  1. I installed a deflector that I purchased at the local Ford Dealer. It was easy to install and looks really nice! Have another person hold one end of the deflector and mark the holes to be drilled. Use a drill "stopper" 1/8 of an inch so that when you go through the first layer of the hood "lip" the drill won't jump into the next layer of the lip (which is the hood underside).

  2. If you do a search for the 2009 Prius (coming out in Spring 09), you will find the next generation will produce much more power and much better MPG than the current model. When a vehicle has adequate power, comfort and 60 MPG, I'm afraid I will have to give it serious consideration when my lease is up in 2010. Meanwhile, I will enjoy the power, comfort , versitility and style of my EDGE.

  3. My 08 SEL FWD has about 5000 miles and the best I've seen so far (combined freeway and city driving) is 18.3 MPG. I was hoping for 20 overall when I leased the Edge-- a bit of a disapointment. Anyway, even though I like everything else about the car, I will be seriously considering the "ugly" 60 MPG Toyota Prius in 2010-- enough is enough. Gas in So Cal is already at $4.00 a gallon, so the Prius is looking better and better!

  4. I think it's debatable whether the Edge is a smaller car than your Pontiac Minivan. shorter yes... maybe roofline is a bit lower, by all other measures not really. certainly if it's FWD model you own you should get slightly better mileage than that. but everyone else seems to have decent results on the highway.

I'll give one anecdote I had just filled up on Saturday and drove it about 5 miles on the freeway. I was trying to get to one store near my home and accidentally got off one exit too late, thus had to double back since this place is on a one way road. sat through 2 annoyingly long red lights resulting in stop-and-go with A/C running to get there. drove straight home on surface streets after that. due to my error and street driving my trip computer (now 8 miles) immediately dropped down from 20MPG to 16. after my 11 mile drive to work today on the highway (avg 25-30 miles / hr) I was only able to get it back up to 17 MPG.

point being driving highway vs. city makes the biggest difference IMO. everyone who drives one on highways primarily seems to say they get well over 20MPG even at relatively high speeds. I've yet to achieve that but anyone should be able to get 18+ MPG (around 7-8 km / L) with proper driving, tire pressure, and not running A/C constantly. seems like your average of 5.5 is indeed lower than most

  5. I originally had 35% on the two front windows, but was unhappy with the look from the get-go. Recently, I had them take it off and put on 20%. It looks absolutely amazing. Perfect blend with factory tint on rears. Just be careful, it is rather dark!

  6. I recently purchased an all black edge with black interior and red accents and 20 inch factory wheels. Love the truck but I needed more. So I lowered it with H&R springs about 1.5 inches and dramatically changed the way it handles. Next I added a Wheelskin Euro steering wheel cover, red on top and bottom, and black on the side. It matches the red inserts of the sport seat package perfectly. Takes about 45 minutes to sew on by hand but worth it. Next I put on some tires and wheels I had in my garage from an Escape I had sold. They are Black ARI 18" rims (BBS copy) and 255/50/18 Kumho Ecsta STX tires. These are about 2 inches wider than the Pirellis so its kind of go cart in the feeling. Last on the mod list is the SCT tune which on 93 octane just woke the truck right up. It just leaps to your input and turns on a dime.

I am going back to the 20's because I don't have the sensors built in and the 18's are about an inch shorter so I would have to reprogram the computer. So back in the garage they go. If you want them and live near me in New York City (shipping tires is a pain) let me know. They have about 3000 miles on them, in great shape and I would let the wheels and tires go for $400.
