They're definitely around, I think the 706 and 7706 were just released mid-2019. Their even newer models aren't shallow mount I don't think, so wouldn't fit in our dash. The street price on the 706 runs about $399, I've seen the 7706 for $299.

$500 for sync3 is certainly reasonable. Most of the kits that looked legit that I saw were in the $1500 range.

  2. Sync3 leaves me with dsr1 to interface with the aftermarket amps, and I'm over that hardware too. It's a product that looks amazing on paper but never quite gets there imo in practical use. Part of that could be the fault of having to integrate with the sync2, but gonna go a different direction regardless.

Agreed the oem HU always looks best for fit & finish but for the half the price of a sync3 swap you can get some pretty high end hardware. Probably gonna give this guy a go and see how the RR2 handles factory function integration:

  3. Been running the Sync2 head unit in my 2015 Edge with a Rockford Fosgate DSR1 to replace the factory amps for a couple years and have had mixed results at best.

Lately the Sync2 head unit itself has begun flaking out with volume control becoming unresponsive, voice command/nav audio cutting in and and out, proximity sensor sounds glitching out, etc.

At this point I'm just done with the factory head unit after trying to keep it worked into the system for this long. Doing some research, looks like the Maestro RR/RR2 is a good option to replace the head unit and retain factory functionality for on-screen controls. Anybody have any experience using one of these units?

Looking at one of the shallow mount iDatalink compatible Kenwoods to go with it.

Can I ask where you bought your wheel spacers and what the cost was? Xtra and I have an issue. The OEM spare donut wheel doesn't fit over our Rotora brake kit calipers, so I am currently driving without a spare...no bueno. I'm hoping I can simply space it away from the caliper a bit to create enough room. I am having difficulty finding spacers with the proper bore and bolt circle. Thanks!

    used these:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XQWJ35H

that had the correct lug spacing and centerbore. HOWEVER, couldn't find a set that were for our lug size (14mm)

Used a fresh 9/16" bit (14.2mm) in a drill press and a stepdown bit to give the enlarged hole a bit of chamfer. Bit self-centered on the existing lug hole and fit absolutely perfect. Would never know it wasn't machined for that size from the start.

  5. FINALLY got around to installing the H&R springs and rear swaybar. Took about 7 hours from grabbing the jack to lowering the Edge back down. Most of that time is the first front and first rear; once you do one side the opposite side is easy.

Followed snmjim's install guides and helped a lot, especially with the back (they're easier than it sounds/looks once you get in there)

Alignment seems unaffected, will be able to tell better tomorrow after some highway driving.

few pics fresh out of the garage. Running 275/45 21's with 5mm spacers. No rubbing at all of full lock-to-lock turn (I wasn't sure that would be the case, but so far so good :) )

  6. Can someone email the instructions to me please? I get an error when I try to open the files.

    Thanks!

If anybody else is looking for the reference from snmjim, here's a couple of Google doc links that I think should work if the forums links are down:

my guess is the 2015 and 2018 should be real close to the same as far as wiring color, speaker layout, etc.

I have a DSR1 and JL XD600/6v2 along with a pile of other stuff getting ready to go in soon.

You have actually put more weight on your wheels (unsprung mass) which is not good on the ride quality.

True, tirerack has them listed at 37lb vs 34lb for OEM. Including the weight of the wheel, it would bump it up a few % at each corner. But like I said, there seemed to be negligible difference in overall ride. If the additional sidewall softness is offset by increased weight NVH then I guess it is what it is.

  9. I'll get it, i just put the lowering springs on too, night and day difference there with handling. It actually looks like a futurey looking concept car too with how low it is but while still having a tall body.

Follow up question, if I were to install this myself, how do I know what to torque to? I don't even have a torque wrench so I'll grab one at lowe's or something.

Shop manual says 52lbft for the bracket bolts and 85lbft for the endlinks. Probably not the most critical torque spec on the vehicle, "tight" would probably do fine, but any shade-tree mechanic worth his salt should have a torque wrench.

  10. Couple of sets of Black/Red diamond stitched mats for sale. Long story short: East Coast Trendz couldn't get me the right set for a 2015 Edge for some reason, so now I have 2 sets extra.

That being said, I'm not entirely sure what these fit in. They're marked for '09-13' and '14' along with some Chinese labeling. If you think these will fit in your Edge and you want them, make an offer. Local to Seattle/Tacoma area.

    RedLancer:

When you stepped up to 45 sidewall did you note if the ride (comfort not handling) was improved? or not really noticeable?

    Thanks

    Ed

Probably a touch softer. My guess is as the driver you would notice a subtle difference, passengers maybe not.

  12.

Do you think a 45 would fit on Edge Sport? it's about an inch taller, same width. I would like a little more sidewall.

Running 275/45-21 Verdes on mine for that exact reason. The 40 series on the 21"s looked slightly out of proportion to my eye. Had to use a spacer or they would just barely rub on the bottom of the strut mount. 265/45's *should* fit, but might be close.

Using a 5mm spacer currently, 3mm probably would work. Stock springs right now, but have the HR's in the box ready to go on. Wheel wells should be filled nicely :)

Spedo is still very close. Vehicle vs. GPS @ 60mph is 62. Ride feels close to the same, after the HRs should be a little more rigid than stock.

  13. @redlancer Can you clarify what you mean by "There's no metal-on-metal with the install"? I know the main supports have rubber feet on them (the part that sits on top of the actual roof) but there's also a metal bracket that extends out and into the door jam. From that I can see, even on the Yakima version, they're all metal brackets.

You can see on the brackets the second black layer, that layer is rubber over the top of the metal part. It's relatively thin, but sufficient and durable enough to get the job done. I've had them on/off probably a dozen times since getting them and there are no marks or scratches

  14. I have the Yakima towers on mine with the aero core bars and it looks okay.

On my 2015 Sport with no BAMR I like that I can have the clean roof look for most of the time, and throw the racks on (takes about 5 minutes to put on and 1 minute to remove) for when I need to carry some stuff.

Though I'm surprised you can't get the rack option when paired with no glass.
