  1. With about 2500 miles on my 2013 Edge, I reset the trip odometer while on the highway, set the car to cruise at 70mph and watched the gas mileage get up to 25.8 mpg. Not bad. Too bad I do a good bit of local driving. ;-)

  2. Guess I should have read this first. I followed the instructions and found air bubbles when I pulled the paper off the top. Ended up lifting the rubber off the bumper from the middle of each side and reapplying the plastic part so I think I ended up with no bubbles.

It looks nice, but for a musician like me, it does NOT offer much real protection. If you're going to charge that kind of money for that chintzy a part (that the user has to then install), at least make it cover the entire thickness of the bumper. I'm off to find some moving blanket material to put over the bumper during loading and unloading.

  3. I think the screws should hold well for a long time if it's installed correctly. The reason I think this is the cover material is fairly lightweight so it should not really put any stress on the snaps. Also you should not be putting anything on top of this cover, so again there should be no additional weight for it to support. Last is the snaps are not really tight fitting, meaning they pull apart or unsnap fairly easy.

Tips I would suggest to be sure the screws hold tight are to use the correct drill bit that is mentioned in the instructions so the holes are no bigger than it needs to be. Don't go crazy with a highspeed drill so as to not heat up the plastic and make the hole bigger than it needs to be. In fact you could even use a pin vice or hand held drill bit tool if you like as the drill bit cuts through the plastic fairly easy. Last is don't overtighten the screws, just snug it up and stop.

If you follow the instructions and tape down the template the holes will be in the correct positions (as I found out).

    Good luck.

I installed the snap screws. Two weren't properly formed, but pushing the phillips head into the plastic took care of that. I used the small drill bit and an angled electric screw driver to drill the holes as precisely and slowly as possible. I carefully taped the templates as well before drilling. It was tough to get to the screws towards the hatch. Not much room there. But none of the screws snugged up enough to stop. I used a small hand screwdriver. I don't know how often I'll be taking it out, but if I did unsnap the buttons a lot, I don't have much confidence it would last. Needs nuts on the other side. I'm also disappointed that there is no velcro for the middle headrest as it droops a bit there and the right side seems to droop a little. No matter how you look at it, it's not nearly as clean as the install in my wife's 2013 escape (or our old 2001 or 2007 or the Mitsu Endeavor I traded in on this). And there's no way this should cost about the same as the one for the Escape.

  4. Here is a couple pics of my Ford Cargo Cover from the parts department. IMHO it should come with every Edge from the factory, but in any case it's part number DT4Z-7845440-AA. It was easy to install and I am very happy with it. Takes up virtually no room when storing folded up on top of my spare tire. Another thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to affect the sound coming from the rear sub when the cover is installed.[/

That's the version I just got. Do the bolts feel like they'll stay in with frequent use?

  5. I just received a new cargo shade for my new 2014 Edge. Yeah, it's not worth the money compared to the comparably priced retractable shades in other vehicles like the Escape, but it is what it is and I need it. However, I was shocked to see that in order to install the shade, I'm expected to drill holes for snaps that hold the shade in place on the sides. I thought something tucked down between the plastic sides and the glass! What happens if I screw up and put the snap in the wrong place? Will the plastic hold the snap screws with frequent use over time? Is this possibly an outdated version of the cover since this all seems so ridiculous?

    Your help is sincerely appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. I just ordered Husky Weatherbeater Liners for my Edge. I put the Weather Techs in my wife's 2013 Escape and was very disappointed that it didn't cover the left foot dead pedal and didn't really come up the sides as far as I'd like. Also, when I'm a passenger, my feet go higher than the Weather Tek in the passenger compartment. the Husky goes higher all around. And at $140 shipped for front and 2nd row, it's hard to beat. Passed on the cargo area since they don't protect the sides which is what I really want/need.
