  1. I ordered the 2015 Edge Sport, the Dealer placed the order Feb 18, it was built mid March and had an ETA of April 19. I pre-sold my 2013 Edge, detailed it and safitied it only for that date to be changed to "waiting delivery". Multiple calls to Ford Canada customer service have given me absolutely nothing and no one can give me any kind of estimate of when I can expect to see my vehicle. I canot even get a straight answer as to why there is a delay. I was told at one point that it was not affected by any quality control issue. It's now been 16 weeks, I'm super frustrated, especially with the lack of communication from Ford! I just want to get an ETA on this vehicle but no one seems to know anything (or at least that is what they keep telling me).

    Any suggestions?

You can also file a complaint to Ford using the following link: https://corporate.ford.com/contact-us.html#tab2

Scroll to the bottom and select "Email Ford Investor Relations".

As stated, PM FordServiceCA they may be able to help.

Another dealer may be willing to help you, you will talk to talk to the person who does ordering at the dealer. Based on my experience, talking to most salesrep will get you nowhere. You need the person who submits to orders to ford.

    Etienne.

  2.

This. If it's something that can be added later easily they may build them and hold them. It probably depends on how busy the line is and what other vehicles are in queue, etc. etc. but it does happen. Wheels would be a good example - easy to swap out later. Or trim pieces.

I have also heard that (sometimes) when they hold cars like this, the first car built ends up at the very back of the lot. Therefore, when they pull the cars back in the shop, the last car out of the assembly line actually gets the correction. When there thousands of cars to fix, things like that happen!

  3. The latest Donlen report (as of May 15) http://www.donlen.com/production-cars-ford.aspx now shows 16-18 weeks of production lead time for the Edge. That is up from the 12-14 weeks that they were displaying a couple of weeks earlier. Still no confirmation that Ford has even accepted my order that was placed on April 29. It could be fall before I see mine, if ever...

I got my vin about mid-may and my ETA is 06/21

I am not sure I understand the lead times published by donlen.

    Etienne.

  4. I finally got my VIN number from my dealer, and FordserviceCA told me the ETA is June 21st, which is ok for me.

I got my VIN when I was on my way to the dealer to cancel the order. They got very lucky :)

I have talked to another dealer in the area who was extremely transparent. I wish I had talked to them first. I actually talked to the person who does all the ordering and transfers between dealers so he was very knowledgeable.

He showed me all communications papers/emails he gets from Ford, and the 51D availability issues were known way back in March! But that paper said until 3rd/2nd trimester (not exactly sure) . The September delays were communicated to them mid-April. He said he is not aware of communication delay between dealers, it's a matter of reading your (expletive) emails.

As we kept talking about cars and such we got deep into details. He showed me the ordering software, allocation principles, invoice prices, order tracking reports, everything! I have never seen such transparency from a salesmen I was in shock.

In my area, the dealers can only order 2-3 Edge per month. The allocation quantities are absurd.

    Etienne.

  5. It's possible the notifications to Canadian dealers were delayed. But I doubt it.

I have called Canada Ford Customer service early May and they would not confirm to me 51D was delayed. Using my order # and dealer code, neither could fordserviceca confirm the delay was due to 51D (or another option), or that there were existing delays on the 51D.

I will call other dealers in the area and ask some questions. I am not the only one who had this communication issue here.

    Etienne.

  6. The only delays are well documented to the dealers in their weekly reports. If the dealers don't read them or communicate them to their customers that's unfortunate but not sure what else Ford can do. Customers don't order Ford vehicles - the dealers do.

My dealer said they received a notice about the 51D not being available only May 13th. The dealer is canadian so that may explain a few things. They could be lying and being complacent not doing their job too.

I have made a complaint using the form under "Email Ford Investor Relations"

    https://corporate.ford.com/contact-us.html#tab4

I don't know if anyone here has ever used this to communicate with Ford...

  7. Étienne,

Being also from Canada, I have found over the years that Ford Canada does its best, BUT the Canadian organization is not at the same level as the one in Dearborn.

During the Sync saga a few years back, I soon found out that information is first created in Dearborn and later, sometimes too much later, crosses over to Canada. I dealt directly with the US Invehicle technology center. Even then, it wasn't perfect: Ford has many layers that don't necessarily exchange at the speed of light.

As for dealers, mine is golden when it comes to deal time, but I'm miles (kilometers) ahead of him on information, partly because of this forum and personal contacts in the US organization.

So now you can cancel your order and either:

1- Wait for the 2016, which will likely be available early/mid 2016, not September 2015 as others have speculated

2- Hunt the lots for a vehicle closest to your order, but they're rarely a 100% match

    I understand the frustration though.

Thanks for your understanding! I have talked to a former sales rep and he told me the information gets to the dealer very late. He basically told me to rely on "leaks" I get here, and proceed to make changes to my order.

In quebec you could also have issues with the language barrier. There are many points of failure.

I'll wait a couple more days and possibly just do as you said: get a 2016 Edge, or even an MKX.

    Etienne.

  8. Hi,

When I ordered my edge 2015 on Feb-10 I immediately subscribed to this forum. This is a great place for information!

However, only yesterday (may-14) was my dealer informed by Ford Canada that the 51D package is delayed until September. I have found out on May 5th when members here told me, but my dealer did not agree until he got explicit confirmation. Yesterday, another member told me his dealer just received the information about the delay. Again, on the same day, the 51D package was removed from Ford.ca build page !

I have searched the forums and it seems many members knew about the delay back in April 25, even before.

When I called my dealer, Ford Canada Customer Service, PM'd FordService, no one could confirm my order was delayed because of this option. I made very clear to all of them I thought the 51D was a problem. No one could get a reason code or anything except a meaningless status.

I still don't know if I would've received my car earlier if I had edited the order before. Now, I am afraid the order was edited late and that the car will be built way late.

I am a bit disappointed by the lack of communication. Maybe this is the dealers fault but it's impossible for me to tell.

Next time I order a car, I will be a lot more cautious about news. I should have been a lot more alert!!

    Etienne.

  9.

    Find a new dealer.

Yes this is the obvious solution. But I need facts before I make any decision. Magnetic provided that fact and I'm about to go meat the dealer any minute now.

I should have monitored Ford's production dates (and other production news) more closely but I did not. I relied on someone else and now I don't have what I want.

Thanks everyone for helping I will not waste any more time. It's been a week already.

    Etienne.

  10. I went to the dealer today and my sales rep still says the 51D is available and that the only hold up I had on the production of my car was the 21" rims.

He said the edge in the lot had the 51D package, so I took note of the VIN: 2FMTK4AP7FBB29513

It was a very busy day so we could not discuss more. I told him that if he made a mistake, and delayed the delivery, because he failed to mention an option I took was delayed till September - he would loose that sale.

Is it possible to double check this information on the web ? I went to ford etis and it's difficult to identify what the missing options would be.

    Etienne.

  11. About 2 weeks.....I had the same issue. Once I found oubout the delay, I decided to buy one of the sports they had in transit....identical to the one I ordered....just no 51d. I took ownership of my new sport last sat and the wife an I are loving it!

I found more useful info on this site than the dealer ever gave me.

I see there's a lot of great folks on this site. I will be using the information here as much as I can !

I will call my sales guy now.

  12. If you have the Drivers Assistance Package (Adaptive cruise control) it was listed as late availability. It was originally scheduled for May 4th and now it shows as first week of September. Check out the link below. I would contact your sales person.

    http://www.donlen.com/production-cars-ford.aspx

Thanks for sharing this information. I don't understand why my sales person is not keeping me informed of these delays.

Has this been a known fact for a long time ?

    Etienne.

  13. I ordered my Edge Sport early Feb and I still don't have a VIN ! Summer up here (Quebec area) is pretty short, and I was hoping to enjoy driving my new car as much as possible while it's nice and warm.

The color I picked is electric spice.. I got all options except for the inflatable belt. I know there are delays with the 21" wheels so that's why I've been waiting.

I have asked for a status on the build last week and the only thing the salesmen can tell me is that he's got no VIN. Is there any other information he could get from Ford ?

In any case this is my first Ford! (I have previously owned VW, Mazda, Mitsubishi) I am very excited about this new design.

    Etienne
