  1. I intended to replace my harmonic balancer today but in preparing for that found two new issues. An apparent transmission leak And a possible power steering leak Any advice or opinions?
  2. Thanks! It could be the tensioner but I found another post on this forum where someone corrected belt noise via balancer replacement. I can see it wobble a bit, so for $50 bucks might as well swap it out while doing the belts.
  3. I plan on replacing the harmonic balancer on my 2011 SEL (3.5L) in the coming days. I have had a squeaking coming from the belt system for over a year now and looking at the balancer as it turns reveals a slight wobble. Since the belts should be replaced I figured I'd do the balancer at the same time and hopefully it will correct the squeak. Does anyone have any tips for this job? Secondly, does anyone know the torque specs for the replacement balancer bolt I bought from Ford? And if anyone can provide advice on how to most easily install the stretch belt, that would be appreciated too.
  4. You're unbelievable. A 3 year old car with 37k miles is falling apart and it's the owner's fault for not getting an extended warranty? What about manufacturing a decent vehicle? And you're the moderator here? Hilarious.
  5. Unfortunately, not at all satisfied. Bought a used 2011 Edge SEL AWD from a Ford dealer in November 2013 and have had half a dozen problems in the first 6 or so months. 1. Glitches with the SEL message center, false warnings and flaky screen and freezing steering wheel controls. Note, I'm not talking about MFT, I don't have it. 2. Door ajar light, you know the story 3. Transmission slip/bump from takeoff 4. Engine oil leak, dealer replaced the oil pressure sending unit, 3 weeks later the leak is back. I don't think their diagnosis was correct. It will be going back right away 5. Weather stripping pulls out of place in cold weather and other general fit and finish issues 6. Dash/instrument cluster rattles For a 3 year old car with 65,000 kms, it's extremely disappointing. I bought a recent model year with relatively low mileage to avoid these problems. I also own a 2006 Mustang GT that I supercharged with a Ford Racing kit (550 hp). It is older with the same mileage as my Edge and I've raced it at the strip and the road course, flogged the car and never a problem. The Edge transports groceries and it can't even do that without engine and transmission problems. It's sad really. Other than the F-150 and Mustang, I think Ford is to be avoided. The recent model Escape, Edge, Explorer and Flex cars all seem to have quality issues that are coming out now. What the Edge has going for it is looks, it's a handsome vehicle inside and out and a quiet comfortable ride. It's too bad great aesthetics can't be backed up with mechanical integrity.
  6. Three weeks after the Edge came back from the dealer, it is leaking oil again, same location. A visual check under the car confirmed the same problem still exists. I've owned my Edge only about 6 months and it has been a very big disappointment.
  7. The dealer diagnosed and replaced the oil pressure sending unit. One week later the leak appears to be fixed. I will continue to monitor the situation closely.
  8. FORD: ON SOME VEHICLES, THE INTAKE AIR SYSTEM COMPONENTS MAY HAVE ENGINE OIL ACCUMULATION, IN LEFT HAND VALVE COVER BAFFLE MIGRATING THROUGH FRESH AIR INTAKE OF POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) SYSTEM. MODELS 2011-2013 EDGE, EXPLORE I found this partial TSB on the net. When I was looking at my leak it looked like it orginated in the valve cover area. Anyone have the full TSB or more info?
  9. Hello, I have a 2011 Edge SEL AWD with 64,000 km (40,000 miles) which I bought 6 months ago as a lease return from a Ford dealer. Today I noticed drops on my garage floor after I had moved the Edge to clean the interior. The drops were near the passenger side at the front wheel right under the belts and there was at least 20 spots. I drove the car up on ramps and observed that the entire oil pan was covered in oily residue but it seems to be coming from above the pan, as it was oily on the front of the engine above the pan. The alternator was also covered. I checked the dipstick and it was still full or very near. The substance seems like oil based on the dark golden color. Searching the net and these forums I haven't seen any complaints that sound similar. Where does the PTU typically leak from? Looking for any comments or advice. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow, the powertrain warranty is still in effect. Needless to say I'm pretty upset about this, a car this old and with such low mileage shouldn't have fluids pouring out. In addition my car has the harsh transmission shift issue from low speeds and a driver's door sensor that has failed completely.
