My 2018 Edge SEL AWD makes the same noise but it never happens at the dealership.  Have you confirmed that it is the hangar bearing so that I can tell the dealer to look at this item specifically?

I wish it was that easy!!

When I took it Ford of course they couldn’t hear it when driving. They said they heard a faint noise on the hoist and diagnosed it as - deflector on passenger side of ptu rubbing on passenger axle deflector. Will need a new deflector.

    And they fixed that.

My issue is that my noise happened when it was warm outside and after a bit of a drive. Both days I took it in the weather was much cooler and I do think temp had an affect.

The mechanic (not Ford) that diagnosed it heard the noise loud and clear and was confident. He was the one who said hanger bearing.

Ford fixed what they heard. I won’t know now until the summer if what I heard truly is fixed!

Hope that helps some at least. I will update back if the problem comes back.

If they fix something on yours please let me know as well.

    Thanks!

  2. We took it to our local mechanic today and he has concluded it’s a hanger bearing! No idea what that is but it is covered under warranty so now off to Ford for an “official” diagnosis and hopefully they will get it fixed!!

appointment is just over a week away so hopefully it’s safe to carry on.

thanks to those that helped and hope this can maybe help someone else out if they hear the same ?

My car had since been in for this issue multiple times. At first it was a loose axel nut. Then it was the cv joint, then it was the A arm. All on that same side and with low miles. I just went in again for another CV joint replacement, luckily under warranty. It has low miles and no rain or snow in area so don't know how it could go through joints so quickly, but it did. The Ford tech were able to catch the noise by using "chassis iears". It was never the strut or anything like that.

    Thank you for the update!

Did it sound similar to this -- https://youtube.com/shorts/jdZSZl8vyOI?feature=share

My husband put lube on the right boot as you could hear it squeaking when turning manually. Today I drove about 40 mins and where it  normally be noisy it was not! I thought it was fixed however once I returned home the noise started once again.

There is another thread on this very thing. I recognized it myself because I changed my own struts and over torqued that center bolt plus I didn't have the top and bottom of the strut bearing aligned (there is a mark on it that supposed to match up). I had to take the strut out again, fix it and remount it. Luckily I hadn't gotten an alignment yet but dang that was worse than having extra pieces left over!!

My husband checked it out and ruled it out as well.

He lubed up the boot pretty good yesterday and today I took my daughter to work, usually by the time I get there the noise is very noticeable. Today it was not, I drove around quite a few times behind the strip mall ( find it echos well back there) but nothing!! I was so excited however when I got home the noise was back, not as loud but I am going to assume the boot is drying or the lube is gone ?‍♀️

I guess it's progress as nothing else we have tried up to this point made the noise go away!

  5. Thank you! I’ll have my husband check that out.

We have been leaning towards the cv boot. When it was on the hoist yesterday and he was spinning the tire and you can hear the plastic boot squeak. He has since greased it so I guess today will tell if that helped.

appreciate the response! Was sure someone had to have heard this before but now seems to be just a me thing ?

    thanks again!

  6. Hi!

I have a 2018 Edge Titanium AWD. It has been a great vehicle and I just passed my 60,000 km so warranty is up ?

For the last week or so it has been making this awful sound. It seems to happen after driving for 10-15 mins so it needs to warm up for it to happen. I notice it a slower speeds - around 20 kms with my foot off the brake and more so when turning my wheel to the right.

Hoping someone has heard this before and can tell me what it is!

My husband has had it on the hoist a few times now and has checked the brakes, shocks and a few other things I can't remember...lol. He is sleeping or I'd ask but maybe just maybe someone has heard it or knows from experience.

Thanks so much for any and all feedback!!

  7. I find it is more in warm weather then cold!

I took mine in and it was there for about 8 hours. They said they had to remove the whole header. About 1/2 hour after I Ieft I heard the noise again. It was intermittent but still there. We were heading out of town so I couldn't bring it back but let them know it was still happening. After we got back it would happen here and there but not as often and for long. As the weather got cooler (less humid) I stopped noticing it. Throw in a humid day here and there I would here it. Now that it has cooled right off I don't hear it anymore.

Hopefully in the summer if it starts they can figure it out!

  8. Thanks all -- I have checked the doors/ cup holders under seats, on seat -- all storage type area's. My daughter thinks it is coming from between the pano roof and edge of the roof back drivers side. I had her take this video and you can hear it a bit -- wish I could remove the road noise better but at least maybe someone can identify with this sound. Reminds me of an old creaking school bus when they turn corners...lol

It is intermittent though as it didn't happen yesterday until about 5 minutes after driving. I promise it sounds much more loud and annoying then the video captures!

  9. I got my edge August 2015 and never heard these noises before!

Noise #1 sounds like something rattling in a plastic cup holder -It of course is not. It isn't constant and it isn't loud but it has been happening now for 3 or 4 months. My daughter thinks it is coming from where the seat belt meets on the back drivers side.

Noise #2 is new and annoying -- it sounds like an old creaking school bus! Definitely coming from the back roof area -- It has the pano sunroof so maybe something there? Again it does not happen all the time but when it does I feel like I am on the bus again :/ that creaking sound they make when turning corners or on bump roads.

I tried to get video with my phone but it didn't work well so will try tomorrow with my actual camera.
I am new to owning a new car so not sure if it is something the dealership will help with or not.

Will search the forums and get video tomorrow but figured I would post just in case someone could restore my sanity sooner!

It is a 2015 ford edge sel -- wrong section!! Just realized -- sorry :/

  10. I have been searching and reading a lot!

I have read and seen what the manual says but don't see where to buy it. I am in Ontario, Canada.

My dash gets a good dusting with a microfiber cloth but needs a better cleaning -- armor all seems to be what my inlaws have ( I use their shop to wash/clean) but see here people say not to use it.

Also my children have left lovely footprints on the back of my seats!

I will admit I have never owned a brand new vehicle before so want to really take care of it.

Is a damp microfiber all I need for now?

How often do you use product on the dash and interior? It does have leather sets as well.

Thanks for any and all help :)

  11. I am going this evening to look at a new to me Edge SEL and wondering what things are best to look for. I have requested Oasis reports at a few local dealerships but they want me to bring the car IN which isn't possible so I am looking for info or any tips from current/previous owner - known issues red flags...etc.

Would hate to spend all that money, drive 2 hours only to get home and be disappointed or stuck with a lemon. I have the carfax, carproof and all of that checks out.
