  1. I did not get the nav system with my 2007 EDGE, but I really like the newer Garmin GPS units so I got one.

They switch on/off automatically when the power is supplied to them, but unfortunately it seems that in my EDGE the power outlets stay on all the time. No way to switch it off when the ignition is off.

Is rewiring needed or is there a setting somewhere maybe? Do you think I need to go to the dealer to rewire or can I do it myself?

Any advice is appreciated - Thanks!

Yep - Every Ford I've owned since the early 90s does that. I like it. With the TomTom I just bought and had hardwired, they wired it directly to the battery. Programmed my TomTom to turn off when it loses power. Cut off the car, battery goes off, TomTom goes off.

  2. What do you guys think of this bumper guard?

Hmmm... Personally, not a big fan of it at all. Not a huge fan of the front end protection things in general, be it truck or otherwise, but this one even more so. Seems to not fit the look of the car. Got any other pics from different angles?

With all that said, I'm not a slammer. I appreciate everybody's tastes are different and am a proponent of if it works for you I'm good with that!

  3. We now have 4400 miles on our Edge. Ave speed of 30 mph on a mix of hwy and city driving. We are currently at 18.9 mpg.

Wow... freaky... I have 4424 on my Edge. Averaging 30 mph w/ mix hwy and city and currently avg of 18.9 mpg. You driving my Edge??!? HA!!!

I know it has been chatted to death on here but did notice a big difference (almost 2 mpg) between a tank of gas from Wal-Mart, which was 10% Ethanol and the current tank which does not (or at least doesn't advertise) have the Ethanol mix. Right at 17 with the Wally-world E-mix and now back up to about 19 without the E-mix...

  4. 87, 91 and 93 around here.

All I've ever ran regularly in vehicles and will continue to run is 87. No noticeable difference the very few times I've filled up with anything other than 87. As Akirby mentioned, why waste the extra $$$ for no gain.

  5. Ordered them from Autoanything.com install was 1 hr labor at my local Ford dealer. Dealer was impressed with the quality and fit, they are now installing them on some vehicles.

Several models on autoanything.com. which is the model you purchased?

    anyone else put any on?

got a 3 year old, so thinking about it to help her get in (miss independent!)

    thanks!

  6. well... column 1 is obviously the media item.. and the "+" sign indicates that it is said in conjunction with something from the other 3 columns but the other 3 columns do not need another column command (other than column 1) to make it function that command. that make sense? it is essentially column 1 + any other columns command for that media device row. eek.. makes it sound harder than it is

    Makes perfect sense!

Thanks so much! Things like this are what make this such an awesome place!

  7. Lex,

This is awesome! I'm totally new to Sync so very helpful. One thought/suggestion - would it be possible for you to add column headers to each of the 4 columns describing what that column is? For example, is Column 2 what it is capable of doing or is it buttons that get pushed? Is Column 3 things you say when prompted?

Guess what I'm saying is - Does Column 2 prompt Column 3? Or 3 prompt 4? Just a newbie question/thought!

    Thanks again for the sheet!!

  8. Sitting in Hotel room in Cleveland, OH. Just arrived after driving up here from South Carolina. 10 hours, a little over 600 miles. The rides on my 20 inch and Pirellis? INCREDIBLE!! I would not have imaged the ride being as nice as it was. Smooth roads, rough roads, rain storm and dry - PERFECT! No complaints here at all!

  9. Awesome stuff Guys!

    Bob - Nice Pic!

Bob - What is the weight of your camper? Around 2500-2700lbs? May I assume you do not have the transmission/oil coolers installed? How often will you pull the camper and do you foresee any issues (again assuming the above) since the Edge is only rated at 2000 lbs, I think?

I'm new here so PLEASE feel free to correct me... Learning as I go! Oh, we have a camper similar to yours and would love to be able to tow it with the Edge.

    Thanks!

  10. Michael-Back in the day when draftsman really did drafting work, they used to have these leather weights to hold down drawings. They are about the size of a small hamburger and are filled probably with metal shot, so they are fairly heavy for their size. Anyway I had one of these and used it to mount the metal disk that came with my garmin to this leather weight. Then in turn mounted the suction cup for the garmin holder to that disk. I also have it located just in front of the shifter and the reception is very good. We have no sun roof but it works anyway. With an outlet right there, you can wrap up the wires and shove them in that opening under the a/c controls. Looks pretty good and what I really like is it's out of the way and out of site. John

    Hi John!

Thanks for the feedback. Any chance that might have turned into something like this if you had mass-produced it?

The area you mention is definitely an area I'm looking at. Having Headrest DVDs installed tomorrow and the guys are going to hardwire the plug for me so no need for the outlet but I still like that location...

    Thanks again!

  11. Hi there!

Not a fan of the Nav, well I guess not a fan of the $$$ for the Nav, stock - so didn't get it on my new ride. Love my TomTom and was wondering (and please keep in mind I'm not an engineer nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night... :) ) if anyone (and it doesn't have to be a TomTom has hard wired their GPS and could describe steps or show some pics?

Don't mind it on the dash or on the glass or anywhere for that matter, just don't like the wires and having to use the plug-in cable... want a cleaner look...

    Thansk!

  12. Been lurking here for a month or so after debating on getting a Fusion for a few months. Love the Fusion (ride, style, etc) but with 2 kids, traveling from time to time, felt something a little bigger but similar would be the right way to go. Found it in the Edge!

Have always loved the Copper/Burnt Orange color that you see on Muranos, Corvettes, etc and I just so happened to pull into a local dealer and there it was... Beautiful...

Sticker price was $34,120.00. With A-Plan and some additonal discounts by the dealer (sitting on his lot for 5 months, wanted to move it) above and beyond the A-Plan price, got it down to $28,100.00. They contacted a local custom stereo shop and saved me $200 by going thru them to get the A/M DVD Headrests installed so that bumped it back up $29,500.00. My wife is VERY frugal and she loved the deal so I signed the dotted line!

Not sure what else I should type, just wanted to introduce myself. Have chatted via PM with NYEdge and love some of the stuff he and Lex (SoCal) are doing as well as a lot of the rest of you!

I'm here to learn and when/if I get something done - share!
