The water pump is still internal in the 2018 3.5L but gaskets, drive chains and other parts are vastly improved over your 2008 version.  With proper maintenance the pumps in 2011 and later Edges are (mostly) lasting a very long time.

Interesting, the water pump on our 2013 3.5L Edge started leaking externally out of a weep hole around 70K. The dealer didn't seem to think it was unusual on the 2013.

  2. 3.5 or 2.0?

The degas bottle/coolant reservoir would be the first bet since you have the OEM Orange coolant. Perhaps the cap is not holding pressure or perhaps there is a crack in the reservoir itself. Have not heard of the hoses leaking, but would check anyway as the hose runs from the reservoir to the radiator.

If it is possibly engine oil, you can check the VCT solenoids/valve cover, and also the engine oil pressure switch for leaks.

Unlikely to be power steering or transmission fluids, I think.

Sorry, it is a 3.5L engine.

Everything up above in the cooling system looks clean. I was wondering if a head gasket leak would end up in this area, or (after reading the forums this morning) if the water pump weep hole might be the issue.

Might have to invest in a small USB camera to have a look.

It is going into the dealer Monday for this and a bunch of other issues: Right axle Shaft leak, right inner tie rod sloppy, squeaky temp door actuators in the HVAC, possible right wheel bearing etc.

  3. Coolant leaking not leaning. I guess I should have had my coffee before posting!

2013 Edge 3.5L has what appears to be red sticky coolant leaking onto the AC Compressor and then dripping into my garage floor. The coolant bottle is down just an inch or so.

I am wondering and looking for a picture of what is located above the compressor that would leak externally?

  4. Our 2013 Edge Limited 3.5L (with Dual Control Heater) is developing a squeak from the dash area. The sound is hard to describe but it sounds like a rubber vacuum actuator opening or closing and the rubber squeaks. EEEEKKK is what it sounds like.

It was infrequent but now happens enough that my wife is starting to notice it.

It is strange in that it can happen right after we shut off the car and we are still sitting inside. We also notice it at idle or when driving slow, on the highway the road noise would probably drown this out.

I see that many folks are replacing the blend door actuator, which is what I suspect but has anyone had one that makes noise?

Of course, when I remove the lower dash panel and listen for it it does not seem to make the noise.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  5. Every vehicle with an independent rear suspension should have a toe adjustment. The Edge doesn't even have rear struts. Sounds like you got what you paid for (ie nothing!).

Thanks, I was able to find the shop manual page online today. There is a toe adjustment, I guess one does get what one pays for....

And to think I took it to a Ford Quick Lane to avoid the idiots I have encountered at Belle Tire.

  6. Is there a rear toe adjustment on a 2013 Edge FWD?

Just installed new Michelin tires, dealer did an 'free' alignment check.

Left rear toe is -0.30 degrees (spec is -0.15 to 0.25 degrees)

    Right rear is at -.0.15

Total rear is -0.42 with total spec at -0.10 to 0.30

They said they 'think' then need to replace rear struts to correct the issue. I am surprised they 'think' that but I am more surprised that there is not an adjustment.

  7. I just joined this Forum to see if anyone else had this issue and if there was a fix.

We get it with the drivers side rear window rolled down about 4~6 inches. If I ride in back and block the wind at the rear of the window the whistle goes away.
