  1. Looking up my Edge with the vin number on Fords site, I come up with 2 front rotor options and 2 pad options. 1125(BRRF-101) rotor 1125(BRR-241) rotor O.D. is 12.60", Retail 2001(BR-1258B) pads Ford Retail Spec (Front) 2001(BRF-901)
  2. They didn't say exactly what was wrong, other than they had some problems in the past with them. We drove the car when we first got to the dealer today, I went close by and got out and had my wife drive slow so I could walk beside and listen. Where they had move the wheels to the front the sound was there now. After replacing the wheel we drove it again, and the sound was gone. We drove it for around 80 miles this evening and so far so good. I really hope this takes care of it.
  3. After 2 days and $1000 they finally found the problem. It seems that 2 of my 20" chrome clad wheels were somehow causing the noise? After replacing the rear brakes, they call today and say that the original sound had been fixed, but now we had a squeaking sound coming from the front? We never had a squeaking sound coming from the front before. We go to the dealer, and they had put the rear wheels on the front. I knew this, because when I did the rear brakes originally I had cleaned the backs of the wheels and I seen that as soon as I pulled up. I tell them that the sound is now on the front, maybe because my rear wheels are now on the front, hmm. It turns out, they had to replace 2 of the wheels, Ford payed for 65% of the cost, which I guess since the Edge has 50,000 miles, its a pretty good deal. I still am a bit sour that I had to pay for a brake job that was not causing me a problem in the first place, but the sound is gone, and not to have to hear my wife complain about it every time we go somewhere is worth the cost lol.
  4. Well, as per the professionals at my Ford service dept, my new rotors that I out on are now warped. So they are going to install new rotors and pads to correct the problem, again. I have no idea what else to do at this point other than to let them do it. But when the sound returns in a few days atleast I can go back on them this time. I will keep this post updated.
  5. Thanks autom8r for replying. When I did the rear brakes I used Hawk pads and I greased all the pins and guides with the Hawk grease. About the only time I use the parking brake is when I wash the car, which I would say is every other week atleast.
  6. I've been in touch with Fordservice here, they've put me in touch with the regional rep, I didn't hear from her yesterday, so we'll see what tomorrow holds. I lost alot of confidence on Wednesday while I was waiting on my wife to arrive at the dealer with the car. Someone was picking up their truck after having something done to it, but I watch the owner pop the hood, and they reach and pick up a pretty big piece of black plastic that didn't get reattached lol. The service guy came out and worked on it in the lot. So I'm not holding out much hope things will be any better tomorrow, but I will post back.
  7. I wanted to come back and update my post here. I replaced my pads and rotors on the rear and the sound went away for about a week, but it did come back. Right now my Edge is sitting at the dealer and after a full day of them working on it, they have no clue as to what is causing the problem. This is very troubling to me, how can the people that built a vehicle not be able to figure out whats wrong with it?
  8. Our 2011 Edge has developed a sound in the left rear wheel that sounds almost as if 2 pieces of metal were being kinda brushed against each other. I pulled the wheel and checked the pads, they are worn, but not completely. Also with the wheel off the ground it has a bit of drag to it, but I cant really hear the same sound it makes when its on the ground. I had my wife drive around while I had the rear door opened listening, and one thing that confuses me, if she drags the brakes, the sound is still there, brush brush brush. IF it were a pad, wouldn't the sound be a solid grinding sound? If you've ever heard a rotor being turned on a lathe that's what it sounds like.
  9. I'm leaning the way of the switch, but before I dive in I want to add when I pull the lever back I do feel a notch, its not like its all one smooth motion. And I have tried pushing forward on my lever and it doesn't want to go that direction, so I'm pretty sure I have the pull back lever. I've done some searching on the replacing of the switch but I've not found anything on the Edge, only how to do one on the Explorer. Would it be safe to assume the process would be close to the same? I hate to start snapping plastic parts off and have things fall out and not know where they came from lol.
  10. I just got in from driving the car and I did try to push the lever away from me but it won't go forward so... It's sure looking like one of your culprits Akirby. Help me in my thought here but shouldn't I at least get an indicator light on the gauge panel when I pull my lever back? That's almost telling me that it could be in the switch, but what do I know lol.
  11. I really regret to say that it was not the fuse. I pulled and tested #39 but that was not it. I even tried to put a new one in with hopes my meter was reading wrong but nope. And yup Waldo, the low beams are on, thats when I realized I had the problem, last night when I need a bit more light and I hit the high beams and nothing happened I tried as you said, to listen for any sound from the front end area when switching from low to high, but I don't hear anything. It was suggested to me today that I should check the bulbs to see if the high filament is burnt out, but my only question is would both bulbs burn out at the same time? And in reading the manual it says the HID bulb has to be changed by the dealer? Man I can handle most mechanical problems, but when it comes to the electrical side of things, thats a whole new ballgame lol. And to add I also don't have any flash to pass lights either.
  12. When I pull back on the lever, I get nothing, no click, no high beam indicator light on the gauge panel, nothing. I thought the Edge was like every other vehicle I have driven and you just pull back to turn them on, but it appears mine are not working.
  13. I'm not sure if I have a problem or not, but... tonight was the first time driving when I needed to use my high beam lamps, but I don't have any. My Edge has factory installed HID lamps, so my question is, do I have a high beam option? I have been searching here and the rest of the internet about this problem, and I have found a few others with this, and I've read where the HID lamps are single filament, so no high beam? If this is so, I dont care much for it because my old eyes need a bit more help lol. If this is not the case, any clues as to what I should look at first? I hope to avoid dealer service $ if I can, Thanks.
  14. I tried to connect my ext hd today, but the system didn't play well with it, I was told that it was not compatible, which I don't understand, its newer that the vehicle lol. I will see what I can come up with this weekend that will work. In the meantime I did get our Edge cleaned up today and I posted a few pics here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14545-first-new-edge-and-couldnt-be-happier/ This SUV is a dream!
  15. You sure have that part right! It could not have rained here for a month, but the day I wash the car, you can bet it will rain soon lol. I finally got the Edge cleaned up, man this thing is a 2 hour process to wash, dry, clean the inside and tire shine, but the paint is in great shape and I hate to start running it through the car washes and getting all the fine scratches on it. I really like how the wheels shine up, its hard to believe they're a factory wheel. Here's some pics, nothing you all haven't seen before, but its my first time posting them hehe. I'd like to add I'm enjoying reading the forums, there's a lot in information to be gained here, you all are great!
