I just bought a 2019 Ford Edge Se. It was a fleet vehicle that has 180k miles on it. However the transmission and engine have both been replaced. The "new" trans has just under 100k on it and the new engine has 45k on it. Both were done at a dealership.

Much to my dismay, mine bucks at slow speeds just like talked about in this thread. It seems to do it whether warm or cold. If I accelerate a little more aggressive you don't feel it but if you are just slowly coming up to speed it is very evident.

It seems that it is a torque convertor issue from reading this thread. I do not have a warranty and I'm sure since I am not the original owner the Ford Service Dept that did the engine and trans swap won't help either.

What kind of cash should I expect to shell out to get a new torque convertor?

Before you write off the dealership that installed the engine present your case to them, it may be a simple update instead of any thing else. That was the case with mine and it worked fine.

Yes, that was my personal preference. DE badging seems to be a popular thing here in Ca.

A couple other things I noticed between the 2021 I traded in for my 2024:

    Rear camera washer is gone.

    The glovebox light is gone.

    passenger seat is now a 6-way adjustable (2021 was a 10-way)

No more Key-pad on the driver door for keyless entry.

And the 70.00 tray of course.

The glove box light was nice to have.

I agree many niceties are gone, it is a much less classy car .

My biggest gripe is the missing backup camera washer.... I had it on my 2019 Titanium but not on the 2024.

Has anyone come up with a retro fit????

Doesnt the Lincoln stable mate have it?

It's a 2024, my dealer ordered several and this was one of the first and nothing different from the 2023 except you only get one year instead of 3 with the navigation.  2024 will be the last year unless Ford backs down from converting the Oakville plant to EV's .  I would really like to see them making the Edge L that are in China . Also a nice Taurus in the middle east....pics if you Google.

I also have the 2024 Titanium. I noticed last night how dark the picture on the screen was at night while backing up.

Do you know of any adjustments that can be made on the tough screen menue, I couldn't find any.

How can I check for any TSB's or recalls?

  4. I just took delivery of my 2024 Edge Titanium replacing my 2019 Edge Titanium. After putting 300 miles on it I realize that they left out some creature comfort features that were part of the older Edge. So here is a list for you to compare.

1.Central console has  missing lid to phone charger cubby hole as well as missing lid at the top of the dash.

2.The storage under the arm rest no longer has the double click that allows you to reach for the tray or bin. The tray has to be removed to get to the bin where I put the tissue box. The tray has to be picked up to get it out of the way.

3.The steering wheel used to be power adjusted now it is manual.

4.The backup camera lens used to have a dedicated washer nozzle, that is gone.

    5. Securicode touch pad on the drivers door, gone

    6. CD player, gone

    7. Touch sensors on rear door handles, gone

    8. The front headrests used to be adjustable  for tilt, gone

    9. The front door sills were illuminated, gone.

And I still paid for a "Titanium" which is not similar to the 2019 Titanium I had. This bothered me as those features IMHO made it a more refined car.

Thank you. I wonder if I should try at another dealership. The first one has already decided it's fine.  ?

I want so much to love my car, I don't even feel like it's mine yet because I've just been getting things fixed that the selling dealership should've...

Hoping for good news and to hear that others have been successful.

I suggest you stick with the same dealer ship and request that you ride along with the technician with you driving would be best so u can simulate the condition or not. I had mine corrected. It took less than the one hour I normally wait for an oil change. They said they had to follow a tsb that was out. I may have referred to it in my post here about a month ago.

In your case I would NOT go in telling them what to do. Just tell them what's the matter with it.

Don't forget you have a 50,000 mile drivetrain warranty on it.

    Best

    Hi everyone,

I purchased a used 2020 Ford Edge SEL in February with a very low 10,000 miles on it. I traded my '15 Escape in. It's a beautiful car, has everything I wanted.

You cant give up. This is a wonderful car once all is straightened out.

When u go back just tell them something is wrong with the transmission.... Don't give them any tsb number. They'll figure it out...

  7. Glad they were able to diagnose it.

The reset they did to my vehicle is so far flawless. Love it. Will be buying it at end of my lease in June. 33,k so far. Love it.

Its a shame we all had to do through this.

I bet that my next Edge EV (when it comes out) will be better then this.

Thank you gents for your in depth investigation into our Buck & Jerk issue.

In order to explain the issue to my service guy at the dealership I wanted to be able to describe it clearly. So As I am in the Chilly Chicago area I thought I needed to determine under what conditions it starts bucking. Here is what I found out.

    1. Temps in high 20's

    2. Had to drive it for about 20 mins before it exhibited the bucking/jerking  performance. Apparently had to warm up.

    3. It was mostly obvious while driving around a shopping area parking lot with a lot of stop signs..

Next week im scheduled to take it in.

Will advise when I have something to contribute. Again thank you for posting here.

Took my Edge in today. The wording of my complaint was "Transmission is jerking when slowing to a stop"

They performed according to TSB-19-2331 which is basically reprogramed PCM and performed adoptive learning drive cycle.

So far after driving 5 miles its performing like a charm better than my wives' new hybrid Venza and quieter.

I'm keeping this vehicle until Ford comes up with an EV Edge or similar.

Thank you all for your contributing to this "Jerky" cause.

I  noticed that you said the dealership reset your PCM, does that mean they simply cleared the shift adapts or did they actually reprogram the PCM to the most current version? I don't usually go by what a dealership says because I have come across far too many situations where a dealership says there is not an issue and yet there is a tsb that addresses the problem word for word or they just "reset" or clear the PCM memory. As far as the tsb being updated to include new model years, that happens all the time because software glitches can occur regardless of how up to date the software is. Personal computers and phones have updates all the time. Another example is the ZF nine speed that Honda has used since 2015. Just last year Honda released another software update for MDX and TLX models spanning from 2015  to 2020 that had to do with hard shifting. Regards, Jason

No, I didnt take it in yet. Pl see my entry above yours.

  11. I have the same problem with my 2019 edge built before Nov 2018

On a whim I thought of mixing it up and used S mode then went back to regular mode.

    There was a marked improvement.

I also tried using my paddle shifter and got up to 8th gear, it has to be at approx. 2000rpm or greater to kick in.

My suspicion is it has to do with oil flow in the unit but that is my uninformed suspicion.

    It's worth trying it.

  12. I feel that the front windshield should be partially tinted along the top as there is too much glare, I have to drive with the sun visor down all the time.

    Does anyone have this issue?
