  1. Just wanted to finalize my post. Replaced actuator and the problems are now gone.
  2. Thanks. Although my part has a different last letter. Anyway, called dealer and they were able to tell me the manufacturing date (2/3/11). However, the original part was replaced by new one BT4Z78431A78B, so I can and should get that one (new and cheaper).
  3. I don't know if they are interchangeable. Oddly, my car is manufactured in 02/11. But which exact date, label doesn't say.
  4. The part number on the actuator I removed is BT43-78402A55-AJ. I cannot find it anywhere. Weird.
  5. Looks like the problem is with the actuator. I disconnected it and the liftgate closes and opens quite easily. Now, 2011 EDGE has 2 different actuator part numbers based on (I guess?) production date. One is Part Number: 9A1Z78431A78A (to 2/21/11) and the other one is Part Number: BT4Z78431A78B (from 2/22/11). The difference is the first one is twice the price. Don't know which one I need, though.
  6. Yeah, that's what I am planning to do, disconnect the liftgate arm and see how it works. I feel like it's the arm. If the struts were bad, then closing should not be a problem.
  7. I already tried disabling the power liftgate from message center. Then I opened and closed the liftgate manually and it is hard to open or close (possible but requires a significant push). The amount of push when closing is the same whether power liftgate is enabled or disabled in the message center and it is way harder than it used to be (previously, it required really little effort to close it manually). What do you mean by "mechanical binding" and "repair as necessary"? Repair which part?
  8. Thanks. I saw the posts but none are conclusive. I tend to think it is not the battery because when I disable power liftgate, it is hard to both open and close the liftgate (requires a significant push). Still, I think it can be either struts or actuator and if I replace one I am 50/50 on replacing correct one. Is there a way to figure out which one I need to replace?
  9. I recently started having some intermittent issues with my power liftgate on 2011 EDGE. After pressing a button, it will open about 75% and stop. No chimes. Just stops. The next time it would work just fine opening all the way. I wonder what can be causing this and how do I verify without replacing all 3 parts? 1. Old battery? 2. Hatch/lift supports/struts? 3. Liftgate motor/actuator?
  10. Hey, devs at Ford. Can you comment on this? Can this be fixed?
  11. Thanks! I didn't know about the "Play Voice over Bluetooth" in Navigation. I now have it unchecked. Originally I disabled Media over Bluetooth in the BT connections. Seems like when phone is connected via Bluetooth to the car, it is now "informed" by the car that it is on whereas previously it was doing it ONLY after switching to Bluetooth Source. Therefore, the problem is that phone "thinks" that I will hear the outputs via bluetooth but I won't because I am actually listening to other source. So, MFT fools phone into always sending voice over bluetooth even though I won't hear it. Second issue is worse as I have no idea how to remedy it. When I ask Google for some info like "Traffic to home", it responds over car audio. Now, whatever was on (radio/CD/USB) is interupted (good!) but the playing audio volume is so low I cannot hear it. And the worst part is I cannot now make it work through phone speakers so Google assistant is ALWAYS routed through car audio (even when "Media Audio" is unchecked in the bluetooth settings of the phone for SYNC device). Ford, why can't you make a separate volume control for Voice (from car) and Voice (from Bluetooth devices)? If I want to hear Google assistant, then car prompts and messages will be way too loud. Since I hate too loud car prompts, I can barely hear Google assistant.
  12. After updating my 2011 EDGE to v3.8 I am now sorry I did. I have Android phone. With v3.6.2, when I asked Google for directions, the audio was coming from the phone speakers UNLESS I was streaming via bluetooth. With v3.8, I noticed there was no sound. I thought it was the phone's issue. But no, apparently now even if I listen to music from USB or radio, phone's audio is directed to car (again, previously is was directed to car audio ONLY when when BT Streaming was selected in MFT). It's not bad...unless the volume is extremely low. I cannot hear anything at all. My media volume on the phone is at max. I noticed that modifying Voice volume in MFT will increase the sound volume coming from the phone but it also increases the volume of the car prompts and the prompts become TOO loud if I want to hear the phone. If it could unpair the phone notification volume from in-car prompts (Voice Control) volume...
  13. So...no solution :-(. At least I'm not the only one with this issue.
  14. I've been bugged by this issue for the last 4 years. I have 2011 Ford EDGE Limited with Sony/MFT. The increment/step for volume change is too big. I am listening with volume at 4-6 bars out of, I don't know, 50 maybe. When I change from 4 to 5 the increase in sound volume is too big. Can I modify something to have volume increase more gradually? FYI, I do not have sensitive ears. Actually, my hearing is not very good and my wife thinks that music is too loud in my EDGE. Still, I listen at like 5 out of 50 bars. Is there anything I can do? Can I reduce amp output somehow maybe?
