  1. Update.... I think the problem is finally fixed. I did check most of what everyone here suggested and narrowed it down to the ignition switch. $52.00 at Advance auto, $35.00 after online discount.... I replaced the Ignition Switch, which is a very easy in and out. With the new switch the dash lights and all the accessories came on right away and no problem starting the car. 99.9% sure that this was the problem as the old one seemed pretty worn out, I will update again if not. Thank you everyone on this site for you help and advice.
  2. My initial thought when my wife told me that the car was not in park, or a gear shifter issue. Tried to have her move the gear shifter to Neutral etc but that does nothing. No engine issues, misfires or anything like that at all. Once it finally does start it runs great. The last couple days the weather has been much more mild, its started right up. We are in for brutal cold the next week so I anticipate the problem will be back. The key issue in this is that none of the dash lights come on at all...I am stumped
  3. I have a batttery charger that has a starter setting and I put that on the battery and terminals and it made no difference. I get nothing at all, no lights and when the key is turned there is a faint click from somewhere in the steering column but the motor does nothing. The click is when the power goes out on the other utilities such as when you start the car the radio goes off etc..
  4. If anyone can shed some light on my wife's car issue I would really appreciate it. We have a 3.5L, 2007 Edge. It has what I guess to be an electrical issue with the starting system. Symptoms: insert and turn the key and no dash lights except the airbag yellow light. Turn the key and the car does nothing at all. With the key in you can use the radio and seat warmers and if you turn the key on and off multiple times, sometimes as long as about 10 minutes all the dash lights will illuminate and the car starts. What I've done/know: New battery 6 months ago, tried with both keys (same issues), removed the steering column cover and checked the wires and connections (all appear ok). Initially when I removed the cover the problem seemed to occur less frequently. Seems to be worse in cold weather and once it is warmed up we can turn it off and then back on and it isn't a problem. Any ideas of where else to check out? Starter switch, Starter relay? Not sure since I don't know if the car is not recognizing the key or another cause. I
