Not sure what it was, but the plastic ended up being dirty on the outside, not the inside. Couldn't feel it when I ran my finger over it though. Took some goo gone, a lot of elbow grease and about a day to get it off, but it's gone.

Thanks Paul, my brother and I are disassembling the dash tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how it goes!

Love the car so far. Nice to have a little more power under the hood after driving 4cyls for so long. Quick question. The inside of the instrument cluster plastic is dirty. Any ideas on how to get to it so I can do a little cleaning? Thanks

The inside of the instrument cluster plastic is dirty over the speedometer. It's distracting, not to mention ugly and annoying. I need help getting to the inside of that plastic...
