000 miles. If you are having a problem with the brake booster you should be able to get it fixed for free. I was just looking at ordering parts and attempting it myself - so glad I found this. Its in a letter with subject "Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02" The letter is posted in the thread at http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13888-13n02-extended-warranty-coverage-on-brake-booster/
  2. I just bought a 2010 Ford Edge SEL. It has Sync, but no touch screen display. The microphone is built into the headliner (not part of mirror). My microphone is not working at all for either voice commands or for phone hooked up via bluetooth. I've gotten to the back of the stereo unit, but I don't think that is where the microphone goes. Based on what I'm reading it goes to a Sync module but I can't find where this is? Does Ford call this module something different? I've subscribed to alldatadiy.com but that hasn't been of much help. Where should I look for open connections, unplugged connectors, etc.? I did find the replacement microphone for around $100 but I want to make sure that its not something simple first. I'm also considering an after market stereo (perhaps the JVC KW-NSX700). Would I lose any functionality with an after market stereo? For example the back up sensor warnings go through the OEM stereo (but also are displayed on the driver's dash display). I assume after stereo replacement it would just go through the driver's display only so I wouldn't lose anything. Would I lose any functionality with an aftermarket stereo that would surprise me?
