I have taken it in three times in the past month regarding this issue and sat in a few Edge's on the lot with the Service Manager, the other one's on the lot also made the noise to varying degrees, however only one was louder as loud as mine. I'm going to keep taking it back until they give in or can provide some help. I've seen other posts on other forums regarding the noise...but no one seems able to get anywhere or get an answer....

We just bought a new 2008 Edge and love it, with one exception. The noisy Fuel Pump, we hear a constant high pitched whistle/noise nearly every time we drive it. You can hear inside and outside the car, even over the radio and at freeway speeds. I've taken it in to the dealer a few times and they've said that all the Edge's sound like this and therefore can't help...is this true? What can I do, the dealer says they won't fix it?

Hi all, I put my comment on this on the Service link. My 2008 Edge also has the high pitched whine/noise. Its actually the fuel pump (and confirmed it with the Service Tech) which is why you can hear the noise even when idling our outside the car. They said they could swap it out, but the new fuel pump would make the exact same noise. The dealer has said there's nothing they could do b/c all Edge's make the noise and there is no fix/instructions from Ford on resolving the issue. I was instructed the only hope for a fix is to complain directly to Ford and see/hope/pray they're going to try to fix it. Has anyone had their fuel pump swapped out for the fix? Has anyone had any fix for this noise? Its slowly driving me crazy

All, My wife and I just bought our new 2008 Edge and within a week of owning it we started to notice a very high pitched noise/whine from the rear of the vehicle...upon taking the vehicle in (the first time), the tech said he could not hear the noise... So we discovered that the noise is independent of the A/C, Vent, Radio, Road Speed, etc. and that the noise can actually be heard outside the vehicle as well. So I took the vehicle in a second time, pointed the tech to the fuel pump (you could hear it a little bit before turning the engine over, dead give away). This time we were informed that the noise is typical and that all Edge's have it. I took the vehicle in a third time, and within 5 seconds of the engine running, the tech informed me that a few other Edge's have complained about the noise, but indeed most Edge's have it. I was then allowed to sit in a couple other Edge's and to varying degree's they do have the same noise. In discussing with the dealer's customer service rep I was informed that there was nothing else that they could do, since if they replaced the fuel pump, the noise would likely still be there. Possibly even worse than before. The Service Mgr recommended I send my complaints to Ford directly since there was nothing else the dealer could do unless Ford released a service bulletin/etc. SO... I've filled in the online form and plan to call the Ford customer hotline and recommend you do the same if you love your Edge and not the noise! Otherwise, no complaints!
