  1. I'm looking for peoples thoughts on tires for some new 20" wheels that are going on my wife's Edge. I think 255/50/20 is the size I'm looking for. I'm hoping people on this forum can give me some input on Goodyear Eagle RSAs, Goodyear Fortera HLs, or Pirelli Scorpion Zeros, and how they compare to the OEM 18" tires. I'm leaning towards the RSA, because the only time the thing isnt on pavement is when I take it to Tahoe (and the OEM tires nearing the wear marks are good enough for that as evidenced by this past weekend, so the offroad performance is totally secondary). I'm also curious what other folks think about the tire size. I chose that size because the wheels are 20x8.5 with a 35mm offset (meaning they are going to stick out 22mm wider than the OEM wheels), and I don't want the rubber to stick out too much further than that, so no 275/45 for me I think. Thanks in advance. The wheels are on order...just need to sort out the rubber situation. rb
  2. That's certainly an option. I'd rather not have to swap wheels if I can help it, but it may be the right thing to do in the end. I'm just curious what other people have done in case there's a suitable alternative out there.
  3. I'm wondering if anyone has put winter or snow tires (or M+S and\or 'snowflake' tires) on their 20" wheels? I have a 2008 SEL AWD that has become the wife's car. I take it to Tahoe (from the SF Bay Area) pretty regularly, and the stock 18" tires are a little weak in a lot of snow. The wife wants some bling (Incubus Shylocks seem nice), and it seems that winter tires are only available or affordable up to 20". The Blizzaks seem like the best around, but I imagine they're noisy. Goodyear has some too, as I'm sure do others. 245\50\20 is the size of choice there, or others are running something else? Just got started on the hunt, figured I'd start here. Thanks rb
  4. I've got an update here... I spoke with the general manager of the dealership, who put me in touch with the service manager, who asked to see the car again. I took it in earlier today, and it took him about 4 seconds to hear the noise in question. He brought over a lead tech, and it took him about the same amount of time to hear and diagnose the issue as being the fuel pump. They've ordered a replacement and I'll take the car back to have it installed when it arrives. Does anyone know the Tech Bulletin process for Ford? I would think that if there were enough of them making this noise there would be a TSB issued, but I suppose its still early in the model year. Thanks everyone. rb
  5. Mine has the whine also. 2008 SEL AWD. Its been at the dealer for 3 days, and they tell me its the fuel pump, and that the noise is NORMAL. Anyone had any luck getting this fixed? I'm meeting with the shop foreman later today, but I don't expect any help there. Any info would be appreciated...I love the car except for this one thing which drives me crazy. Thanks, rb
  6. I have a 2008 SEL AWD with about 2,000mi on it. Ever since I got it, its been making a very low volume whining noise that you can hear inside the cockpit as well as up to 50 feet away from the car. I took it to the dealer, and after 3 days, they tell me that its the inline fuel pump, and that the noise is NORMAL for my car. Does anyone else hear this? And if so, does it make you crazy too? It drives me mad, and the dealer isn't too interested in fixing it. I'm also curious if anyone has been able to have it repaired somehow. Thanks all. rb
