  1. I didn't have to pay for my repair as it was under warranty. As long as the vehicle is less than 3 years old and has less than 36,000 miles on it the warranty will cover the cost. I had to be assertive with my dealership too. The first time I took it in all they did was check the alignment and rotate the tires. I took a copy of the TSB in and demanded they do the repairs listed in the TSB. It drives like a dream now. Good luck!
  2. Let's face it, the mags "like" those who advertise in their publications and lambast those who don't. They critcized the Edge when it came out for not having 7 passenger capacity. Ford already had a 7 seater with the Freestyle/Taurus X. Now, they also have the Flex. The bottom line is, the mags are going to continue to punish the domestics and hail the imports like they always have. It is interesting to see Toyota building an Edge "me too" vehicle in the Venza. Personally, I don't like Toyota's interiors. They are very cheap looking. And now that Toyota has gotten big, they are having major quality issues. Will C&D and Motortrend start hammering on Toyota now?
  3. I just took my Edge out on the first road trip since I bought it. I waited until I got over 1500 miles on it first. Drove 300 miles each way with the AC on and with 50% of the trip over very large hills and mountains. I averaged 22.6 MPG for the entire trip. I thought that was quite reasonable since the vehicle is rated 16 city/24 highway for my FWD vehicle. It certainly beats the 16 - 17 MPG I was getting on my Mountaineer and it definitely is a lot smoother ride. I'll take her out for a longer road trip in June.
  4. I just ordered my Weathertech cargo mat from Amazon.com. It is a brand new mat and only costs US $77.95. The one on Weathertech's site was US $109.95. It also qualifies for free shipping! Just go to Amazon.com and do a search for Weathertech 40325. The 40325 is Weathertech's part number for the Edge cargo mat.
  5. I just ordered a Weathertech Cargo mat for my 2008 Edge on Amazon.com. It was only US $77.95 versus the US $109.95 on Weathertech's own sight. This is a brand new cargo mat. Go to Amazon.com and do a search for Weathertech 40325. It also qualifies for free shipping so there is no charge if you are willing to wait a few extra days.
  6. Actually, the missing cosmetic paint is not a money saving feature. It just means that it wasn't painted properly and was missed at inspection and shipped out of the plant. If it bothers you, I'd have it painted while they are doing the other repair work for you.
  7. It is not 100% perfect but definitely much improved. I have yet to get my Edge out on the open highway for a long trip and will wait to do so before decide if I am going to seek further repair work. I can tell driving on the interstates here in town that it is much better and I no longer feel like I am fighting the steering wheel. This repair takes several hours so see if your dealer will give you a free rental. Mine gave me one even though I don't have the extended warranty/service plan.
  8. Here is TSB 08-7-3 in a PDF file. TSB_08_7_3.pdf
  9. I scanned in the TSB as a PDF file. I took my vehicle in Friday and they did this TSB. It appears this is the fix. TSB_08_7_3.pdf
  10. Yes, I do. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow so they can make a copy when they repair my vehicle.
  11. Incidentally, TSB 07-7-6 for the drift/pull concern has been updated and superseded by TSB 08-7-3. This update adds the 2008 model year to the concern. It address both right drift/pull and left drift/pull concerns.
  12. The sticker was $32,600 but I got the Z plan price of $29,200 and a rebate of $1500. If I had waited until April 1 I would have gotten $2500 rebate.
  13. Don't shell out the bucks for the cargo cover from Ford. I saw it and it sucks. It attaches to the rear seat headrests and they actually drill holes to attach some hooks to the rear of the cargo area. The cover doesn't retract, it just hangs there. If you release the cover from the hooks it flops down in your way. Hopefully, someone will come up with a retractable cargo cover. I had one in my Mountaineer and I miss that feature too.
  14. No, the order guides aren't out yet. They are also deleting Creme Brulee and bringing in White Suede in its place.
  15. There is a new TSB that was just issued for drift/pull concern on March 20, 2008. This TSB is an update and supersedes TSB 07-7-6. The new TSB is 08-7-3. This covers both the righ drift/pull and left drift/pull concerns. The new TSB is the same as the old one. It just adds the 2008 model year. I had mine into the dealership last Friday because it pulls to the left. They checked the alignment and rotated the tires. This did not fix the issue. Tomorrow, I have an appointment to readdress this concern. I am taking a copy of the new TSB with me so they get it fixed this time.
