  1. I flushed the fluid of my PTU a few months ago and I used 0.5l on it. Last year I flushed for the first time, after 3 years) and as far as I remember it was possible to remove ~ 0.275l. I presume that Ford doesn't fill with 0.5l, but didn't find any official information. I wasn't sure about using 0.5l and was expecting some leakage or something, but not really happened. Last Feb I took the car to a regular maintenance visit in a dealer and they don't even notice anything with the PTU so I believe it works fine with 0.5l. Planning to flush again every 6 months. 2. Hei guys, Yesterday I received the part, so no issues with our local customs. In the end of the day, I got it earlier than what I was planning. The good news is that the issue is fixed! Halelluia Replaced the part this morning, relatively easy the procedure. In the old part I didn't noticed anything that could lead to an external root-cause. Some dust, but no rust, corrosion or even traces of water. Based on that, my initial conclusion is that it is really an internal failure of the part. Not a full collapse with the expected DTC codes expected in such cases, but it's not being able to hold the vacuum created by the engine at a point that the problem/side effect is noticed. Just immediately after the replacement I noticed an important change in the internal preassure of the evap system. Before, this preassure was always negative (what means vaccum) in the pressure monitor (placed at the gas tank). Very small variations during driving and all the time negative (-300 Pa). After the replacement, I started the engine and the pressure went directly to +85 Pa ... since the problem started I have never ever seen it positive. So it was a big change. Have just returned from the gas station and after refuelling the engine now started without any problem, in absolutely normal conditions. Deleted the error codes from ECU and so far they didn't return. The ride is also smoother. Will post a final post providing you guys all the links, info and pictures, so anybody experiencing the problem will be able to quickly understand, identify and replace. Thank you all for the tips and guidance. BR/Kleber
  3. No, last Feb I took the car to a dealer for regular maintenance/revision. Oil exchange, etc ... regular things that are reviewed and replaced. It was exactly after this visit that the problem broke out. Later I returned to the dealer when the PCM was flashed but this was after the issue and IML. Actually I start to think about the electrical possibility this week so I still didn't try to remove the connector yet. The good new is that according to USPS the new part had already left local customs so it may finally get here in the beginning of next week. Then I take a deeper investigation and replacement. Thanks/Kleber
  4. At the beginning I believed it was mechanical too. But later, I remembered that the problem happened after a revision in a dealer and they washed the engine ... this could have created an electrical problem (hope that's not the case). As soon as I replace the part, will figure it out. Since Monday, no further updates about shipping. Probably is stucked in the customs waiting for a decision about "extra" taxes, or not. BR/Kleber
  5. Yes, thanks for sharing. Unfortunately I don't have such manual vacuum generator to test it properly. Will help me anyway to replace the valve. I'm really curious if the issue is mechanical with the valve or if this can be electrical (as for some reason, the proper voltage is not getting to the valve as expected). BR/Kleber
  6. Not yet. I have no specific tools for testing vacuum on it. If you have any video/instruction on how to do it I can test. BR/Kleber
  7. Hi there, The part is already in Brazil but now I depend on the government to decide on taxes and to allow the delivery process to run till the end. However, I was talking today with my brother about the problem and I remember something interesting. The problem poped up for the first time right after the last regular visit to the dealer for 42 months maintenance. And, in this visit dealer washed the car completely, including the engine. Just after getting the car from the maintenance (where basically only oil was replaced) I went directly to a gas station and then I experienced the issue where the engine was not starting after refueling. This really called my attention as I faced something strange immediately after leaving the dealer. So, I'm sure that I have a problem with my canister purge valve but ... any change that such issue might have happened because of the engine washed? The valve is not working properly because of a mechanical failure, or due to and electrical problem? If anybody has more info or schematics on how could I measure the voltage provided to the valve, I would appreciate to test it. This morning the car was strange again and I noticed something different. Usually, the pressure in the Evap system (measured in the gas tank) is around -300 Pa. Today, during the abnormal operation this value was around -4.000 Pa. This makes me believe that the purge valve was opened (normally it is closed) thus allowing the engine to generate a higher vaccuum noticed in the gas tank. So, any help to test if the electrical power supply to this valve will be very much welcome! BR, Kleber
  8. Hi, not yet. Amazon promised to ship the part by 14th of march but yesterday they answered that the supplier failed to deliver it, and that actually they just didn't have any idea of when this could be shipped. I was really disappointed with them. Today I found another supplier through Amazon and he managed to ship it. Expect to receive it by next week, if there's any other surprise. The problem of having hard time starting the engine after refueling is still present and once more the IML appear with the same DTC codes P2196/P2198. I managed to delete the codes and turn off the IML with App Torque. Right now I'm 100% sure the problem is this purge valve, and everything will get back to normal when I replace it. By the way, the dealer told me they have never changed this part before and wasn't able to tell me how long Ford would take to import. They said they would call me back to inform, but never called me back. Japanese dealers really provide a much better quality customer support. As soon as I get and replace the part, I'll share feedbacks, some other informative videos I found about it and also printouts from ECU measurements. Thanks
  9. Yes. This morning I bought it in Amazon for replacement. Unfortunately, due to shipping and taxes it cost 59 USD as final price (part price was 22). Additionally, the part will only arrive in April ... Viva Brazil! Yesterday I called the dealer asking for the part, and they told me that it was not even registered in their system so they had absolutely no idea of how long would it take to receive the part. Additionally, they budget another hour of their technician to replace so it would cost me 165 USD to replace with them :-O As soon as I replace it, I'll share more feedbacks. Thanks/Kleber
  10. For me it makes a lot of sense and the purge canister valve really has to be the problem. I collected some further readings from the OBD and notice that in bank 1, the O2 measurement is always in 0.8V. The system try to reduce the fuel injection (SRFT) but there's absolutely no change in the O2 measurement (differently from Bank 2). This means that the mixture is always "rich" with low O2 levels measured. I believe this triggered the P2196/P2198 DTCs, as a condition for that is having no switch in O2 monitoring even after strong reductions in fuel injection, for at least 30 seconds. So, in case we have a purge valve malfunctioning and "opened" (when it should be closed) gas vapour (hydrocarbonate) ends up constantly getting into the engine, leaving less space for O2 ... and resulting in rich (my hypothesis) However, I remeber to see comments of another issue with Edge, related to throttle body. Based in your experience, do you see any chance that the throttle body issue could the the reason of the problems? I mean, if it is related to the O2 inflow and I'm constantly reading low O2 outputs, I was wondering if that couldn't be the problem as well ... so, your opinion and eventually tips on how could I detect such issue in my car would be appreciate. PS: So far, no DTCs are present anymore. BR/Kleber
  11. So far, nothing noticeable with the car while driving and the IML hasn't returned. However ... yesterday I took the car to a gas station for refueling and the same symptom of having difficulties to have the engine started just after refueling was there (not solved). Will call dealer today to ask about it. BR
  12. I agree. I'm happy that so far the issues didn't come back so maybe such changes were enough to fix the situation. Hope it continues like that! Thanks
  13. Just got the car. Dealer has upgraded PCM Sw release.from DT4A-12A650-ATD to DT4A-12A650-ATE. The contact person also said that PCM was "reprogrammed" but honestly I don't think they had changed any parameter (beyond the sw update). They cleared the error codes (DTC). They also blamed the quality of the fuel which in my view is a very unlikely situation, as I've been using the same gas station for more than 6 years, in many different cars without any problem. As they belong to a huge supermarket here (like wallmart) I believe they would not risk their brand reputation on bad quality fuels. Have used the vehicle this morning and things seems to be returned to normal. No fault codes neither IML and nothing else noticed (neither the "strange" engine rotation variation while stopped). I'm not fully convinced that the root cause was solved but will count that the PCM sw update should have solved. Thanks/Kleber Have just used the vehicle today,
  14. The dealer called me in the end of the afternoon, and said: - The TSB 14:0213 doesn't apply to my vehicle; - They detected readings of a "rich" mixture and "reprogrammed" PCM; - They said it is not necessary to replace the canister purge valve; - The light in the panel is gone; - Nothing else is needed and the problem is fixed; Bill: 1h from their technician (105 usd) Any idea of what is reprogramming the PCM? BR, Kleber
  15. So, I decided to take the car to a dealer, to confirm if the failure is really in this part. (this will be my first experience with dealers that are not with regular maintenance). Left it over there this morning, they will investigate. They said that they will return with the findings and budget to fix. (but if I decide not to fix with them, then I would have to pay 1h of their technician for the findings (1h of a dealer technician here = 105 USD). Considering the cost of the part if I import by myself, the price from the dealer is not too far away, so I decided to take the risk. Let's see what will be their feedback. BR/Kleber
  16. That's true. Additionally shipping takes a lot of time (weeks) and by plane it gets quite expensive. And if you don't pay the taxes accordingly and your delivery is caught, fees can be as high as 50%.
  17. Yes, this is an option. Found one alternative in Amazon with a final cost of 62 USD. For us here, this start to be a "not so cheap" price to just buy and risk to be, or not, the solution. So, I shall take it to a dealer to confirm if this is really the part to be replaced. Another problem here is that after searching in many dealers, this part is just not available in Brazil :-) Probably if I buy in Internet it will be faster than Ford to bring it.
  18. Thanks once again Omar. That's the correct part code.
  19. Yeap ... the problem is that here you just can buy parts in official Ford dealers. I've been asking around and here nobody knows the motorcraft code. Have found the part number associated 7T4Z-9C915-A but the cheapest I have found so far was 172 USD ... but couldn't find the part available in any dealer yet. :-(
  20. Have just called a dealer here in Brazil ... this cart costs 233 USD :-)
  21. Thanks Omar. In Ssilence's post he said that there was a recall for the Edge related to this problem: "In addition, I found a recall for earlier makes of the Ford Edge that had this same part failing." I'm not from US and based in all my research about the Edge I never found anything about it. Do you have any reference on this recall, and where can I find more info? BR/Kleber
  22. Hello guys, This morning I noticed that my Ford Edge 2013 was not running smooth as before. There wasn't any other problem like losing power, etc, the only issue was that (mainly when stopped) it was possible to feel that the engine rotation was presenting some significant variations, and in some cases it seems that the engine would almost shut down, but never got to this point. While in movement, the car was performing quite ok and such variations were almost not possible to be noticed. As I have the OBD connector and the Torque App, I decided to check for any error codes and unfortunately 02 of them have poped up (previously, this scan all always clean). These 02 error codes are P2196 and P2198, both connected with O2 Sensor Signal. (attaching a print screen). I have been using the same gas station so initially I'm assuming there hasn't been any issue with fuel quality. Would appreciate if you could help me to understand what may be this problem, if there any common problem related to that and the options to fix. Thanks/Kleber
  23. Hi, It happens when the passenger's door is opened. Yes, I'm aware of the warning due to the key, but it is really not the case. in such cases, the horn works also when the key is normaly inside the car. Maybe it is my impression, but this one seems to be quicker than the one due to the key. BR/Kleber
  24. Hello guys, I have an Edge Ltd 2013 and in some occasions when I park the car and the passenger opens the door, the horn shots 02 times quickly. It seems some kind of warning but I don't know what for. The key is always with me, inside the car. Anybody has any idea of what this sound/warning from the horn means? (would appreciate also if anybody has a list of warnings that can be produced by the car). BR/Kleber
  25. Yes, that's correct and there are companies selling POI's database, however in most of the main GPS we usually have ways to import POI (by savings files in specific folders, or with built in importing mechanisms). The list of speed cams and traps I already have ... just need to find a way to upload them in MFT/GPS. BR/Kleber
