  1. I want to post an update. Found another website that suggests using a 12v relay to flip the signal. Works great now! check out third diagram from the top http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp
  2. So I am in the process of hooking up a backup camera to my pioneer head unit. I would really like to get the mute function to mute the stereo when in reverse so my backup beeper tones are audible when music is playing. I am however a little stumped on how to do this. Initially, i had the mute wire hooked up to the reverse sensor wire that I had run back to the backup lights. My theory is that it would get a +12v from the backup lights and mute the radio when in reverse. This worked, kinda. For whatever reason it would play the radio in R but mute it when out of R. Why would it do this, shouldn't it mute when it gets power? I guess this function could work by muting the stereo when the mute wire is grounded but then wouldn't it not work at all when hooked up to a the positive source. Any thoughts anyone?
  3. It appears that the backup beep doesn't come through the door speakers so I am okay there. Not sure how to retain the sound reduction feature though.
  4. Hi everyone, after doing a lot of reading on the forums I have comfortably replaced the stock system with infinity speakers and have all the parts ordered for a Pioneer 3300. So far, i am really liking the sound and hope to get even better sound with the pioneer HU. However, it occurred to me today that the factory back up beepers reduce the sound of music playing as well as beep through the speakers indicating that the beepers may be integrated into the stock HU in some way. Is backup functionality going to be lost? Thanks Cameron
  5. Okay, so i am a little new to car mods and such. I am interested in putting another muffler type system on the car. My edge (white sand, FWD, vista roof, sel) looks so cool but is so darn quiet. Anyway, i have been doing some research on the forum and found several people who have done mods. As i understand from looking under the car the exhaust funnels down into what looks like the first muffler (i herd it has two mufflers) and then continues on to a second muffler which then splits into the dual exhaust outlets. Now, here is the catch. The car is leased and i want to be able to take the car back to the muffler shop and put the old system back on when i turn in the car. So, is there a way to set this up so as to replace only the 2 mufflers with less restrictive after markets or is there going to be a bit more surgery than that. Thanks in advanced Cameron BTW, got 21mpg on the last tank 60/40 freeway/city
  6. second fill, 16mpg all city driving :D
  7. Hi everyone. New to the forums. I have a FWD SEL. First tank of gas i got 15mpg ALL city driving. Haven't taken above 60 yet. I am very happy with that number for its first fill. When i first got the car it could barely get above 10 on the trip computer but as I continued to drive it the the MPG creeped up to 15. Filled the tank and vuala, 15mpg. Very accurate. I was thinking that because it was originally getting 10 it must have been a fairly decent number to get it up to 15. On my way back from the gas station the computer told me 18. (reset everything). I am very curious as to what the average MPG will ultimatley be when i start driving back and forth from phoenix to tuscon for college. BTW, love this engine/tranny combo. Really smooth acceleration and just seems to always pic the gear i want for the situation.
