  1. Hi! After lots of arguing with my dealership-they will be performing the tsb as this site suggests (regarding the pulling problem). This will be done this Friday. I saw somewhere else on this site that the owner of the vehicle was forced to pay for the repair. May I ask you, PrinzII-DID you have to pay for your repair?

I didn't have to pay for my repair as it was under warranty. As long as the vehicle is less than 3 years old and has less than 36,000 miles on it the warranty will cover the cost. I had to be assertive with my dealership too. The first time I took it in all they did was check the alignment and rotate the tires. I took a copy of the TSB in and demanded they do the repairs listed in the TSB. It drives like a dream now. Good luck!

  2. Let's face it, the mags "like" those who advertise in their publications and lambast those who don't. They critcized the Edge when it came out for not having 7 passenger capacity. Ford already had a 7 seater with the Freestyle/Taurus X. Now, they also have the Flex. The bottom line is, the mags are going to continue to punish the domestics and hail the imports like they always have.

It is interesting to see Toyota building an Edge "me too" vehicle in the Venza. Personally, I don't like Toyota's interiors. They are very cheap looking. And now that Toyota has gotten big, they are having major quality issues. Will C&D and Motortrend start hammering on Toyota now?

  3. when i fill mine up it says 300 till empty shouldnt it be higher than that . mine gets oor gas milage as well is there any thing i can do to get better gas milage with gas increasing every day 3.50 a gallon need to do something .

I just took my Edge out on the first road trip since I bought it. I waited until I got over 1500 miles on it first. Drove 300 miles each way with the AC on and with 50% of the trip over very large hills and mountains. I averaged 22.6 MPG for the entire trip. I thought that was quite reasonable since the vehicle is rated 16 city/24 highway for my FWD vehicle. It certainly beats the 16 - 17 MPG I was getting on my Mountaineer and it definitely is a lot smoother ride.

I'll take her out for a longer road trip in June.

  4. The Weathertech cargo mat is absolutely fantastic. It fits the back perfectly, and is made of very high quality material. Very highly recommended!

I just ordered my Weathertech cargo mat from Amazon.com. It is a brand new mat and only costs US $77.95. The one on Weathertech's site was US $109.95. It also qualifies for free shipping! Just go to Amazon.com and do a search for Weathertech 40325. The 40325 is Weathertech's part number for the Edge cargo mat.

  5. I just got this cargo area liner that helps keep the rear area clean when picking up "dirty" item. It can be ordered here or picke up at any of their stores. The cost is $29.50 CDN and will cover from the rear of the front seats to the liftgate and a bit more.

I have it stored in the rear cargo management area by the spare tire.

I just ordered a Weathertech Cargo mat for my 2008 Edge on Amazon.com. It was only US $77.95 versus the US $109.95 on Weathertech's own sight. This is a brand new cargo mat. Go to Amazon.com and do a search for Weathertech 40325. It also qualifies for free shipping so there is no charge if you are willing to wait a few extra days.

  6. I have the Blazing Copper Edge - but with different paint problems.

I still have the missing cosmetic paint on the liftgate, behind the doors etc. I am not too worried because a lot of other vehicles have this stupid money saving feature - morons. Ooohh, we put out crap for years and wonder why people dont buy our vehicles - doi!

Mine has dirt UNDER the clear coat. This is not IN the clear coat, like rail dust from transportation (that came out with my polish btw), but the dirt is actually UNDER the clear coat. I am taking it in next week - that is the first available time i can get the car (it is my wifes) and bring it to the dealer to document it.

I dont have the primer problems on the outside panels. I still polish seal and wax the interior panels (more so since there is no paint) to help protect it. Yes, you cant see them. However, they STILL get hit with the environment such as salt dirt and grime, and most people dont clean there.

Actually, the missing cosmetic paint is not a money saving feature. It just means that it wasn't painted properly and was missed at inspection and shipped out of the plant. If it bothers you, I'd have it painted while they are doing the other repair work for you.

  7. How did you make out with the pull and the TSB at the dealer???

I go in next week and will be bringing in the same TSB.

It is not 100% perfect but definitely much improved. I have yet to get my Edge out on the open highway for a long trip and will wait to do so before decide if I am going to seek further repair work. I can tell driving on the interstates here in town that it is much better and I no longer feel like I am fighting the steering wheel. This repair takes several hours so see if your dealer will give you a free rental. Mine gave me one even though I don't have the extended warranty/service plan.

  8. Since we are all sharing, here are the specs on my 2008 EDGE LIMITED AWD:

    Redfire Metallic

    Black Leather Interior

    DVD NAVIGATION

    SYNC

18" Inch Chrome Clad Wheels (Second set, first ones stolen)

    McGuard RIM locks

    Cargo Management System

    Sirius Satellite Radio

    Heated Seats w/3 Memory

    Vista BAMR

    Flex seating package

9 speaker Audiophile stereo system w/6 cd changer

I wish I had gotten the Power Liftgate but my dealer had none in stock with the Navigation system. So far at 1000 miles it looks as if I am only getting 10.8 mpg. I sure hope it gets better with time. The Brakes do suck a bit. Especially if you work them hard. They fade quite fast and the travel is way too long for a vehicle weighing 4200 lbs. Engine is strong though with some nice pull in the higher revs. Whats the deal with Ford not putting a Cargo Cover in the LIMITED???? I had a Ford Escape Limited before this one and it had it! Now I have to shell out $150 bucks to get one????? Ridiculous. The Keys remind me of when I was in Public school and they used to give you the bathroom key and it was attached to a big piece of plywood so that it wouldnt get lost. I cant even put the spare in my wallet because it would prevent it from closing! Sheesh. :redcard:

My car gets a lot of looks which makes me feel good but watch out for THIEVES and by all means GET LOCKS FOR YOUR RIMS!!!

Don't shell out the bucks for the cargo cover from Ford. I saw it and it sucks. It attaches to the rear seat headrests and they actually drill holes to attach some hooks to the rear of the cargo area. The cover doesn't retract, it just hangs there. If you release the cover from the hooks it flops down in your way. Hopefully, someone will come up with a retractable cargo cover. I had one in my Mountaineer and I miss that feature too.

  9. There is a new TSB that was just issued for drift/pull concern on March 20, 2008. This TSB is an update and supersedes TSB 07-7-6. The new TSB is 08-7-3. This covers both the righ drift/pull and left drift/pull concerns. The new TSB is the same as the old one. It just adds the 2008 model year.

I had mine into the dealership last Friday because it pulls to the left. They checked the alignment and rotated the tires. This did not fix the issue. Tomorrow, I have an appointment to readdress this concern. I am taking a copy of the new TSB with me so they get it fixed this time.

  10. I work at the Louisville Assembly Plant. The union pushed for a Ford vehicle only policy. Drivers of vehicles produced at this plant (Explorer, Mountaineer, Sport Trac) get closest parking. Drivers of non-Ford products must park in a separate lot or at the rear of the lot. If you drive a non-Ford product you are not allowed on the grounds of the plant. You must park in the separate lot and walk in.

  11. There is a new TSB that just came out on March 20, 2008 for drift/pull concerns. The number is TSB 08-7/3.

I took my Edge in last week because it is pulls to the left. They checked the alignment and it was within specification. The rotated the tires even though it had less than 500 miles on it. I am taking it back tomorrow along with a print out of the TSB so they can get it right.

  12. Just wondering if anyone who works at Ford knows or could find out if they plan to offer Sync as an add-on feature for those of us buying Edges without it? Thanks so much for any information you can provide. I am sure that some others here are curious about this also. Thanks. Yelnef

Ford and Microsoft have an exclusive agreement that runs through December 2008. After that time, SYNC will be offered as an aftermarket add on. My dealer tells me this will be somewhere in the neighborhood of US $600 - $700. But, it will be availabe to be installed on any vehicle, not just Ford branded vehicles.

  13. The SYNC system is far more than software. It will have a USB or similar port to plug in your MP3 player (more than the audio plug only that the current radios have), a hard drive to store music and/or other data on, and the bluetooth connectivity hardware. I don't see how there is any way it could be installed in an exisiting vehicle unless Ford makes it available as a separate add-on dealer intalled accessory.

I just got my Edge a couple of weeks ago and it has SYNC. My salesman said SYNC will be available as an aftermarket installation in late December or the first quarter of 2009. They have to wait until the exclusive agreement expires between Ford and Microsoft. He did say it would be an expensive installation of somewhere in the neighborhood of US $600 - $700 .

  14. Has it been determined if those of us with an 07 can get our phones sync'd in with our factory equipment? I am glad that I got my edge 4 weeks ago and they now have the sync capability for the 08 out (sarcasim).

I was considering purchasing a 2008 Taurus X that didn't have the SYNC and talked to a dealership about having it installed. The salesman told me that because there is an exclusive agreement between Ford and Microsoft, SYNC is not available for now as an aftermarket installation. He said that agreement will expire in December 2008. After that, SYNC will be available as an aftermarket installation for any vehicle, not just Ford branded vehicles. He said the cost will most likely be in the neighborhood of $600 - $700.

I opted to buy a 2008 Edge (not because of SYNC) and have been very happy with it. SYNC is an awesome system and I don't think I will consider a vehicle in the future that doesn't have this feature. :happy feet:

  15. Just bought a 2008 Ink Blue Edge, with hard top. I live in Dallas, where it is hot as hell most of the time, but some part of me really loves the Vista Roof. Even though I may not use it much, I think it is really cool.

Has anyone had the dealer install the BAMR? My dealer quoted me $2,295 installed. Said that they have done one before, that it is a 'bit different' (I need to see exactly what she means by that) than the factory install.

I've heard some concerns and complaints, but I'm more looking for someone who has actually had a dealer install tell me if they are happy with theirs.

    Thanks

    Bloo08

I also bought a hard top without the BAMR. My salesman asked me before we signed the final paperwork if I was certain I didn't want the BAMR. He said they installed a sunroof on an Edge that didn't come with one factory installed. He said it was really ugly. I have never heard of anyone having an aftermarket sunroof/moonroof/BAMR installed that didn't live to regret it. You compromise the roof integrity as well as open yourself up to water leaks and wind noise.
